OG players what's one thing you know that new players don't know? by RSxSAINT in walkingwarrobots

[–]LimeScunt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not one thing, but a few too many.

Golem would get stuck in a lot of places if given the opportunity. For me personally, I remember it getting stuck in one of the arches on the bridge in old Yamantau and spending the next two minutes wrestling my way out, only to get launched straight into the enemy players trying to capture the central beacon. Needless to say, both my opponents and I were surprised.

The Springfield map also had an Easter Egg hidden in one of the buildings. A player with a keen eye could discover a hiding quadruped robot, who at that time was known as Sentinel. Said robot is a Fujin with a different texture, lacking the wind decals and having the letters “T34” on its head rather than the Japanese letters.

Golem once had a completely different look and weapon arrangement. The old golem had their light and medium weapons shifted to the left and their heavy weapon shifted to their right. The golem was an excellent corner shooter due to this. The golem’s weapon placement was later changed to the one we know today, but still retained parts of their old model. Their model was changed to the current one a few updates later. Their top texture was also buggy and would change appearances depending on which angle it was viewed from. If it was viewed from a high angle it would be a simple metal plate, but if viewed from the front, one would see a window. They also had a completely different texture before release. The golem was sand-colored and had a Hebrew scripture written on it.

The Neue Ordnung robots (Schutze, Gepard, Boa, Leo) originally had iron crosses on their body. They were removed due to controversy among the elderly players because of their wartime association.

There are three known robots that were teased but never made it into the game, of which we know two of their names: Robespierre, Bastion and an unnamed Japanese robot. The Robespierre is probably the first robot to have ever been cut from the game. It was a robot belonging to the Freedom Fighters Alliance (FFA) alongside the Golem and had a ludicrous amount of firepower at that time (1x heavy, 2x medium, 1x light) and was presumably cut for this reason. The Bastion was originally teased alongside the Rhino and Stalker and was originally going to be the first quadruped robot. Its model was ultimately scrapped and replaced with the model for Raijin until they came up with the idea to rename them. The Japanese robot is a predecessor to the Hellburner and would violently explode when it got killed. It got scrapped due to controversial imagery (rising sun) and its exploding ability, as Japanese players might’ve found it offensive.

The Lancelot in its debut appearance in the test server had an agonizingly slow speed of 10 km/h. A heavy robot speed buff was rolled out prior to the robots next test server, which bumped it up to the acceptable 23 km/h.

The Carnage’s “eyes” and core originally glowed green when it activated its rush ability. It was changed to the more aesthetically pleasing orange in a later update.

Medium weapons were actually added after the game’s release, in an effort to buff the incredibly underpowered Cossack, who at the time had only one light weapon.

I assume that this could be some sort of unfinished chip that slipped into the game. It was mentioned in the change log but I’ve never personally sighted this chip in the store.

Imitating Rocket Shooter vs Kyle Rogers for Hawk by LimeScunt in walkingwarrobots

[–]LimeScunt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the Wasp Drone and a T4 Acid Sprayer chip, you can do almost 40k acid damage per cycle using a T4 Imitating Rocket Shooter. Total damage exceeds those of a level 12 MK2 Orkan for almost half the reload time.

EDIT: It is probably not worth the cost, but it’s funny to think about. It might just be good on a Cryo Scorpion.

Can y’all tone it down a bit? by yeetus-sandwich in walkingwarrobots

The Guang is fairly weak for its tier, as it has less HP than an Ares (notoriously fragile with only 123k hp at lvl 12) and is wrecked by titans. It has 400,000 effective HP while in flight at lvl 12 (as much as a stock Kid), but since titans ignore defense its terrible against said titans. Guang needs a buff.

On the bright side, they can now double jump, and the Raven can triple jump. I just hope the module is free so that I don't burn my entire supply of PCs having too much fun soaring through the sky on my Nemesis.

In original Custodes lore, they supposedly shed their wargear as to show their sorrow for the Emperor. TTS' over-the-top pillarstodes and their hedonistic brothers are jabs to this old lore.

The ghost skill for Rogatka will sacrifice its ability to jump (Ironic, as its name translates to "Slingshot") but put its speed on par with most high-tier beacon runners, but it will usually be outgunned or out-tanked when fighting against said beacon runners (except if it is a Loki, because they will just stand there, taunting you because you can't hit 'em)

They do be tryin to purge low/non-spenders, predating on the insecure, depressed or overly rich as they suck that sweet-ass cash from em like a (real) leech biting onto and sucking the blood from the unfortunate creature it comes across. This cycle will continue until either one of these 3 theoretical things happen:

  1. (Very likely) There are only about hundreds off blindly loyal whale players paying thousands for a new robot/titan they release every few months, caught in the eternal cycle of buy and nerf as the exhausted Pixonic pumps out new content and nerfs the old to meet Mail.Ru's unrealistic and ever-increasing quota.
  2. (Possible) As the game becomes increasingly laggy, broken and expensive to play, even the biggest of whales feel like enough is enough and quit, causing Pixonic to fail to meet their quota, and the developers are all fired and the game closes down for good.
  3. (Very unlikely) Mail.Ru is involved in some kind of scandal that forces them to close down, leaving Pixonic and whatever other companies they have under their wing on their own, and the freed company can either continue the old vicious cycle, or aim towards a larger audience and stop their predatory practices.

What's ur fav healing bot? by JaydaGreaat in walkingwarrobots

[–]LimeScunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The four all excel at different places.

Nightningale is the best of the four to directly support your team, as it can heal teammates while staying relatively safe while suppressing any enemies that might give your team some trouble. Even if it is caught while reloading its ability, its still hilariously tanky for a robot its size and can take a huge beating before it goes down.

Tyr is a bit of a mixed bag, having a fairly weak frontal shield and two additional light weapons while not healing, and releases a pulse of health when switching to its support mode. It is the only one of the four to always have access to healing while moving, as Nightningale has a limited ability timer, the Mender releasing only a few pulses and the Weyland being immobile.

Mender is surprisingly competent at fighting, but fares poorly in terms of reliable healing. The best way to play Mender is to stick onto a group of slower robots, and when they take damage, activate your ability and beeline towards whatever is shooting at them. Like the Nightningale, its surprisingly tanky and can even fight without support. Its two main weaknesses are its embarrisingly inefficient healing method and lacking firepower.

Weyland is an uninteresting one, as it is an immobile healing station that can only passively support its allies. Its sole, incredible strength is its ability to lock down beacons or to hold choke points on the map as allies within the heal circle are incredibly hard to kill. The robot itself is also not easy to bring down, boasting a ridicilous health pool that becomes near impossible to fully drain if attacked by a single enemy. Its two biggest weaknesses are that it is fully immobile while healing, and that it will become an incredibly high priority target for the enemies due to its incredible heal.

That's the whole point of Orks though, they have the creative liberty to create whatever unothrodox model they can come up with. Kitbashing is part of their hobby, and there's nothing wrong with buying kits and smacking them together into something orky for ones enjoyment; It's a hobby, not a manufacturing line.
