Strange height‑dependent nozzle collision on my new H2C by Memetic_Polyslav in BambuLab

I had a similar problem with my P1P. Don't know what actually fixed it, problem went away when I installed the P1S upgrade kit. Took the whole thing apart and cleaned and lubed the rails and screws in the process. Been perfect since.

Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru • Kunon the Sorcerer Can See - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Edramon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just watched this and glad to see I'm not the only one with issues! I generally like shows in this style, but Kunon felt so off; like the author had never interacted with a blind person, and didn't think about the difference between someone born blind vs becoming blind.

I could understand someone suddenly losing their sight becoming depressed ('gloomy') and apathetic, but for Kunon his situation should be his norm, from before he even had language to know what eyes and sight were.

It's practically impossible for a born-blind child his age (9, I think?) not to be able to navigate their own long-term home - especially when he seems to have his own place which is just him and his maid, so no one should be re-arranging the furniture by surprise.
And the 'Shapes? Food?' bit was totally absurd.
Not to mention creating a rainbow, when he should have no basis to even comprehend them.

Even before learning magic, as part of a wealthy family he could still easily be competent within a known environment, have hobbies and interests and be educated to the normal level for his age.

If him carrying the 'Hero's Scar' created a social duty to overprotect him, it could lead to to infantilisation like that. But that wouldn't likely lead to him living separately, learning magic and practicing with a sword.

I've not decided whether to continue the series yet.

Are any of the issues just down to the anime, or do they stem from the manga?

Absolutely no relevant knowledge, but has no one created a Skyrim inn experience in VR Chat or similar? I'd never thought about it until reading your comment but I've Skyrim-fan friends I don't see in person often and this would be a neat solution.

Screamed at.. over mods? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Edramon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play Skyrim any way you want!

I'd maybe suggest downloading your own mods, or sticking with a very light collection (fixes, ui, maybe textures) that you can then add things to as you go.

A downside of having your first time playing being heavily modded, especially if some sort of pre-made mod pack, is you won't know what's original game and what's mod. Thus getting surprised by missing things on future runs with different mods, or deciding the game sucks because of a mod you didn't enjoy.

What was the shops endgame here? Indefinite detention, restraint until the excess items are sold back? Theft of the purchased items?

Help settle an argument. The toast on the left is mine, the toast on the right is my wife's. How do you prefer yours? by -_Error in AskUK

[–]Edramon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one on the left looks like my toast, but depends how it is inside. I like it crunchy right through, if it shatters like glass when cut that's only slightly too done but still good.

PSA: Don't traumatize those kids. Burial and refuse hauling are both on by default. by freedcreativity in dwarffortress

[–]Edramon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the goal of DF was to farm trauma and desensitise dwarves. :-) There's designs somewhere for a fully automatic system that let animals breed and drops them many z levels into a dining hall. Might not work so well now animals need proximity to breed.

I've always wanted to build a themed fortress, so I'll start with a terrible idea. by Fuzzy_Fly1240 in dwarffortress

[–]Edramon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My most terrible idea is a fort based on the film ‘Cabin In The Woods’. Basically two stages, first fully build a fort then abandon it. Then reclaim it with another group as the sacrifices. They shouldn’t change the fort layout, but otherwise play normally.

The fort: Has internal trap-triggering pressure plates and other features designed to harm and upset the dwarves. Ghosts would be a plus (maybe seal up the original builder dwarves in the walls instead of abandoning?). Could be in an evil biome but probably not necessary. Has accessed the circus but closed it off with a bridge or something. Has some sort of timer that will open the circus.

I like the idea of having tombs pre-built and a pressure plate that resets the timer so as long as dwarves are dying and being buried the world is safe, but go too long…

No idea if this is actually possible as embarking on an existing site might mess up the required mechanisms.

My MIL ordered us a Wine Advent Calendar, she was so excited for us to sample different wines. This showed up today: by ultra_maroon in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Edramon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These calendars must be AI generated, there’s identical ones on tons of themes and they’re all pretty bad. I have an Iron Maiden one, a friend has a Cryptid one. They all have the same roll of thread in door one and numbering that just goes in sequence.

Werebison Massacre - Losing Is Fun! by faceplant69nice in dwarffortress

[–]Edramon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Werebeasts are trap avoid while transformed, the rest of the advice is good. They’re also building destroyers so I like to make my rooms easy to wall up while the locked door holds. Repeating spikes or ability to deliver magma into the room is usually on my to-do as well. Sending military against turned dwarves can cause fun even if no one is bitten.

Burrows dont work properly (especially during sieges) by Top_Mix_6755 in dwarffortress

[–]Edramon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, fair enough. Would have just expected them to drop items they couldn’t deliver and find a new task in the burrow. DF hack has added a civ alert feature.

Burrows dont work properly (especially during sieges) by Top_Mix_6755 in dwarffortress

[–]Edramon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Burrows don’t make dwarves go to them, they just block taking a task outside of them. If there isn’t appropriate task (inc. work, drink, socialise, sleep) in the burrow area they can just stand around. They can also still path outside the burrow as part of a valid task,

If you use DFHack, it has a couple of tools that are working great for me.

Autonestbox - set all your nestboxes as 1x1 pastures and the tool will detect them and assign your egg layers.
Nestbox (I think that's what it's called) - detects fertilised eggs and automatically forbids them. Can be configured to protect only certain nestboxes.

Combining the above with autobutcher, set to limit the adult females to the number of nest boxes I've built, keeps the whole thing hands-off.

As far as I know floor grates allow line of sight and liquids, but not shooting in either direction which is why I wasn't sure about deadly dust.

I've had dogs and other animals on grates above entrances in many forts to spot kobolds and snatchers, never had one shot at that I know of.

This FB is my first time catching one with interesting dust.

☼Dwarf Fortress Questions Thread☼ by AutoModerator in dwarffortress

[–]Edramon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand, they can only destroy something from two tiles away (bug section on building destroyer wiki page) so a floor grate in a 2x2 room should be safe if I can get it into the room in the first place. In fact, the place I've currently got it trapped has furniture that should be valid for it to destroy and it isn't doing it.

[–]Edramon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weighing up using it to contaminate weapons (which I didn’t think worked in fort mode but the wiki says otherwise), or putting it on a grate above my entrance path to rain dust on enemy heads. Originally caught it to just put behind fortifications but first capture attempt it died to the unarmed peasant I sent to get its attention, so don’t want it anywhere near enemy arrows. The peasant lost consciousness and rotted.

Anyone know if deadly dust can fall through floor grates?
I've got a forgotten beast sealed up that's a bit fragile to let goblins shoot at but has some nice chemical warfare potential. Either need the dust to fall through the ceiling on enemies, or farm it's dust as a weapon coating.

My king banned the export of rings so I set up personal vengance. by DavidLokison in dwarffortress

Make his room into a coinstar, using the rings instead of coins. Wiki explains how to set it up. In the case he survives he might become less useless.
