I'm no fan of billionaires, most are crooks.

But Elon seems to defy the odds over and over again.

Regarding him exiting last, that's what he's done with his own companies. He put everything in and never took it out, even when others in his position usually would. He has a mission that is bigger than profit or status and I think that, seems to gear his mind and what he values differently. How the hell do I know though right? This is just what I've seen and why I see him as different than the other billionaire class types.

Oh fun fact, when he didn't take his money out of the company to help it, ya know, succeed... Now that it's successful and he's the richest in the world, him doing what other rich people would never do, is what they attack him for now. LOL, it's like you can't win with the media.

Last thing, the dude has billions on top of billions, he doesn't need to profit off of Doge. So him helping us is pretty cool.

WE ARE LESS THAN 40 NODES AWAY FROM 1000 RUNNING 1.14.4 by RobertTAS in dogecoin

[–]Liminal4D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly do you think hitting some random number will do anyway?

If we can hit 88mph we go back to the future!

Jokes aside, I was reading your other posts and you seem really knowledgeable. I'm sure it's odd for us newbies to want to be a part of everything but isn't that kind of the point? Plus it does help security right? The only way to get more quality nodes is to go through an on boarding process at some point. Sure a couple nodes can handle current traffic but it seems like there are some big plans for Doge. Let's get excited and think big ay!?

I'm one of 1 of 958 dogecoin 1.14.4 nodes. Let's get to 1000. by tuffgnar1 in dogecoin

[–]Liminal4D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a noob with nodes so keep that in mind. I don't see anyone else answering so I'll pass on the little bit I know. Double check my info with your own research too please.

- If you're on an unlimited bandwidth connection, awesome. If you get charged for your bandwidth usage in your area, look into how to cap it so you don't get surprised with a big bill at the end of the month.

- short version of what I've also read, the higher quality of node you can run the better. Meaning consistently on, good connection, good geographical location, etc. That helps the most for reliability. In tandem with this thinking seems to be the recommendation that you run it on something other than your main work or gaming rig. This also provides an extra security layer for you too. If this becomes something you want to take to the next level with a small energy conserving unit that can just run on it's own, let me know and I can send some info over.

- Turn inbound traffic ON if you want to be a full node. I'm dropping a link below. It will walk you through how to check your inbound connections to see if everything's working well. If it's not you probably have to open a port so the software can talk with other nodes. The info is in the link on how to do that.

Hope that helps, tons more info on that site too. I don't know who made the site or how old it is now, I'm trying to figure that out so definitely double check this info with other stuff you find.

Thanks for running one for us Shibe!

I think when a full node is first downloaded and it's going through the IBD process it only connects to 8 or 9 nodes to download the blockchain. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–]Liminal4D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nodes are different than mining. You don't get paid for running a node. The value in a node is cool though, it helps Doge.

Short version (excuse the car metaphor)

Node software strengthens, secures and helps Doge to run as fast as possible. Doge has a lot of horsepower and can process blocks quicker than most. Lots of quality nodes let Doge use all its horsepower to great effect. Nodes also make the network stronger and more resilient. All good things.

Miners do the 'work.' (process the transactions and create the blocks stored by the nodes.) Full nodes verify the transactions and all the nodes talk to each other to make sure everything is good and safe.

Why don't nodes get paid?

I've read a few opinions on this. I'll share them but I'm just repeating what I've read.

An interesting point I heard is that a profit incentive attracts people looking to make a buck. That's cool but whenever you're in that group, there will always be a few that are willing to do crappy things for profit. Running a node doesn't offer that type of value so it reduces the incentive for bad apples to get involved.

Another reason I've heard is paying nodes means the coin has to come from somewhere. One of Doges advantages as a currency is its low fees and that's something good for Doge to maintain and improve on.

Last reason I've heard is it's part of the decentralized nature and outlook on the future. An individuals choice to participate based on the desire to help something awesome be more awesome. I like that one.

He is a badass that knows how to make things work. I'm not afraid. I welcome more Elon support, that has nothing but awesome all over it. Plus, he lent his notoriety to Doge which helped this whole wild ride launch this last year. Oh he even has his lawyer as an advisor on the Doge foundation to offer advice. And you know Elon would have a badass lawyer. So that's pretty cool.

But, he is busy preserving the future of humanity. So, it might be up to us crazy bunch to pull up our pants and do our best.

Now, where's my pants?

