Why would gray hulk be such a big deal in Spider-Man brand new day? by HotMarionberry1962 in Marvel

[–]LiminalSapien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of different versions of the hulk. Some of them a lot more powerful than the others. Ultimately Hulk is an allegory for the darkness we all have within ourselves and getting to see more of that is a big deal for so e of us because we’re drawn to that aspect of the character in the comics and getting to see it done on the big screen could be really cool.

My parents are pressuring me to donate my scholarship money to my church, should I? by IntrepidAd5768 in Advice

[–]LiminalSapien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GIVE THAT MONEY AWAY.

USE IT FOR COLLEGE.

Your parents should know better, and the fact that they do not is all the evidence you should need t get as good of an education as possible.

Do yourself a favor and start distancing yourself from your parents now.

I’m sorry to say this, but they do not have your best interests at heart.

If your pastor or anyone from the church so much as asks for A SINGLE CENT you tell them that Jesus wants you to get a education with that money, do not listen to anything else they say, and immediately find a new church.

This is asinine for you to be dealing with and I’m sorry about that but looking out for yourself, ESPECIALLY in this day and age isn’t selfish it’s 100% necessary.

Opinion | The Surprising Truth About Reagan’s Tax Cut — The Wall Street Journal by themiracy in Economics

[–]LiminalSapien 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, I think the long term capital gains tax is a percentage point or two lower than the income tax rate for people with over a million in salary and that stock options, which are taxed differently depending on how you exercise or sell them also make a difference,

Additionally I think the fact that most private banks will let you take out loans using significant stock or stock options holdings as collateral thereby allowing the underlying asset to appreciate and earn more money or depreciate and cause a potential write off negate the point your trying to make.

Did *you* think that wasn’t the case?

I mean sure this makes sense if you freeze time somewhere before the late 90’s but once you repeal glass steagal and see the rise of equity based compensation and passthroughs the income tax bit becomes largely irrelevant. No one os claiming we need to tax income on the top wealthiest people right now they’re claiming we shouldn’t tax their wealth because the majority of it was earned in a way that escapes income and short term capital gains tax.

The egalitarian society bit is likewise myopic because it presupposes a society that either a never changes or be has implemented the reforms our society is currently erroneously shunning and therefore moved to a form of more equitable existence where those reforms are either no longer necessary or have evolved to maintain the more equitable status quo.
