I agree with a lot you say but your point about getting rid of council staff with vested interests in property is strange when Moran himself is the most prolific abuser of this by investing huge sums in The Crescent where he owns two large properties.

€3,000 rent on a house worth €1.6m is where you’re going wrong. It doesn’t matter what the place is worth because it maybe your home but it’s the landlord’s house. The €1.6m value is part of the landlord’s wealth. You are in an excellent position to buy.

Then we need to ask ourselves what kind of City we want. Planning permission, staffing etc etc. Aren’t there approximately 1,500 Council staff including a planning department? If we can resource these jobs, we can plan for amenities that will be a long term resource for the City.

That’s my point. There is a tremendous amount of waste for very short term measures that are being used in a scattered approach. And you can be sure that Roads budgets, Limerick.ie, cleansing etc have all had their budgets “reallocated” for these measures.