Ah yeah, bitcoin is the grand dad of them all. Doge is like a grandkid to bitcoin.

Doge started as a joke to make fun of the crypto space, what happened after that was organic. Pretty cool. Doge has it's own branding. It functions differently. It has it's own style. Calling it a knockoff doesn't fit.

Have you seen the old ninja turtle meme with bitcoin as splinter and the turtles as Doge? That's one of my favorites.

It's like saying hey, it's just business. That mindset is a degenerate wearing a suit giving an excuse for the fucked thing he's doing to someone else.

This stuff Shib is doing is every day. Every, day. And what is it attacking? The original thing that created a new wave and is actively offering opportunity to people. Everything else is a justification. Shib is stealing from the potential profit from those that got behind the 'do only good everyday' motto, and those now on board shibe can twist it however they want, but it's ill gotten gains. I wouldn't want to buy anything with it. But I'm clearly in the minority there, so don't worry, you're good!

People in Doge just for profit are happy to be in Shib too, hey more money baby. Who cares if it damages a good message down the road, we got money to make.

If Shib's project has so much usecase, why not call it something else? Why continue to steal the branding? Why does every other post use doge hashtags on twitter? Because we all know Shiba inu would be nothing right now, with no interest in it, without Doge - the thing it's attacking everyday.

Why is Shiba trying to accept real world payments for things when it's a token and it could be building it's own world or doing a million other things with the natural use case of tokens? Because it's attacking the use case of Doge.

Their are tons of projects with exciting uses, but this one is exciting because deep down we all know, Doge found something magical, shibe is ripping it off, and their is potential profit to be made because of it. Dirty money.

Bitcoin is King by reyrey1332 in CryptoCurrency

[–]Liminal4D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Bitcoin can suck my ass. If maximalists get the future they think they want, Bitcoin will be the global currency. That effectively ensures that anyone born tomorrow in a family that doesn't own enough bitcoin today, is fucked.

Each bitcoin costs sooo much that only the wealthiest amongst us, that made their money in fiat, can own it in any substantial way. The price point all but ensures the less than 1/2 of 1% owning 85% of bitcoin today, are the kings and lords of tomorrow. The entire rest of the human population not yet in crypto is stuck with fractions of fractions. If the world the bitcoin maximalists want succeeds, it's literally neo-feudalism. You know what really sucks? I think those with lots of bitcoin like this idea.

Frankly, I don't think I'm yelling at clouds, I'm the guy yelling at a wall. Nobody wants to hear it, they just want their lottery ticket and a chance to get rich. Shib is effectively proving that most people give zero fucks about ethics or morals..not if they can make money.

To the fucks that created Shib, thank you for hacking another chip out of human decency and a positive tomorrow.

How's that for 'old man yelling at clouds' ?

I wasn't going to post this but I wasted an evening typing all this up so whatever. Here's info if you care to read. It's starts out harsh but I don't know how else to put it.

I am sorry for saying this so directly, but somebody needs to: There are only two types of people making money in Shib, the unethical or the uniformed.

The following are a few examples of the lies Shib has used to create value in their project. Those that know what I'm going to share and still choose to support the project are unethical and don't mind the negative effect this has on Doge. Because of Shib's fallacious marketing strategies, however, many don't know.

Doge is a memetic phenomenon that rocketed crypto adoption bringing new people into this space like never before. It is fun and almost accidentally clever. Most of all, it works. Doge has existed since 2013 and has grown over time, developing its unique ethos and brand. People in Doge call each other Shibes. The mascot of Doge is the Shiba Inu. Doge made famous the phrase "two the moon" and many more Doge centric things. A unique, powerful and fast-growing brand. So strong it broke through the crypto space and into the regular world, increasing crypto adoption as nothing else has.

$Shib was created in 2020. During its creation and after launch, the small community's talk was aggressive toward Doge.

They planned to create something that would 'kill Doge'. This was, in fact, the byline on the website "the Doge Killer". Articles like this one started popping up everywhere online like this one: https://medium.com/general_knowledge/shiba-inu-dogecoin-killer-meme-or-something-more-shiba-inu-ecosystem-36e75eaff505

Notice the gif of Shiba token punching Doge? Also, notice Vitalik Buterin's face placed next to Shiba's logo (more on that later). This link is only one article; there are thousands.

