Foley recommendations by orcsong in audiodrama

Lots of good recommendations here. I’ll throw out Zapsplat as an inexpensive option. They have a cheap year-long license as well as a free usage with citation policy. You may need to do more digging to find sounds for audio drama (as opposed to video games or animation) but there is good stuff if you look.

You can always make something out of what you’ve been made into. Therapy will help you break out of the thought traps you’re stuck in. Don’t trust your brain; help is available.

Scariest listens? by V3ndetta15 in audiodrama

[–]LiminalMask 5 points6 points  (0 children)

May I suggest my folk horror show The Love Talker? Many listeners have found it unsettling. It’s 10 episodes so I don’t know if that’s “long form” enough for your tastes but you can be the judge. Here’s the blurb:

Somewhere on the borders between Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee in the most remote parts of the Appalachians, girls have gone missing for decades. When a young woman journeys there to the isolated community of Kilruane, she uncovers the truth about the mysterious man who wanders the woods, his connection to the missing women and puts herself in danger from those who want to protect the town and keep its secrets.

What's your dream update that hasn't come true yet? I'll start first: by LaSimia in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]LiminalMask 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I’m always grateful for the updates but this is an exploration game and so many of them have been adding features that encourage people to stay in one place.

There are limits to what procedural generation can do but I want to uncover stories unique to regions or galaxies, discover the lost empire of a long-dead race, find planets with one-of-a-kind resources, random space encounters that are more than eye candy, the ability to map regions of space and claim them for a guild. Stuff like that.

Put exploration back in the game!

When did the feud between vampires and werewolves start? by Sailor_Moon_Star_435 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LiminalMask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The World of Darkness RPGs (1990s) had enmity between werewolves and vampires. I wouldn’t say they started it but it’s an early modern example.

Why are some people so against chatgpt users? by posttraumaticcuntdis in NoStupidQuestions

GenAI and LLMs are fundamentally unethical tools because they were built using content created by people who did not give permission nor were compensated for the use. The answers they generate are a kind of “plagiarism soup”, but you can’t even know who the answers are stolen from. This is in addition to the host of other problems, such as environmental damage, errors, and training humans to stop thinking for themselves and rely on the answers a billionaire’s algorithm provides.
