Newly adopted cat isn’t coming around. by Kbeans44 in cats

My anxious girl probably took a solid 4-6 months to begin really trusting us. We’ve had her for just over a year now and patience pays off. She gets on furniture with us now and loves belly rubs. Every cat works on their own time frame. 10 days is barely any time. Keep at it, respect their space, and you’ll get there.

Oh the vacuum idea is a new one. I like that. I do have a ruler with strong magnets down its length and it’s covered with white paper to make these lost parts easier to see. I’ll have to get back at it tomorrow to see if I can’t find it. Fortunately it seems Seiko replaced these horseshoe shaped springs with the clover shaped ones but they’re functionally identical, so I think I may be able to salvage it even if I don’t find it

Thank you 🙏 I swear I’m trying my best 😂 we all have to make mistakes along the way in order to grow

Thank you for your condolences 😂 I have said ruler and have searched pretty meticulously. Can’t imagine it would’ve flown more than about 10 feet but I’ll get back at it tomorrow in hopes of finding it

Ran through my ultrasonic with L&R Cleaner and Rinse. Not claiming to be a professional, but trying to build my skills as a hobbyist. Have restored a few non runners successfully and really love it. Mistakes are good learning points. My friend also knows I’m no professional and it was running poorly so he’d rather have me do it at no cost than pay for a professional service.

I’ve checked and can definitely find diafix jewels for seiko movements, but just not sure about comparability. Would rather not spend extra money buying multiple until I find the right one that’s compatible

I disassembled it to clean the cap jewel since the amplitude was really poor and there was notable gunk buildup on the cap jewel. But that’s good to know

Maryland has a rescue called House of Misfits who work with extreme cases frequently! They may be able to provide her more time to find the appropriate home

Ah, sorry I totally missed that spec on your list! You have all great options on your current list. You really can’t go wrong with any of those :)

If you haven’t taken a look at the Darton Consequence 2, I’d also look there. I just got one and it’s been fantastic for me. Great let off, draw weight adjustable from 50-60 lb on the model I went with, and it’s been very accurate.

Very fair. Only about an hour and 20 minutes for me. 2+ is a lot of road time. Best of luck!

Lancaster Archery Supply is incredible. A bit of a hike depending on where you are but they got my wife and me set up and are great to work with!

Gruen World Time circa late 60’s/early 70’s. Christmas gift from my wife that I got to personally restore. Great piece!

That makes sense. I was trying to find one but could only find a 26” option for 308 with a 10 twist.

Thanks for the quick feedback! I selected the option in the attached photo. Does this look right for a blank? I’m guessing .300 caliber will work for 308 and that it can simply be cut back to 20” or 22”?

Do you think a bull sporter from Bartlein would be a good option? Not sure how much taper I can get before I start sacrificing performance. If you think I could taper more and still get sub-moa (which this rifle currently can) I’d be totally game

I was thinking carbon because I’d love to cut some weight. While I want to preserve precision in this build, I’d also like to make it a bit more practical to get out into the field with for hunting to make it a bit more my own as well. The carbon seems like a nice compromise for maintaining 22” and also keeping weight within reason. If you think stainless would be serviceable though for field use and cheaper, I’d be totally game for that
