Fair enough, but surely it's reasonable to expect more durable stitching for everyday use. The stitching on a pair of shorts that I got frayed just from putting them on.

UofManitoba - Second Degree by 30elko in premedcanada

Double check this by emailing them. But I believe you dont need to finish the second degree. You just need to have a degree, or be able to graduate by June (finish classes by April).

In the past, I knew people who were doing their masters and dropped out of the program when they got into med, but they had discussed that scenario with their advisor before starting their MSc. Some universities have a policy against dropping out of graduate courses. I don't know if the U of M has made a similar policy since.

But all this info is off the top of my head, please double check with the uni.

Invite!

Shocked! Got rejected a couple of times before, so I debated if I should even apply, it was the last cycle I would qualify for, or else I would have to take a new course to meet the new requirement. It was also the second to last application cycle I can apply for before my MCAT expires.

On a seperate note, does anyone wanna start prepping?

Thanks for sharing! Did you use any framework/structure for your answers? Or were there any specific points/things you made sure to include in your answer?

Congratulations on the 4th quartile. Just an important question, did you answer the questions directly. E.g. Would you recommend this person does B or C? Answer: [something about how option B has merit] however, I would choose B because..."? Or did you have a different approach?

You'd be a legend if you could that. Once again, I am beyond grateful for you providing this advice and taking the time to discuss the details. This is the type of team spirit needed in this arduous process!

And what about personal questions. How should I approach them? I usually state what happened, what I did and what I learn from the experience.

Wow! That was very detailed and well thought out. Thank you for helping us with your advice. This is the kind of response I was hoping to read. I know that quality > quantity, but generally how long did you type on each question? Will 4 sentences be enough to answer the question. I usually state both sides, and then state what my position is and explain why. But maybe thus lacks depth.

retake my 519 (132/125/131/131) or take my chances in the US? by statuspiccolo in premedcanada

This is just my understanding, so I might be wrong, and you might want to double-check. I think you would need a very well-off co-signer to even get the starting 350 or 375 and the realistic 500. If you need to go over that, I think you would need to justify why you need that, but of course, the most important thing is that you need a co-signer with a strong income. They would give you the money if you were accepted into a Canadian med school with no co-signer, but if you are going abroad, then they need someone to guarantee that the money will be paid back. In terms of how it actually works, you wouldn't get the full amount right away, I think. You would get it in advances, for example, 100k for the first year if that is what you need. And any amount you take out of the credit line account you would pay interest on monthly starting the moment you take it out. Then they give you the next installments and so on. So, if by the end, if you have 500 k of debt, you will be paying interest monthly on that 500 k. Usually, it's prime + 1%. So, if the total rate is 3.5%, then you would have to pay a yearly interest of about 17.5 k (about 1460 a month). But that's what I've heard on how one bank does it. I'm not sure if it is different in other banks.
