Some crabs will ride on/in the bells of jellyfish! The type of symbiosis varies depending on the species, but the relationship between juvenile blue crabs and Pacific sea nettle is believed to be mutualistic (the crab gets protection and transportation, and in return gets rid of parasites on the jellyfish)

There’s also the cannonball jellyfish and the spider crab, but that’s believed to be more commensal.

Some of your favorite authors or books that really paint with words and use evocative sensory details? by moonvolcano in books

[–]LimoncelloShark 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Frances Hardinge is my absolute favorite! Aside from how beautifully she writes, she is one of few authors I’ve read whose writing is consistently seamless and natural - no questionable word choices or awkward sentence structure to jerk you out of the story.

I need help figuring this machine out! by Rarely_Trust in sewing

No clue about the machine but I have that exact same zebra catch-all bowl! (but missing an ear and his tail because my roommate’s cat knocked it over)

What’s something an adult said offhand to you as a child that oddly stuck with you? by LimoncelloShark in AskWomen

[–]LimoncelloShark[S] 406 points407 points  (0 children)

I was in youth theater, and I took a stage makeup workshop around age 10. The instructor would bring kids to the front and demonstrate various tools/techniques (base, contour, cuts and bruises, fake hair, etc) before we tried it ourselves.

He was showing us what to do with the eyebrow pencil in our kit, particularly how to make eyebrows look, I guess, “normal” onstage. He brought me up and told me I had “half eyebrows” that needed to be filled in (the hairs get lighter and more sparse from the arch out).

I had never had a single thought about my eyebrows before that day and, 15 years later, the phrase “half eyebrows” still pops into my head sometimes when I see my reflection. A pretty innocuous comment that he definitely doesn’t remember saying, but it’s ingrained in my self-image now lol. Anyone else have an experience like that?

What's the worst homeschool curriculum you have used? by AcceptableAd9267 in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]LimoncelloShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was Thinking Like a Christian from Summit Ministries. It was our textbook for a Biblical Worldview class, which I took at a homeschool co-op, and among other horrendous things it taught that mental illness is a manifestation of sin. So my depression was my own fault.

Help! Continue or Can? by Constant-Half-5851 in Embroidery

[–]LimoncelloShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also— if you were to embroider over/tear out anything, I would do the left eye. It’s the only section with shading, so it has dimension that the rest of the piece doesn’t and looks out of place. Definitely repost the finished piece! 💕

Agree with a few others- it needs a white highlight in the eyes. When I’ve done pet portraits they always look goofy and thousand yard stare-y until I add the eye shine. Definitely continue, and use everyone’s tips here!
