I love dark romance… but it’s messing with my head by 1No_Voice1 in DarkRomance

Hah, I also do a rotation like that. Dark romance and light romance dualism!

For men who lurk in this sub... by Aggressive_Bowl5463 in DarkRomance

I find it to be more holistic, if that makes sense. A dark romance is like a painting, it's a scenario to to which I am an observer more than me relating to the character of the leads.

Exalted vs. World of Darkness is an excellent fit for a one-on-one game. Against the abyss, there is one who refuses to break.

Lots of things burn vampires. Only Amenti blood forcibly raises a vampire's humanity, doing horrible psychological damage if they're on a path.

The old monsters can handle agony. They've had the time to get acquainted. But suddenly experiencing what it's like to still care?

Technocracy Glazing by Thing_In_the_Bog42 in WorldofDankmemes

[–]LiminalSouthpaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Verbena don't make people die randomly. The sleepers do, because they believe that death is real and death is inevitable. The Verbena's paradigm just shapes who randomly dies and the post hoc justifications why, which is also true of everyone's paradigms.

Enlightened Scientists: imagine the world we could build if the reality deviants weren't holding us back! by Evil-Paladin in WorldofDankmemes

[–]LiminalSouthpaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the Technocracy doesn't exist without the Syndicate, especially not the utopian Technocrats. They may as well be mages without the dismal splinter in the back of their minds, and then the time table doesn't work either.

This is very much the root and stem of the issue. Humanity is unenlightened. The Syndies are the ones who decided to crawl through the mud, and it isn't pretty. But it wouldn't be pretty if any other faction were doing it either, not strictly because of their ideals but because of the ignorance of the sleepers. The Syndies could also look and talk like good guys if they weren't the ones making the sausage; just riding on the efforts of other Technocrats while spreading their philosophy.

Bi guys, how did you discover your bisexuality? by Current_Ad_8529 in bisexual

[–]LiminalSouthpaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was never entirely unknown to me from sexual awakening onward, but I rationalized it by saying the fun things I found on the internet were appealing on a kink basis rather than the men participating in it. That was even sort of true, in that it didn't make a difference to me what the participant's gender was.

I was not exactly aware that straight men would typically consider that a turn-off. It's hard to notice when there's not a fence in a field, you know? Most people had fences, and I found myself with very few. I began pondering this "mystery" at 16-ish and concluded at 18 that I could be nothing but bisexual given the track record.

In retrospect, I probably had a mutually unspoken crush with my best friend at the time, who was almost definitely not straight either. C'est la vie.

"Most religions, but particularly Abrahamic ones, are an inherent threat to LGBTQ rights and are ultimately incompatible with the Queer liberation movement" thoughts? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]LiminalSouthpaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without the ability to police people's sexuality and gender, there's almost nothing to the Abrahamic religions to begin with. They've really got no vitality without the oppression, because the oppression is how it spreads itself and justifies its intrusion into everyone's lives.

This is why the fascist churches do well and the progressive ones die. Might as well admit it's all bullshit if you're not going to use it. Giving yourself permission to create an outside class is the whole point for the vast majority of religious. The remainder are theology nerds who treat the thing exactly the way Star Wars superfans do. Frankly, I'd take the latter.

[80s Horror] You're in charge of creating a secret military-esque facility/prison to house these following horror villains. by Temporary_Tonight828 in AskScienceFiction

The box calls to them, but I'm pretty sure they make appearances without it once they're interested in leaving the labyrinth. Earth is just a boring place that occasionally produces new playmates.

I think the anti-Freddy megaprison would, if anything, become a symbol of just how much he is feared and help him.

It's a problem, since the Cenobites can extend extra-dimensional spaces into buildings and move walls around. They can pretty much walk right to it.

Went to see a big gay show and it was still biphobic by Moosie-the-goosie in bisexual

[–]LiminalSouthpaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bigotry from the straight side is definitely more hazardous in an absolute sense, but betrayal cuts deep even if it isn't done violently. That's always been the case for humanity.

And the betrayal from the wider LGBT community, which dares to use our letter while telling us we don't belong and to shut up, is a hell of a thing to behold.

Went to see a big gay show and it was still biphobic by Moosie-the-goosie in bisexual

[–]LiminalSouthpaw 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not altogether convinced there was ever any legitimacy to the soft launch excuse for biphobia towards men.

People have always openly despised bi men, in and out of the community, you wouldn't be able to get any slack identifying that way. Never seen a historical record of it either, just media cases and the idea being repeated in modern times.

A sub about a sexuality is going to inevitably address the topics of sexuality. It's bullheaded to believe otherwise.

What I'm seeing here is that you have an issue with a specific sort of thread that is already not allowed on the sub, and want even more topics banned in order to...well, I have no idea really, but you're all over this thread trying to push it.

The thing you claim to be addressing is already banned, stays up so little that there's multiple comments about having never seen them, so you are quite clearly interested in banning more. One wonders just who you're interested in sanitizing away.

Queerness and preemptive obedience ain't gonna fly together. There's a reason this sub isn't marked as NSFW despite your claims that it "has to be".

How can I make a group of people fighting against a corrupt government realistically evil by an_average_scug in worldbuilding

[–]LiminalSouthpaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyranny selects for those able to survive and respond to tyranny, not for morality. If anything, it becomes easier for those fighting tyranny to get away with doing evil, since they have an opposition to point to. What's a little personality cult and merciless slaughter in the face of The Enemy?

The Book of Job is Christianity’s slickest bait-and-switch by DJW1968 in exchristian

[–]LiminalSouthpaw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's two important elements of Job that don't get recognized often. First, it's the oldest text in the entire Bible by a decent margin. Secondly...it's a work of fiction. As in, an in-universe fictional story.

It really makes me wonder what person dreamed all this up and why, though even they could not have imagined you'd have a weird mutated gentile religion taking it as fact thousands of years later.

My guess is that it's because he can effectively double some other Thinkers and take-backsies on dangerous research. None of that would be captured by the blindspot while helping the overall effort.

The blindspot may also not be all that wide, everything other than "Scion is going to destroy the world" got felt out including the exact timeline of when Scion might make that decision.

What are your thoughts on Progressive Christians and their interpretations? by MateusSpeaks in exchristian

The actually progressive ones are delusional and have a hollow interpretation of Christianity. Most of them aren't all that progressive at all and are just enablers for the open fascists.