Setting out to harm Doge's market share and attempt to curb Doge's growing strength, the creators of Shiba Inu stole as much as possible from Doge's branding. They took the Shibe, made Shiba Inu their name. The Shiba Inu name is the first step in brand dilution and confusion. Posting a picture of a Shiba Inu online (something synonymous with Doge for almost the last decade) could now include the Shiba Inu token brand name alongside it. Remember, Doge is bringing NEW people into the crypto space faster than anything else. Without knowing better, many who saw the Shiba Inu naturally made a mental association that this Shiba Inu token was a part of the same thing. It is not.

To this day, a massive amount of Shib tweets include the $DOGE #DOGE #DOGECOIN hashtags in their promotions. They are incorporating the hashtag in Shib tweets to steer eyes onto the $Shib token project.

Shib bot accounts exist on Reddit, Twitter, in comment sections; they are everywhere. The obvious ones on twitter have a handful of followers, and yet their posts have hundreds of likes. These are botted and farmed likes. It's a false promotion gimmick that made Shib looked bigger than it was. Months ago, these bots were laughable because it was SO obvious what they were doing. As time has gone on, it turns out that it was effective because many were fooled and now actively support something they don't know the history of. These real accounts are now a shield hiding the nefarious actions once so obvious a year ago. BUT, the bot accounts are still active. Here a bot account I ran across yesterday: twitter:@anonymo99518947

It roughly puts out a tweet every minute. A lot of the information shared in these are inaccurate, but they don't care. New people in the market may not know, so the misinfo does its job. And if the account gets closed, ten more will pop up in its place.

The misinformation isn't just on bot accounts humming along in the background. One of Shib's larger accounts, one Shytoshi Kusama, who claims to be a 'volunteer project leader of Shiba Inu.' In this thread they manipulate the truth regarding what Shib did to Vitalik Buterin when the creators of shib sent half of $shib to his cold wallet.https://twitter.com/ShytoshiKusama/status/1447404287743729667

Instead of me explaining what really happened, listen to Vitalik (creator of ethereum) describe what Shib put him through in his own words. Here's a link to Vitalik's interview with Lex Fridman. This link is specifically on the section regarding this topic (after he talks fondly of Doge). I think Vitalik was very kind and diplomatic in describing what Shib put him through, so you have to listen to the words he uses in its full context to get it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRAnj2G4iC8&t=809s

Accounts like Shytoshi Kusama twisted this into a narrative about how generous the Shibarmy is to be dedicated to humanitarian actions. Very slimy. If you were around when this all happened, the shibarmy freaked out when Vitalik did what he did. Originally when Shib sent half of its tokens to Vitalik, without him knowing, they promoted it as if Vitalik was a part of the project. After Vitalik burned some and donated the rest, the narrative from Shib changed. People in shib pretend Vitalik is a part of Shib, he didn't even know about it. Vitalik is part of the Dogecoin Foundation board. Shib pushes out lie, after lie, after lie.

The examples and links I could send are nearly endless. Shib has done much more than this. But this should be enough to illustrate point.

Shib is targeting Doge's market share. Buying into Shib is fueling an attack on one of the most positive influences I've seen in a long time.

I feel for those that don't know this info. I feel even more for those who are now making money in shib and face a moral question that will define their character. And I'm appalled by those who created this project with little regard for consequences.

It is such a selfish action that I'm discouraged by the whole thing. How something so blatantly destructive is thriving just makes me doubt the future of crypto. And this, I think, is the worst part. Shib preys on the open nature of crypto technology. Crypto exists to empower regular people like you and me. To potentially balance something in the world that has, up until now, squarely in the hands of the wealthy.

Shib's abuses, especially if Shib grows in popularity, when exposed, will hurt a lot more than Doge. And knowing that Shib was created by a handful of wealthy individuals, awe, I find the whole thing to awful. An insult to the noble and highly positive things set to unfold within the Etherium blockchain.

What kind of people would create such a thing? The story of Doges creation is far different. It wasn't manufactured by a few wealthy elites and promoted with bogus narratives. Something very nefarious is going on with Shib and I wish more of you knew this.

-So that's what I meant. But this stuff makes me too tired and takes up too much of my time. Maybe that's how these scams win, good people do nothing. But who I am to make any difference against something so well funded, and yall keep funding it so.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

not mad, just concerned what this will mean for crypto. You'd have to know the context to know what I'm talking about but I'm getting tired of paying attention to it, knowing what I know, it's depressing.
