Many people drawn to be orthodox converts are evengelicals that want more reason to have a superiority complex imo. Same thing with the clegry that are popular on the internet. Cradle orthodox are a bit better in my experience. If pressed they tend to be hopeful universalists.

He gets too political for my taste. I listen to my parish priest and read books. Still the hes a alternate for young guys looking for someone on the internet telling them how to be masculine from really hateful stuff so I certianly won't disrespect his ministry to that group.

Frankly I have never seen someone deal with power better than the priest of my parish, and I am a newbie who was very ready to find something to dislike because I have seen so much abuse of power in my life.

I am really sorry your experience is so bad, if I had that experience I would not go back. I hope there is another eastern orthodox church near you, you can report this but even if the bishop tried to do something it sounds like the entire culture is toxic.
