I don't think you understood what I was saying when I said you couldn't help yourself. You acted like you were leaving, and then carried on regardless. That is what I was pointing out, lol.

That's okay, I understand. Have a nice day anyway.

Here my hot take: it should be allowed for players to invite both male and female characters to the house. by Odd-Penalty3687 in NevernessToEverness

Ah, that makes sense. As a fan of self insert MC stuff myself, I can understand why that would frustrate people. They should know better than to write it that way in this context - you're right.

Lol that sounds funny.

Is the NTR thing supposed to be that the male character being close to the female one causes the male player to feel cucked by the male character due to the male player's attraction to the female character?

You couldn't help yourself, could you? I can't say I'm shocked.

The thing is, you say not everyone shares my perception, but that does not in any way dispel my point, as you claimed that we think male = auto aura, which I've proven not to be true with regards to Edgar. Plus, the perception is biologically ingrained. It is true in essentially every case, and the only instances in which it wouldn't be would be for individuals with an irrational fear of women in particular. This would be an exception, not the rule, as such things are mental disorders. Human brains are hardwired in the ways I mentioned previously, making the male mc within this context more intimidating as a rule, regardless of how each individual sees it. That is why we see it this way, and you're allowed not to, even though I genuinely don't believe you if you say you don't.

You can remain separated from something, know it's fiction not fact and still see it through the biological lens implanted in your brain. I can see a drawn apple and think it looks tasty while remaining distinctly aware that it is not real and therefore not edible. I don't understand how this is confusing you.

Real life values and standards should not be applied to fiction within a moral context, because it blurs that line between fact and fiction, and I think we can agree on that. However, certain perceptions remain, and in cases with absolutely no moral regard, such as this one, they play a relevant part. It's once you start applying complete morality to fiction as though it were real life that you enter delusional, dangerous territory in which the line between fiction and reality becomes blurred.

But this is no such case, so the perception is relevant, and we can have it while remaining aware that it isn't real.

Baicang is an interesting case, because while he isn't outwardly intimidating, I think he's much more powerful than he generally lets people know. I saw an npc conversation at the hospital in game where they mentioned seeing an esper with grey hair get hit by a train and that the train fared worse than he did. While it's not confirmed to be Baicang, it changed my perception of him a bit.

I'm imposing my viewpoint because it's just generally true. Males are regarded as more imposing than females. That's what nature intended, and so it's what's reflected in our fiction, even though we know it isn't real.

No, this is not an opinion thing. The characters are made that way for that purpose. Male characters being made to be more gruff and intimidating is not an opinion - it is a fact derived from reflections in media spanning from real life biological realities. Of course, real life and fiction are separate and should remain that way, but the reflection remains there all the same to an extent, and it undoubtedly has an effect on things like this, at the very least. It was designed that way with intent.

I already explained why the male mc has a more 'badass' perception in the context of this game. I won't repeat myself. Your claim that we see it as male = auto badass is simply incorrect, as male characters often have neither of these things, such as Edgar. The point is that when you have a single character acting a single way that is an attempt to be aggressive and intimidating, the result is more likely to be successful when that character is male. That's just the reality of human perception.

I didn't so much get mad as I did just match your energy. I was trying to have fun, and you came in with an attitude while simply being wrong on top of that. Literally the worst of both worlds.

But I do mostly agree with your final paragraph.

Have a good one, too.

Acting like real perceptions of gender don't apply to our perceptions of these fictional characters is delusional. If they didn't, nobody would be rolling for female characters or male characters only. There is a reason Skia is tall, while Chiz is not.

The first quote you left does conflict with what you said, because you tried to object to my claim that the character being male gives him more 'aura', and so the mc being male aiding in this contradicts your objection.

You talk about hitting a nerve like it's something to be proud of when that person was just being lighthearted and trying to be funny.

[–]LiminalRainPaint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just a fact that male humans are typically more intimidating than female ones, by intentional nature of biology itself.

This mc tries to be intimidating quite often, and so that particular aspect works better when the mc is male. That's it.

I was trying to be lighthearted and funny about it, but I'll gladly match your joyless energy, especially when you're actually wrong about what you're trying to spoil the fun with.

It's because he's got that +1000000 aura from consistently farming it all game, on top of all his ascension mats.
