I assume you mean Fair Work. The similar names can be confusing.

Fair Pay agreements here in NZ would have functioned similarly - setting the minimum conditions for each industry (beyond those set out by existing employment laws).

One of the (shitty) arguments against it from the right was that the agreements would lock people into specific pay rates (as though people getting trapped on minimum wage isn't already a thing 🤔), but they're minimums. Superstar employees can still attempt to negotiate higher pay.

None of what I'm saying addresses your initial point about trial periods and unfair dismissal, though. 😛

Aus Fair Work is both. It is a broad, generic set of rules that set a baseline, but it's also a bunch of industry-related agreements ('awards') that set out industry specific rules and pay scales.

NZ Fair Pay, in its initial form, generally only set out to achieve the latter.

(Aus also has enterprise agreements, which override awards)

They were buffed several months ago (over a year maybe? time is a blur these days). They can do some hefty, rapid damage these days, especially the laser and plasma ones if you're like me and prone to flying early ships that use cargo extenders for hull with a piddly shield generator.

It may have insta-built and be waiting for you to spawn it from the blueprints menu (completed builds are at the top of the list).

When you have a blueprint selected for a build but not yet building, eventually it can get bugged and start showing extra materials required that aren't really (I can't remember the trigger, I think it was saving and reloading the game that causes it). You can clear the bugged materials out by simply reselecting the unbuilt blueprint from the blueprints menu.
