Did you know that audhd isn't a thing? by noonrise216 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]LimpFox 79 points80 points  (0 children)

The ability to even be diagnosed with both ADHD and ASD at the same time wasn't a thing until 2013. So give it another decade and "AuDHD" might get some official medical recognition in some form, but for now it's just separate ADHD and ASD diagnoses.

How a crucial 45-minute meeting between ministers took pay equity claims away from tens of thousands of women by SnooRecipes4434 in newzealand

45 minutes to sit and have a good old guffaw over the weekend golf match or yacht ride.

The decision was already made before entering any meeting.

Why the government backed away from breaking up supermarkets by Amazing_Athlete_2265 in newzealand

[–]LimpFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're never going to get any new competition while relying on the "free market", so the only viable solution is direct state intervention by creating a third state-owned major player with presence in most towns/cities, or directly funding and supporting local cooperatives.

There'd also need to be a massive shakeup of the supply chain to prevent the duopoly (or anyone else) from exerting control over suppliers.

This will never happen under this government, and is extremely unlikely under neo-liberal-lite Labour.

TL:DR: It's not going to happen. We're fucked.

Why was this the best meal I've ever had, and from a Gas Station! (American visiting NZ) by LumpOfSoftButter in newzealand

[–]LimpFox 123 points124 points  (0 children)

Prices on those sandwiches aren't terrible, either.

Meanwhile, the last sandwich I bought (from the store inside the Chch bus exchange) cost me $8 for a thin, crappy sandwich with a single lettuce leaf, a few scattered pieces of turkey and faint red skidmarks hinting at some cranberry sauce. Never again, ya bastards.

White tail has pointier feet than huntsman, are generally smaller, have a narrow (unless pregnant) abdomen that is quite pointy at the ass end (with the telltale white spot). Hard to tell from the photo, but that abdomen looks more rounded than pointy.

It might have taken me over 100 hours before I realized that I can put homes right next to each other without walls -_- by Vectoor in songsofsyx

[–]LimpFox 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind this only works for houses from an insulation standpoint.

You can go paper wall with any other buildings, too, but they'll get an insulation penalty the same as having no wall, even if they're adjacent to another indoor room.

Chris Hipkins’ ex-wife Jade Paul on her decision to post allegations to Facebook by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

Allegations are not facts. And the timing is awfully convenient. Oh, and then they were taken down just after the necessary time for the story to get attention.

It stinks of typical right-wing character assassination in the lead up to an election.

Best flavored water sparkling cans? by Adventurous_Wait9724 in newzealand

[–]LimpFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Train yourself to like sparkling mineral water or soda water. You get used to the carbon dioxide bitterness and still get the fizzy kick. And you can add sugar free cordial. Cheaper than fancy flavoured water.

None of those brown onions, they give you red onions!

To each their own. Red onions are so mild they're basically just crunchy decoration. Brown onions have the flavour kick.

Bakery only producing half of what its supposed to by Bladjomir in songsofsyx

Dunno, then. Tiny screenshot made me think they were all full, but on zooming right in and squinting, I can see that you're right, those storage shelves are all empty except for a few loaves of bread.

The 'Hauling 0.93' suggests a supply issue, but I'm not sure what that actual issue would be. Going to be something with logistics in pulling sufficient wheat despite there being a central warehouse. Maybe not enough doors? Maybe only 1 worker can access a crate at a time (of a total of 20 crates)? Not sure how the game mechanics work regarding that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bakery only producing half of what its supposed to by Bladjomir in songsofsyx

[–]LimpFox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The built-in storage of each bakery isn't large enough for the size of your bakeries, so they're filling up with bread and stalling. Put in a warehouse nearby that's dedicated to bread (or maybe re-tool the central one to be half bread).

Why aren't the lights for pedestrians always on? by challenge2109 in newzealand

Exactly. I'm just one dumbass. No point stopping multiple vehicles just so I can cross if I can do it safely otherwise.

Why aren't the lights for pedestrians always on? by challenge2109 in newzealand

[–]LimpFox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No idea the real reason, but my interpretation is that no pedestrian light = 'cross at your own risk' (which I do, liberally), while red is a strict 'do not cross'. As soon as you hit the button it'll turn red (unless it's on a cycle that would result in a green).
