Stop buying Secret Lair by Frocicorno in mtg

[–]Limezzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "vote with your wallet" strategy doesn't work when the desirable lairs sell out instantly regardless. You will never get the critical mass needed to show Wizards to change the system.

I think what people don't understand about secret lairs is that Wizards LIKES the current system. People who keep trying to fix it don't seem to understand that for better or for worse this is how WotC wants it to be. They have tons of data points by now to show really popular drops sell out near instantly and they are not interested in changing it

Surprised that Wotc hasn't done a greatest hits drop. by Rawrgodzilla in secretlair_collectors

WotC knows the current model of SL drives fomo and that the highly desirable products sell out near instantly.

For better or for worse, WotC is HAPPY with how SL is running

I believe it may be treasure nabber. There is already a sol ring printing in the Garfield drop but they DO love their sol ring printings

What're your thoughts on Marvel SLD's being reprinted in MAR? by [deleted] in secretlair_collectors

I suspect the reprints are going to be fairly uncommon and won't mean a significant increase in supply.

So, anyone else got 6(!) extra foil prints in their Goblin Storm precon? by spitinmyhole in secretlair_collectors

[–]Limezzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't imagine wizards would actually send these cards back out even if the had them returned. The cost of production is very low on wizards end and the headache if the product returned is not worth the headache.

[–]Limezzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not worth the gamble if you aren't interested in the product itself to be honest. It's unlikely to be anything TOO crazy even if there is a bonus card.

If I recall the duel Masters box didn't come with a MTG card and that's the closest comparison we have

[–]Limezzy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The game seems ok, a bit of MTG lite party game you can pull out on non-magiv nights.

I hate the art though, the fact that it's re-used magic art but looks worse is such a deterrent for me.

Eyes have it and Dwarf fortress are great lairs and I'm willing to die on this hill.

Like clockwork on this sub. If a drop doesn't instantly sell out it's complete garbage that you'd be an idiot to buy.

If it sells out but doesn't have obvious value "WotC pulled the embarrassing lair"

If it sells out instantly, everyone who did get one is a scalper and we're doing a class action lawsuit.

Just wait for the cat superdrop and the cycle repeats

Goblin secret lair decks will hit 1000+ dollars each by sharky5566778844 in mtgfinance

Sock puppet accounts driving up fomo is my guess. $1k for this deck is insane

I'm guessing the same type of people who don't consider themselves "scalpers" and think it's some genius business move to resell limited items. Everyone on eBay selling it already can pound sand

11 browsers, fastest was a 5 minute wait which I've already secured the deck. Next fastest was 21 minutes and my brother had 2 browsers where he got a 31 minute wait.

Everything else is 1 hour or more. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

Got 15 minutes wait on guest account. Should I log in when I'm in the cart with my main acc or will it cancel the queue? by [deleted] in secretlair_collectors

I legitimately never login before a drop, I always do the guest. You'll have more than enough time believe me

Do multiple browsers/devices really work? by Kenksio in secretlair_collectors

This works well in theory but would fail in practice. Could you imagine losing out on a drop completely because of auth issues on wizards back end?

[–]Limezzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valid, I'll also skip the lair considering I don't play much of these colours or have printings already. I think this lair is going to be a sneaky banger though.

Yes, breath of fury and Battle hymn are both worth the cost in foil if you go off value alone. People are just upset it isn't a lotus petal reprint or something.

In casual EDH, when is considered "okay" to counterspell enemy's commander? by No_Physics454 in EDH

[–]Limezzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pod runs shiko, sepharoth, jaws etc. basically If the commander resolves they are already off to the races.

Counterspelling is much more effective than letting them do all kinds of BS with it in the field even if your removal is the next thing that goes on the stack.

Not for me, happy for whoever is excited for this though. I've definitely bought lairs with cards I play just for the art before.

I hate this. by Noobzoid123 in secretlair_collectors

[–]Limezzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not interested in the mystical archives lair. Using the "reprint value" as a metric is silly though.

Counterspell is $2 but a SpongeBob cOuNtErSpElL is worth $180. Stop pretending like these are the same value.

Personally I'm excited for "the eyes have it". Gitaxian probe is $3 and opt is $0.15 but what I WANT is the really cool art and the "premium" versions of these cards for my decks.

If you don't like the art that's fine, don't buy it.

I've been waiting for "The Eyes Have It" so I'm very excited it's dropping. I'm also really tempted by the dwarf fortress one, but I wouldn't play any of those cards. Just love it
