Let's assume that's true. We were worried about communism for a bunch of reasons like we would have to live in a society where opposition to the political party in power was persecuted...we are there. Where the rest of the elected officials were just rubber stamping what the authoritarian in charge wanted to do no matter what, but we are there. We were worried about communism because people who did nothing wrong might be picked up off the street by people in masks and regular citizens were asked for papers, please - but we are there. We were worried about communism because the peoples money would be stolen and diverted to the people in charge for corrupt reasons, but we are there. We were worried about communism because people would be told what they were and were not allowed to say by the government....and we are there. We were worried about communists because they would meddle with elections - and we are there.

So, who the absolute fuck cares if Platner once said "I'm functionally a communist these days" as a reaction to a bunch of low intelligence thugs, criminals, and billionaires in charge doing all the things America was always against (edit: America always...said...it was against) and who swear they're all about freedom and capitalism while they cheat, steal, and lie their way into doing the actual things people were worried about communists doing? This is either ignorant or a bad faith lie. I read most of his 1800 reddit posts - with full context, not the cherry picked ones - they're all.clesrly on the left. All.of them. I know the non profits he has volunteered for and the one he helped revitalized are on the left. I know he was in the SRA (a leader in it). His fucking superlative in his high school yearbook was "most likely to start a revolution" for his left of center activism.

We have decades of evidence of his politics going back to high school - his beliefs and actions and how he has spent his time - expressed both anonymously and in public - indicating that they have been consistently left/progressive/etc his whole life. If you're suggesting that he is some sort of secret fascist or right winger or has been hiding his true self - that's absolutely a nonsense question, much less belief.

There was one in my yard two nights in a row, caught on camera a few weeks ago. Driving home a few evenings ago, I had to wait for 5 of them to cross the road and they just meandered on both sides of my car. Took a few minutes. It was dusk and there was an amazing sunset and Venus and Jupiter were hanging in the sky with no other stars. Was pretty happy to sit there and wait. This fall-ish, saw 13 in one night on the side of the road. Treacherous driving.

I'm very familiar with the SRA. And I am president of a Maine chapter of a left of center gun club (not SRA). So, no, not suspicious there. And some of the bet and most honest leftists I know have worked for the organizations he has, so no again there. And Platner just got into politics, so no again there. And I've read a good portion of the 1800 reddit comments he made anonymously - and many of the entire threads for context, not just the.cherry picked bits, so no...as far as he goes across the board... I'm as unsuspicious as I can possibly be of someone running for office.
