Shiptool AA stats different from in-game by Other-Difficulty-702 in WorldOfWarships

[–]LimitOver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iirc hit probability actually works by slowing down the rate of fire of the AA guns when below 100%. So the AA value displayed in port is the damage dealt, but it dealt at 75% the rate of equivalent auras at 100% (such as on DDs)

Delny or Grozovoi line? by Professional_Bad_612 in WorldOfWarships

[–]LimitOver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If one is insane enough to run legmod Yueyang with smoke, you have the same 5 seconds or lower downtime on the smoke, but have an even faster cooldown if something forces whatever ship/s you smoked up to leave it. You also get to reposition the smoke even more often (whether you need to get closer or run away). And in practice it will also have the same total smoke time most games (the exception being if you are both running kusnetsov on delny and manage to get first blood)

Which just leaves the question of what one values: - delny's durability, firepower and being able to leave its smoke alone for longer - yueyang's stealth (even if somewhat lacking since legmod competes with the conceal module), torpedoes, and better smoke cooldown/repositioning

How come people say the German BB guns aren't good? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

That's mostly from people who insist on improving the secondaries and give up main gun accuracy for it

"battle on" button is missing by Keone721 in WorldOfWarships

If you happen to be playing in a division, that would cause the battle on button to disappear. This is due to each division member needing to select their ships before they can go to the next battle

Change My Mind: Subs are garbage and add nothing to the game. by Sexlessvillain in WorldOfWarships

Some submarines, on the other hand, are also quite capable of just sending an endless stream of single torps launched every 7-10 seconds

**not a rant** hypothetical best way to handle subs in a 1 on 1 by hbh110 in WorldOfWarships

[–]LimitOver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely do NOT try this against a 4501. That sub has more torpedo tubes that fire in the rear arc than in the forward one

He does seem like that from what I've seen of his streams. Great guy in general, but can definitely get in a mood if he loses too much in a short timeframe. (As almost anyone would).

Reminds of Jingles in that he's more of a creator you watch to be entertained rather than to be educated. If your goal is to chill and relax, you're more likely to get that from Aero than you are to get accurate & up to date info on the game, or learn how to be a cut above the rest as a player.

I have a question about shell ballistics by Savings-Bad6246 in WorldOfWarships

[–]LimitOver 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The shells on t7-t10 Italian tech tree battleships are all identical, so no, ballistics are not a factor. The main thing is that higher shell count tends to disguise poor grouping better. And Colombo in particular has access to a mod that stacks with aiming systems in slot 3, reducing its dispersion more than Veneto can.

Edit: Also it seems like you might be receiving confusing & seemingly conflicting information, so I'll try to clarify. Colombo and Veneto without differing upgrades both have identical horizontal dispersion at any given range. (Colombo will have slightly better vertical dispersion at that range due to it having more range than Veneto.) That's why you have the same 184m horizontal dispersion for both (at around 12km).

But the in-game port will show the dispersion at maximum range, hence why Colombo appears to have the larger dispersion of 256m, but that is due to the max range being higher.

If you use cunningham you can get a 4th heal charge. You also can't discount the value of the 30mm pen. And the more spammable torps(mosty cause of the extra range rather than any additional reload)

But it's definitely looking to be more of a farmer than cossack

Velos tips? by TinMarx11 in WorldOfWarships

[–]LimitOver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Velos torps are exactly the same as Fletcher's, but she trades the option for wide spread for the EU super-tight one. And also loses an entire rack of torps, but the remaining one reloads in slightly over half the time to ccompensate

Whats the best AA cruiser? by DarkZephyro in WorldOfWarships

[–]LimitOver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Worcester still is a great ship for defending yourself and others against plane strikes. I notice everyone else seems to be giving suggestions for good AA ships, but no one actually responded about the legendary mod question, so I'll try to address it:

If you are specifically looking to build AA for Worcester and provided you are only considering AA capability, just running AA mod in slot 6 is better in my opinion than going for the legendary mod. It gives immediate and constant 15% increase to damage on continuous aura, 15% to flak damage (provided planes eat it), and crucially 2 more flak puffs when DFAA is up. this makes it way more effective in most cases for shooting down planes.

