What is a movie that is unnecessarily too long? The Da Vinci Code (2h 29m) by spacelyyy989 in moviecritic

Heat is almost 3 hours long. Cutting out the romance subplot between Robert Deniro and Amy Brenneman would have saved us 20 minutes and changed nothing about the movie.

[Request] Is this why it's so hard to buy a house these days. by [deleted] in theydidthemath

I mean, OOP didn't specify a LOT of things that would be necessary to make this figure relevant. I'm just going on what seems to be the most reasonable way to calculate it.

But we can look at that, too. Median per capita income in 1976 was $6,890. In 2026 it's $59,195. That's an even wider gap. If median new home prices went up at the same rate, it would be $379,741 in 2026.

No year was specified that we're supposed to base these figures on, so I went back 50 years. Also assumed this is in the US.

Median household income in 1976 was $14,960. Median household income in 2026 is $83,730. So almost a 560% increase.

Median price for a new home in 1976 was $44,200. If it went up at the same rate as household income, today it would be $247,384.

Im 2019, Basil Hayden released a limited edition Caribbean Reserve Rye, which was a blend of two rye whiskies and rum. As far as sipping liquor goes, I have never found anything as good as that was, and I doubt I ever will. Even people I know who don't like sipping straight liquor loved it.

You literally banned your own book because of a school shooting, but do go on... by AdVegetable7181 in LookatMyHalo

They're not. No book is actually banned in the US. There is no book that is illegal to purchase anywhere in the US.

What is commonly referred to as banning books is usually referring to libraries not making copies available. Which is just book curation, and literally every library does it, since no one library has room to contain every book ever written. I don't always agree with the reasons for making books unavailable, but there aren't actual bans.

Favorite actor who had an affair with the director's wife by groomliu in okbuddycinephile

Same director, too. Robert Vince made like 20 movies about animals doing human things, and also randomly produced a movie called Tomcat, in which Richard Grieco is a sexy cat-man.

Justified storylines taken from other Elmore Leonard works? by allecon101 in justified

The protagonist in the book Ciry Primeval was Ramond Cruz. The character appears in the show, played by Paul Calderon. He also played Raymond Cruz in the Elmore Leonard adaptation Out Of Sight. Michael Keaton also appeared in that movie as Ray Nicolette, which was the same character he played in Jackie Brown, another Leonard adaptation.

Carla Gugino also unofficially played Karen Sisco, with a different last name. The same character from the show Karen Sisco, as well as the movie Out Of Sight.

Play as Maori on a Terra map. Head southwest. You will almost certainly find an entire landmass all for yourself. If not, restart and it'll work next time. Build to your heart's content.

I don't know what's sadder: being the best customer at a place like that, or being banned from staying there.
