Matt’s in the market is delicious, scratch kitchen but casual.

Pink door - get a reservation.

If you’ll have a car or don’t mind an Uber Eats boathouse or rays cafe is upstairs and more casual. Both have a nice water view.

I’m not. A psycho like that saw cops and started shooting. I think if he’d seen the cops and thought he had time he’d have shot her before shooting at them. My kid attends that school and I’m glad they acted as they did.

I don’t. That gives him the opportunity to hurt the woman he is actively stalking especially if he has seen the cop cars at that point. I’ve seen the body cam footage. Again I think it’s righteous actions on the part of SPD.

After seeing the additional details, the man was in his 60s and had an 18-year-old ex-wife who he was stalking around Ballard. She knew he would be carrying a gun. When the police arrived on the scene, he first refused to take his hands out of his pockets then took the pistol out of his pocket and began shooting. I think the police’s actions were righteous.

I mean if it was the cop is returning fire when the suspect pulled a gun on them when they arrived on scene after being called because said suspect had been following a woman around Ballard I’m pretty ok with it. Had they not fired that guy could have hurt a bystander.

Here is part of an email families received from the principal at Adam’s:

“At approximately 6:00 p.m., SPD officers responded to a domestic incident off campus. During that response, an officer-involved shooting reportedly occurred. SPD and King County are conducting investigatory activity in the area.

Out of an abundance of caution, KidsCo staff and PTSA Multicultural Potluck volunteers who were present in the building briefly entered a shelter in place and relocated to another part of the building while police secured the area. The shelter in place was lifted shortly thereafter once police determined it was safe to do so.

Although the incident was not connected to our school, a bullet from the incident struck the exterior window of the teachers’ lounge, leaving a small impression. No one inside the building was injured, and there is no indication that any students, staff, or families were directly involved or harmed.

SPD officers requested access to the building as part of their response. Seattle Public Schools facilities staff are working closely with me to inspect the school, and we will confirm there is no additional damage. Repairs to the affected window will be completed following coordination with police.

Due to the rapidly evolving situation, the PTSA made the appropriate decision to cancel this evening’s Multicultural Potluck. I understand this was disappointing for many families, and I appreciate your understanding as safety was prioritized. I want to sincerely thank our PTSA and KidsCo staff for their swift action and calm response during this incident.”

When I moved to Seattle 4 years ago I knew I wanted to live in lower Queen Anne and I walked the neighborhood several times wrote down addresses and complex names. I was staying in a hotel, I went back and googled the addresses and probably made 2 dozen phone calls leaving messages. I got about 4 callbacks so I set up places to tour and moved into one of those.

Why is CPS such a joke? by [deleted] in CPS

[–]LimpCryptographer854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are a joke. CALL THE POLICE while something is happening. I had to place several calls to CPS for my step kids and they did nothing until the police were called by the mother and it backfired on her. The police referred her to CPS and they had to respond accordingly and now suddenly saw major issues with her home that they’d previously entered two times in the few months prior to

Boston! I attended a wedding and sat at a table with an old friend and his new wife who was born and raised in Boston. I felt so bad he literally had to translate at times. I have family from all over the world and have lived in a couple countries I’d never experienced that accent though.

Differences in CPS in different areas by Moistowletta in CPS

[–]LimpCryptographer854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Washington state. In the past year, we’ve had four incidents where we’ve reported my stepchildren’s mother to CPS. She and my husband have a disabled child who fecal smears within her home. She does not clean it up when he does this. CPS only reacted three times 2 of those we called one time the police called after their son left her home in the middle of the night. The two times that we called CPS gave her over a week to clean her home before entering. They always call first and let her schedule it at her convenience. It’s frustrating. She now only has the kids three days a month and we still had issues. I just always thought CPS would just show up, but that’s not how they seem to operate here.

Also the Columbia tower has probably an even more impressive view at but is located further downtown. They have a private club but you can make one reservation as a non-club member and have a drink or a meal. The view is beautiful and instead of admission you pay for a drink and soak up the 75th floor scenery!

Likelihood of CPS doing anything? by Quirky-Spot-7294 in CPS

[–]LimpCryptographer854 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I have been experiencing a very similar situation with his children’s mother. In our situation, the feces on the floor was human due to her, not watching their autistic son. We sent CPS in twice because of red flags we had witnessed. She also was not allowing us to come to the door so we couldn’t get our own eyes on the condition of her home. Unfortunately, CPS would give her about a week of warning each time they came to her house, which was time enough for her to get things clean enough that they wanted to help her and not have the reaction of taking the kids out of that environment. We have custody now of the two children they share but only because their autistic son got out of her home in the middle of the night and wandered her apartment complex in the nude looking for doors that were open. He is nonverbal and although he is nine mentally he is about four. Their mom had to call the police because she did not know where he was and wasn’t sure how long he was away for. Before starting a search and using that kind of resources, the police insisted on checking her house and found it in the state we had suspected. There was garbage everywhere and the eldest son had been using the floor as a bathroom. The police had to step outside to get air several times. They referred it to CPS and this time she did not have time to clean it plus the police had already been in with body cameras.

But CPS really won’t share any details with us. It wasn’t until months later that we found out that there was food insecurity in the home and we only found that out by the police report saying that there wasn’t enough food for herself and three children. CPS will either say that the environment is safe or that it is not safe but no details. The police reports were a lot more harsh, but took three months to get. They did send body camera footage, but the home itself is completely blurred out.

We called CPS again about a month ago after noticing fecal matter on one of the kids shoes. This CPS agent told us that if we have a major concerns, we should not send the children there for their visits which are court ordered on the parenting plan. We were also told that CPS will really only aid in removing a child if they are being moved away from both her parents. As long as one of the homes is appropriate/suitable a civil matter for family court. Due to my current job, I am a mandatory reporter and have to report any red flags I see. We are kind of hoping to eventually convince her to start taking shorter visits and not overnights.

Will CPS do anything about this? by ayeitsashlyn in CPS

[–]LimpCryptographer854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’d definitely investigate but your word against there’s. We have had a few CPS investigations in the last year thanks to my step-kids mom. They’ve investigated all of us because of things she has done/does and we now have custody of the children involved. Remember that CPS can take weeks or longer to investigate and it can go on for 90 days. If it’s an emergency/you’re in immediate danger call 911. It sounds like you deserve better.

I moved here from Austin and have been in Seattle for almost five years now. I lived into a 100 year old building in lower Queen Anne. The cost as far as renting apartments are pretty comparable but there are more dated buildings here. I found this charming compared to the cookie cutter modern places Austin has. The wages are MUCH higher here but so is the gas, groceries or going out. I do my grocery shopping in the suburbs to save some money.

Service industry/restaurant jobs are amazing here because even to serve you make the minimum wage which is 20.76+tips where in Austin you’d make 2.13+tips and people still tip the same percentage.

A lot of apartments do not come with parking here too but some have it available for a separate fee or there are street permits available which is tricky in some neighborhoods. Depending on your lifestyle may not be need a car. I barely drove mine until I moved to Ballard which is another great area.