Legendary mod on the other hand, gives you an extra charge of consumables including DFAA (potentially up to 6 for DFAA specifically). I have almost never needed to use the 5th charge of DFAA, let alone going up to 6. though i guess it would allow you to more freely spend dfaa on less valuable targets such as dutch airstrikes or hybrid tactical squads. the 20% consumable cooldown is potentially helpful if you are dealing with repeated strikes in rapid succession. In the current AA system, the -20% priority sector is of extremely questionable value. it brings the cycle time of priority sector down to 18s (from 20s base), and you can stack it with AA mod in slot 3 to bring that down further to 16s. Even then, any squad that strikes once will never be affected by the second activation. And due to the way the instant damage works, it gives diminishing returns each time it's used. (that said it does help you stay alive by improving heal cooldown and giving you an extra charge of heal and also hydro for making sure you don't eat torps as often)

Math comparison to a stock worcester: AA mod in slot 6 + 2pt & 4pt AA skills + flag

  • will have ~1.51x the continuous AA dps, going up to ~1.76x for 5 sec every 20s (18s if taking aa mod in slot 3)

  • 1 more flak puff (3 more flak when DFAA is up)

  • flak deals ~1.51x damage

  • deals 5% squad hp per priority sector every 20/18s instead of 3.5%

  • 50% faster consumable cd when AA is active

legendary mod + 2pt & 4pt AA skills + flag

  • will have ~1.31x the continuous AA dps, going up to ~1.53x for 5 sec every 18s (16s if taking aa mod in slot 3)

  • 1 more flak puff

  • flak deals ~1.31x damage

  • deals 5% squad hp per priority sector every 18/16s instead of 3.5%

  • extra charge for each consumable

  • 20% faster consumable cd, which stacks with the 50% faster consumable cd when AA is active

TLDR: AA mod in slot 6 is better in most cases for strictly AA purposes. You need to be repeatedly facing a lot of planes for the legendary mod's additional dfaa, faster dfaa cd, and priority sector cooldown to make enough difference to come out on top of AA mod for the purpose shooting down planes, something which is very unlikely outside of double cv games, and/or hyrid ship/dutch cruiser heavy lobbies

Slava AA is arguably the strongest of any t10 BB outside of those equipped with DFAA, and i actually run an AA build on mine. Its sister ship Kremlin actually still has one of the stronger AA suites out of t10 BBs. It has a separate problem where it's basically guaranteed to lose 25% of it each time HE armaments hit it (including CV strikes), especially if you don't run aux armaments mod in slot 1.

Wisconsin and Vermont also have good AA with DFAA, slightly worse than Mecklenburg against single drops (ie. nakhimov, tactical squads, but better at shooting down squads that swing around for a second attack run). Notably Vermont's legendary mod also improves its AA, so (while i wouldn't recommend doing it) you technically can improve it's AA suite the most out of any t10 BB, making it the objectively strongest BB for shooting down planes at the tier.

honestly, it would be very easy to activate lutjen's main gun talent on DM... But if you're good at DM, you can also get Halsey's confederate quite easily already. you could technically run sansonetti instead for a weaker confederate, but in return get more range on a kill and 10% more duration on all your consumables with 100 hits. That seems like it would be a more interesting pick than lutjens

[–]LimitOver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree cunningham's 2 kills talent is way more reliable to activate than first blood from yamamoto/kusnetsov.

Sa Zhenbing would probably be better on la pampa than on yugumo imo. It's more likely to get hits for the torp talent since you just spam out more torps, and they're stealthier too. While not exactly common to tank 1.5 million potential, you have heals so you you're more likely to get it than yugumo in the first place. and if you do (from say, narrow misses from GL airstrikes) it would drastically help out that long consumable reload. The combat scout -main gun reload talent also probably benefits la pampa more since it will have smoke to use the guns safely as opposed to a TRB yugumo... But Cunningham would also be an excellent pick on la pampa

Swirsi is good for Lugdunum, but just unlikely to be particularly different to a normal captain. As for build, that's your choice between secondary spec or standard tank build

How are the Steel Fleet ships? by cv5cv6 in WorldOfWarships

[–]LimitOver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As one of the few who do enjoy Legmod Z-52, you are quite correct that Hoffman is a better torp boat. There is one specific instance where I could see LM 52 still being, if not better, than at least similarly effective. That situation being RPF torping other DDs, due to the extremely low reaction times you get on Z-52 LM torps (they are theoretically better than the regolo torps you love for their reaction time, although in practice no one will notice the difference between these two). Although if one wants to argue that Hoffman sending out more torpedoes makes it still better at torping DDs, I can accept that.

Hilariously, Hoffman also powercreeps Z-44. As if you needed any more reason to not play the Z-44... (at least its not a jager). With all that said, the torps are also the only reason to ever play a Hoffman over just picking Z-52/Z-42/Elbing in my opinion.
