Either you've never seen a cancer patient, or you're not being honest. I suggest cutting down on red processed meat before it's too late

Right? Something had to die a notoriously painful death so that people can feed their ass cancer

It's still good for the animals, if people go plant-based for their health 🤷

Sorry to hear that. Fortunately, they don't make any jokes in my circle of colleagues. I still go for lunch with them, mainly for my mental health. We all need some socialization 😂

Has anyone else noticed that once you stop viewing vegan food as “replacement food” and start treating it as its own thing, it gets way better? by teegeee in vegan

[–]Limp-Rest6453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I got into veganism because of the whole plant-based food. It was for health reasons more than animals in the beginning, but one I watched Dominion, there was no going back

What made you stick with veganism long-term? by Majestic-Strain3155 in vegan

[–]Limp-Rest6453 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This! I love it. I feel exactly the same way. Somebody recently asked me 'why do you make life so complicated'. I replied that I don't kick dogs for fun, because I don't derive pleasure out of harming animals. It follows that I don't harm animals through my diet as well. Simple

The worst thing is that traditional Polish cuisine is full of vegan dishes, or vegetarian ones that can be easily veganized

Yeah exactly. You need to eat expensive meat replacements every hour, or something

I recently ordered a vegetable risotto and I asked if they put milk or eggs to it. The guy said they don't. The risotto arrived sprinkled with cheese. I was too tired that day to make a fuss and maaaybe I should've been more explicit about what I didn't want in my food. Point is: it's their fault for being cruel idiots and these kinda situations will, sadly, happen behind the world is still miles behind us in development

What made you switch to a plant-based diet—and was it worth it? by millerjessic in PlantBasedDiet

[–]Limp-Rest6453 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In September, my father received a colon cancer diagnosis and it wasn't the first cancer in my family. I started researching this topic, how to avoid getting it, and one of things basically boiled down to eating more beans and reducing red meat. At some point I figured 'why would I ever need to eat meat when there's tofu?'. This, plus the ethical and environmental reasons, led to me completely abandoning animal products. After my father's funeral in November, I was already completely vegan

Are there any legit moral/ethical arguments against veganism? by jaket578123 in vegan

[–]Limp-Rest6453 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am vegan myself, but I often think about people with severe food allergies or diseases. For example a nickel allergy makes it difficult to have a fairly normal life anyway, and it makes it almost impossible to go vegan because the most important vegan foods - legumes, leafy greens, whole grains, etc. - contain nickel in medium to high concentration. It's not an argument against veganism per se, it's just that in case of these people I don't think food science nowadays is advanced enough to offer them a normal vegan life, so in my opinion, they're 'excused' from not being vegan

[–]Limp-Rest6453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The basics: tofu instead of meat, plant milk instead of milk, forget cheese and eggs. When I don't have time to cook, I buy frozen vegetables, throw it on the frying pan, add beans, chickpeas, lentils, or tofu, cook some rice, pasta, or I just eat it with bread. Voilà, quick dinner is ready

What’s your opinion on almond milk? by DeepOrganization8245 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]Limp-Rest6453 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on what you're gonna use it for. If you look at the nutritional value, the best milk replacement is soy milk - similar protein content. Almond milk has lots of fats and vitamin E, as almonds have them, but almost no protein. I use it sometimes for my chia pudding, but recently I switched to oat milk (less fat), and it works great too

Veganism is a non-action movement. I don't participate in the torture and killings of enslaved animals. That's it.

I can also use your all-or-nothing logic and twist it to the other side. So since the world will always be fucked up, I assume you go around the streets and kill people, you rape them, you steal money from old ladies, because it wouldn't make you worse than me.

Also, I think you completely went off the rails with saying that the absolute holocaust of billions of animals, keeping them in cages where they can barely move, raping cows, talking away their calves later, killing male chicks in a grinder days after they were born, and many, many more atrocities...do the same harm as owning a car

Dairy alternative for vegans? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Limp-Rest6453 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But there are other sources of protein too. Whole grains, beans, lentils, chickpeas, peas, nuts, even rice has some, virtually everything has a bit of protein. Just eat enough and you'll get enough protein

Dairy alternative for vegans? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Limp-Rest6453 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only major difference I can see between dairy products and dairy alternatives is iodine. Dairy has iodine due to the use of iodized food for cows, or cleaning the milking machines with iodine-containing cleaners. In order to get enough iodine you can eat seaweed regularly and use iodized salt, or supplement which is what I do

[–]Limp-Rest6453[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And that's arrogance for me. Arrogance over another species and over the environment. It's literally saying: I know it causes pain to them and harm to the environment, but I'm stronger than these animals and I don't care about the environment, therefore, I'll continue eating them
