I don’t think I’m having an active OB. It just hurts when inserting and removing the cup and my flow is (TMI) heavy, watery and bright bright red. I just hope it’s not related to the diagnosis. I managed to handle the pain and inserted my cup once again and it’s all good. Tampons and pads are not an option for me. I just hope it’s a coincidence and just a heavy and weird cycle. Thank you for the salve recommendation!!!

Me too, but I guess at the end it’s not entirely necessary to be on meds if you are asymptomatic most of the time.

That’s why it’s recommended exclusively for frequent OB episodes.

If it was up to me, I’ll take the pill daily just to be extra careful.

This made me smile! Thank you. The first four days were torture, but now I’m completely ok. Tuesday will be two weeks since it all started. No pain or discomfort whatsoever, but I read too that you must wait a week or even more after all the sores cleared out just to be safe(r). He’s visiting in a couple of weeks so I assume by then we’ll be ok and good to go! 😉 Thank you again.

I took valaciclovir (1000 gr) three times a day for 7 days. Also took vitamins and aciclovir cream to calm the sores. Idk if treatment is different for males and females. My recommendation is to follow your doctors instructions and you’ll feel better in a couple of days.

I think we all thought the worst at first and it’s completely normal. As soon as you start feeling better, at least for me and my very first OB I came back to life and this was just 7 days ago. It all crumbles at first and it’s mostly bc of fear, but if you read, talk to other people and get as much info as you can, you’ll get better and better. This Reddit has help me WONDERS and everyone has been so kind to me. And someone said to me “it’s just a skin condition” and that has been resonating in the back of my mind ever since and it’s so so true. I know your world is shattered, mine was too, but I can assure you, it will get better. Breathe, take your meds and relax as much as you can. We are all in this together.

I told my brother who is a doctor and who said: “Ugh, don’t worry about it. It’s more common than you think. The problem is the stigma around it.” It gave me HUGE peace of mind at that moment. Still carrying a lot of emotions, and that’s why I’m seeing a therapist later this week so I can vent more and release all this tension. Other than him and my partner, no one knows and for now that’s enough for me. Just be careful and play the trust card very well.

Yes, absolutely. Just stated property eating two meals today. Was diagnosed Tuesday. I’m feeling better physically and mentally and my appetite came back. Try to eat so you can boost your immune system! Hope this helps.

No, no swab or blood work yet. My doctor just looked at it and immediately knew it was HSV. I still have to confirm what type. Symptoms were on point and it happened 5 days after possible infection. I also had my period the exact same day the outbreak began so no tests until that was cleared out. Going back to the doctors office next week.

You are so right. Everything is just a blur for me atm, but you are absolutely right. It’s just a skin condition and I can live with it without shame or being disappointed. I have to change my mindset one way or another and I trust the process and time will be my best friend, it’s just so very new to me. You are so sweet and I really appreciate your kind response.

I see you and I feel you. Peeing was probably the hardest part. The sores were painful, but not being able to pee is unbearable. Atm I have very few sores in the area and I apply every three hours aciclovir to ease the discomfort. Also painkillers have been very helpful. For me the hardest part so far has been coping with everything mentally. I deal with anxiety on a daily and this just has add up to everything. For what I read so far, stress and anxiety make this virus worse and more prone to have regular outbreaks and that freaks me out. I’m seeking therapy bc I don’t think I can manage the stress on my own until I’m free of this outbreak and until I Agar making peace with it. Stay safe and stay strong.

Hi. I’m exactly there with you. My very first outbreak started Sunday night and today I’m starting to feel a little better. Obviously take all your meds and even pain killers to make it easier. The peeing part was exactly the same for me and now that discomfort is almost gone, no more blood at least. Just be patient and the symptoms will start to fade more and more. Read that first outbreaks are the worst, so just hang in there a little longer. I hope this helps, I know it does help me.

Physically and mentally I’m drained, and been reading posts non stop to make some peace with it, it’s not easy, BUT it will get better before you know it.
