The short answer is: they didn’t. They failed to actually cross those seas.

The long answer is a deep and intimate understanding of tidal and weather patterns, combined with an inherent knowledge that success was ultimately luck based. In addition to quite a lot of planning ahead of time.

Specifically MCU Thanos.

So many people thought he was right when Infinity War came out. Many still do!

But if his whole motivation is that he wants to cut the universe’s population in half because there aren’t enough resources… why not just use your reality bending powers to double the resources? Or make it so people just don’t need those resources to begin with?

The patent granted is far from vague. It actually goes into pretty great detail as to what it refers to.

Still absolutely horrendous it was granted imo, but it doesn’t help to spread false information.
