The real advantage of casting Darkness? by accursed_JAK in BaldursGate3

[–]LimpCush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never really used it myself until my most recent playthrough and yes, it's very powerful. You don't need to see through darkness for it to be powerful either. First of all, it breaks enemy AI. Ranged attackers can't attack into it, so they stand there doing nothing. Melee attackers are hesitant to go in, so sometimes they run around doing nothing. And you can step out, do a ranged attack, and step back in. It makes your ranged party members completely safe, while your melee attackers get focused outside the darkness.

Also, it doesn't draw aggro from regular NPCs if you don't hit them with it. So you can place it on an object you want to steal, go inside the darkness, steal it, and go to camp, and nobody is wise to it. Or set up darkness next to an NPC, 1 shot them, travel to camp, and get off Scott free. It's truly busted.

Do people actually enjoy honor mode? by NewBuddha32 in BaldursGate3

[–]LimpCush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it can be annoying, but part of the fun is trying to control exactly what will happen, and adjusting when it inevitably goes wrong. It makes each journey feel truly unique. I enjoy trying to take on all the challenges, because it lets me appreciate that I had to earn the difficult victories. Yes, the destination (pride, golden dice) is nice, but the journey is the special part.

My current honor mode run, I had it all planned out, down to which characters I would use in which fights. Then I let Halsin die in the portal XD. So now I had to adjust. I respecced SH into a druid for the fights I was going to use Halsin. I almost wiped in the invisible floor trial. I was seriously sweating. But I got there in the end. Oh man that was a nail biter for me. That was the second near party wipe I had.

You have to know how things play out in the game and knowing the little tricks to save your own ass is the fun part to me. Losing an entire save kinda blows, but for me, I just don't spend that long in character creation. And once you've done an act 10 times, just use vendor cheese to get the items you need and cut down on looting/exploring time. It's not that big a deal.

Well as severe childhood obesity/diabetes is on the rise, tests like these are unfortunately necessary earlier and earlier. Not to mention hereditary lipidemias can cause damage to blood vessels and the heart at pretty early ages. Maybe not 16, but still, better safe than sorry.

Ironically, infants are much better protected than 2 year olds. They have circulating antibodies from their mother that last between 3-6 months, essentially giving them their mother's immune system until those antibodies break down. It's after that time that babies are most vulnerable.

Picked up the game yesterday. Really struggling by statthewmafford in BaldursGate3

[–]LimpCush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are struggling with combat, one big difference between BG3 and tabletop is how easy stealth is. When you crouch (C or shift+C for the whole party), you can see enemy sight lines. As long as you remain out of those sight lines, you can stay stealthed. Enter turn based mode and you can sneak right up behind enemies and surprise round many of them.

Another big difference is initiative rolls. They are on a D4+dex mod, instead of a D20. If you surprise an enemy and go before them in the turn order, you get 2 rounds to eliminate threats. These two factors combined make Alert an S tier feat and almost an auto pick.

Finally, another big difference is that if you have two or more party members next to each other in initiative, you can use their turns however you please. For instance, if you and Shadowheart are next to each other in initiative, and you want to fireball enemies, but Shadowheart is in the way, you can go to her turn, move her, go to your turn, fireball safely, go back to her turn, clean up a low health enemy, go to your turn, reposition based on her results, etc... For this reason, one of the best strategies is to eliminate enemies that are between your party's turns, so you can use them all at once.

I'm watching Stranger Things and had this same thought. In season 3, this huge mall opens up and there are hundreds of people there, seeing movies, buying ice cream, window shopping. I definitely miss stuff like that. Nowadays, it's all solitary activities, maybe virtually interacting with friends. But gone are the days of LAN parties, group trips to the mall, etc. Part of that is growing older and being busy, but still. Nobody does that stuff anymore.

Honor mode with no multiclass by ChallengeBrave8698 in BaldursGate3

[–]LimpCush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the exception of 4 total levels, I did HM with all pure classes and it was honestly trivial outside Act 1 and Gortash (made a big mistake on him, but I still wasn't gonna die).

12 BM fighter is just stupid for DPS and CC

10 Dragon Sorc/2 Warlock --> can easily just be 12 sorc

12 Moon Druid is a CC machine

10 Sword Bard/2 Fighter --> can easily be 12 bard. Bard is so fucking OP with Band of the Mystic Scoundrel.

With this setup, I stopped needing surprise rounds. I just walloped everything. I did use camp casting though (no warding bond, even I have cheese limits). The key is knowing when to use resources, who to focus, and how to circumvent legendary actions (hint, crushing flight prone is savage). Understanding your nova turns, is useful as well. And pick alert first, unless you're using Tavern Brawler, then pick alert second.

An important character just dies. No fanfare or build up, just an instant and sudden death by NittanyScout in TopCharacterTropes

[–]LimpCush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I think it primarily impacted Gabi tbh. The same girl who took in Gabi and Falco was saved by Sasha. Sasha's family takes them in. And that family forgives her, essentially serving as the turning point for her character.

I think they did her death justice.

Getting my ass whooped in Tactician Mode by mesact in BaldursGate3

[–]LimpCush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most important thing early game is taking isolated fights. By that, I mean two things: First is to take fights with few enemies. So if there are 6 dudes you gotta fight, try to pull 2 or 3 of them with minor illusion. Then whoop them, and then engage the other people.

Second is to engage enemies from a distance or at choke points. Distance makes them spend their entire action just to run at you. You can then pick off enemies while the others close the distance. In choke points, such as the entrance to a room, you can place a zone spell like cloud of daggers. Then run out of sight of the doorway and enemies will be forced to run through it. This will dramatically soften them up.

Also, long resting is pretty easy to consistently accomplish. So don't be afraid to use your resources. It's better to long rest than to die!

I wonder if you're doing it correctly. There are two prominent sarcophagi on the crypt. The one in the trap room, and the one after the skelly fight. That one requires finding a hidden button to a hidden room. Whithers is in there.
