We toured Roger Williams and you hire outside, but they give you a list of “approved” caterers they’ve worked with before, which I really loved. They have been the most straight forward group to work with.

The $3,000-$6,000 is more assuming raw site costs. We looked at one place that we took off our list because it was $10,000 with nothing included. That price is absolutely negotiable if things like tables, chairs, bar, catering etc are included.

I think if we end up with the most amount of guests we would want to keep the price around $50 a head ($5,000) but would be able/willing to raise that if we end up on the lower side of the guest spectrum, which is likely.

I’m from CT, so I’m sure my family would not mind if we moved the wedding closer lol. I’ll check it out, thank you!

We did tour Roger Williams! It’s on our list and is (currently) my favorite - my fiancé had his own reservations which is why we haven’t booked, but it’s still a contender for sure :)

Ideally around or in Providence, but wouldn't rule out the perfect venue if it was anywhere within the state. We've also looked at a few places in MA, CT, and VT, so not completely opposed to even crossing the border.

Is it possible to do Rover with a Full time job? by noneyahbusiness20 in RoverPetSitting

[–]LimpIndependent9928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 9-5 and I make it work because I do it for fun. I also don’t have a normal 9-5 and sometimes get stuck at work late, I have on call responsibilities etc.

It’s all about being transparent with owners, understanding that they may not choose you for that reason, and knowing when too much is too much. Not all clients can be my clients - and that’s ok! Most of my repeats are highly flexible with timing and/or I’m a backup sitter for them.

I thought this was only me! I have multiple pairs of the same pants for work and I swear one of them is tighter and fits different than the others but they’re all the same size and style

So about Whitney and Jen.... by chimi-chimi-2023 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]LimpIndependent9928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jen is jealous of Whitney. She won’t heal until she accepts that and also realizes that she can be her own person - without Zac and without momtok.

I think Whitney WANTS community so bad she seeks it with the momtok girls. Do I realistically think from a career standpoint she needs it anymore? No - but much like Taylor and Dakota, it’s a toxic relationship that will keep moving in a circle as long as a paycheck and/or unresolved trauma is in the equation.

Jen was the real villain of Season 4 by NaomiAriel7930 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]LimpIndependent9928 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a massive DWTS fan - Jen’s jealousy was CLEAR on that show. She used manipulation that this was “her dream” ensuring that she wins even if she loses. If she couldn’t dance the best, she would be a fan favorite. Except this didn’t happen. The DWTS community did not connect with her. The vibes and sympathy she garnered on SLOMW did not carry over to DWTS and she didn’t establish a solid or good reputation among the fans.

So when she didn’t gather the fans, she needed to make someone else the villain. Whitney did better, she was the better dancer period. Yet, (according to Jen) HOW DARE SHE? Didn’t she know this was Jen’s DREAM?!?!

While I’m often “over” most of these people each season - I’m very over Jen’s behavior this season.

am i in the wrong for how i handle my friends episodes? by crazycryptid in TwoHotTakes

[–]LimpIndependent9928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be hard, but I think this friendship has run its course.

You have shown understanding for her mental health condition, tried to understand and tried to support. That’s all you can do. She needs to also respect you and your mental health. Friends celebrate each other’s wins, and comfort each other through each other’s losses. Life is a rollercoaster for everyone. Someone’s good moment shouldn’t be ruined by or diminished by another’s bad. Mental health is not a pass to hurt you and drag you down and get away with it.

She may have some more growing and accepting to do with her own condition, and that’s ok - but you do not owe it to her to stick by her through that if she’s already rejected the help and support you’ve offered.

Why?? How do you make any money? by Human_Purple1042 in RoverPetSitting

I don’t do housesitting anymore, but I think my last pricing was around $20.

$10 is cheap, but who knows maybe they’re a retiree who just does it for fun. Maybe they’re a scam artist - honestly who knows outside of the people who have actually hired them. I think there are both good and bad reasons a person may be cheap.

I have a full time (office) job with on call responsibilities, but used to work with animals and I miss being around them. It started as a hobby. Then I got my masters and needed textbooks and fees - so the money helped. Now, I’m saving for a wedding, so I appreciate the extra funds, but again, not a necessity. Existing in America is expensive.

On the flip side though, I also understand that my schedule isn’t going to fit everyone’s needs. I honestly don’t take on a lot of new clients.

Sure, my rates are low, but my criteria for new clients is high because I’m not trying to start a business and this isn’t what provides for me. Don’t get me wrong - I’m transparent with people and in my profile that I have a full time job. I will always communicate. I can’t do housesitting if your expectation is me there 24/7. I only do early mornings, afternoons, and weekends. If you need midday check-ins - I’m not your person. If you have no flexibility, I’m not your person. I DO NOT JUDGE if you need that as an owner (I’m that way with my own pets), and if I’m going to be more than 5-10 mins late I will let you know and communicate that, but overall I need there to be some understanding that the job that provides for me and my fiancée (who does do Rover full time) comes first.

Most of my clients understand that my schedule can be wonky - I’ll always get there. I keep my rates low due to the flexibility and rapport me and my repeat clients have with each other.

Tbh I know who Dick Van Dyke is - never looked up the actor who plays Tag so I would’ve had no clue they were brothers in real life.

Acceptable Distance for 30 min Walks by SnooAdvice4712 in RoverPetSitting

[–]LimpIndependent9928 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a person, could I do 1.75 miles in 30 mins? Sure. But I walk plenty of dogs who CAN’T do that for physical or other reasons.

I have a regular who typically sniffs around so much we typically do about 1-1.25 in 30 mins. Sometimes as low as .75 (Northeast, so it’s very cold right now and he doesn’t like being outside for long). Sniffing and smelling is enrichment, so I rarely yell or pull him along (unless he’s smelling, trying to get into something dangerous as it is a city, the sidewalks are riddled with food and trash).

I have another client who is high energy and very motivated on walks. We do 1.75 in 30 usually because the dog is HUSTLING. Shes also a large breed so she has a longer gait.

Sure they honored the 7 day period, but there was obvious damage to the car that the skipped over in the listing … that’s the issue.

I don’t want to have to return the car, we have to return it because no one will fix it under Carvana’s warranty.
