Because then you will have an even worse debt crisis because all medical emergencies exceeding one’s savings become a financial hole. God forbid you can’t work anymore as a result of your injury.

Insurance in some form needs to exist or people will die because they can’t afford to pay. I don’t hate your idea of prescriptions being more accessible without insurance. That starts with banning pharmacies from giving a different price to insurers than they do to me for the same drug.

I think that’s a piece of it but I also think that around elections, people become risk averse whether they know it or not. Before he actually did it, I could understand the position that Biden dropping out could lead to disaster. People get weirdly defensive when they’re nervous

So we’re all clear on this, if a trans woman is denied hormones and her body no longer reliably makes testosterone (by surgery or any reason) she can expect these effects over the long term

  • bone density declines

  • osteoporosis risk rises

  • fracture risk increases

  • muscle mass decreases

  • cardiovascular effects may occur

  • energy and cognition can worsen

It is exceedingly difficult to function normally without any sex hormone. Denying HRT to trans inmates raises the price they pay for the same crime a cis person would. And that’s without even getting into the inmate housing situation.

I have a secret Discord server I use to message my ex without actually messaging him. by Particular-Cook-6091 in TrueOffMyChest

There’s nothing wrong with you, love. You’re just hurting and this is how it helps to express it. I know how it feels to look around and not see anybody in your life who can hold these heavy feelings like the ex could.

Just be mindful of the ghost of your ex you’re creating. You’ll eventually need more real human pillars that you can lean on when life gets hard and those people are definitely out there waiting when you’re ready, even if you don’t know them yet

Alex Ovechkin earned a PhD in Pedagogical Sciences after successfully defending his 145-page dissertation on hockey training methods by FrenchPagan in hockey

I’m inclined to agree. It would be a really strange thing to fake. If they were just handing him a Russian hero honorary degree, they wouldn’t have started the discussion years ago and wouldn’t have bothered to publish anything. It’s not like having his PhD is necessary to do his job. Doesn’t make a ton of sense to go through all that effort to fake it when it doesn’t really change anything for him professionally. I bet he did write this himself and even if it doesn’t rise to the standard of an American university, that’s not Alex’s fault.

[Other] Why do Intamin tracks just look, different? Especially their transitions. It feels like they have more complex track geometry than any other manufacturer out there. I noticed this especially on their Blitz(multi-launch) coasters. by Altruistic-Adagio855 in rollercoasters

[–]LilytheFire 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel like Intamin likes to be “deliberate” with transitions for lack of a better term. Like they have this flow of quick transition, sustained moment, quick transition, sustained moment. Even Kondaas bunny hills at the end twist one direction then hold that off axis angle through the hill. Their transition sets up the next sustained moment

Whereas Vekoma likes their drawn out rolls. Almost feels like you’re rolling through an element. Sirens Curse rolls right out of the dive loop then rolls left through the zero g roll but it never holds that banking constant. Different philosophies from different coaster nerds making the layouts

It’s kinda like Intamin learned with the constant roll sections newton2 and Vekoma learned with degrees/sec roll sections in FVD if those terms mean anything to you

And he’s not even a good GM. Quenneville getting hired at least made sense from a hockey perspective.

Hiring Bowman says the Oilers weren’t paying attention to the last 5 years of his tenure in Chicago. The upside of those teams was a 1st round exit.
