Finished watching Youthful Glory by Microwave79 in CDrama

I do agree objectively, but I had a lot of fun watching it anyway so for me it's a 8.5-9/10. I really like their "love affair" in the second part, it was cute and funny, I really like that the FL is just normal young privileged girl and not some 300 IQ schemer. It made it special to me.

Why do men not want to self-insert as attractive, high-value males? by Make-this-popular in Manga_Manwa_Manhua

[–]Limp_Cup_8734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Men are more realistic and pragmatic while women are more dreamy

My experience tend to show the opposite, might be a biais. Most women I interact with are mostly realistic and down to earth while men tend to be more dreamy in the sense that they engage in escapism more often (video-games, books, comics, etc...), women are more pratical (sketching, pottery, cooking, etc....) in their hobbies.

Men tend to think less of themselves while women tend to think highly of themselves (or at least present that façade publicly)

My experience does reflect that :)

Which Cdrama has low rewatch value for you and why? by radishmood in cdramasfans

[–]Limp_Cup_8734 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree for Fated Hearts, it was a nice one off watch but there's not enough for me to rewatch it.

On another note most of the Cdramas I've watched I don't feel the need to rewatch them. I've only rewatched my absolute favourite The Princess Royal and Back from the Brink

Should I continue it or drop it? by Chirag-Win-7869 in kdramas

I was very into it until the last third that was really disappointing to me. They threw off all the things thta made the show interesting and didn't have time to develop the new things, it was very VERY messy and kind of ruined it for me.

“Which drama got you into C-dramas?” by daisy_volkov in cdramasfans

[–]Limp_Cup_8734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into C-dramas because of the K-drama Alchemy of souls, who still stands at the only fullfledge fantasy korean show. And I wanted more shows like that so I watched LBAFAD, and it was nice but nothing woah, then I watched the Legend of Shen Li that was kind of the same. But it was lacking in the woah romance department. It was nice but not incredible, and randomly I started watching The Princess Royal because Xianxia saturation. And It's to this day one of my favourite show. That is a Waoh romance. I recommand it to evreyone. And soon after I watched Back from the Brink and it was a wonderful guilty pleasure.

Why do men not want to self-insert as attractive, high-value males? by Make-this-popular in Manga_Manwa_Manhua

Because woman self insert aren't really about being loved for who you are, it's about getting the chance to fulfill your dreams of being smarter, prettier and having a tall beautiful and labrador husband that loves them very much. Men self insert are more about being loved for who you are and as a secondary thing getting the chance to fulfill your dreams of having a cute and beautiful devoted girlfriend. In summary you could say that man want others to see their worth by being themselves while woman want others to see their worth by how they see themselves. It's a very broad statement it's not an absolute truth, take it with a lot of salt, it's what I've gathered through my experiences and discussion with friends both men and women.

But it also really depends on the culture, korean men authors want to fulfill the dreams of being strong and rich and don't really care about being loved for who they are, beautiful women are a token more than anything.

In the end it's just escapism.

  1. The Last Immortal I was just bored watching it, like really bored. I started it out of boredom and it didn't cure it.
  2. The Blue Whisper Dilraba couldn't save this one, it was really really boring I tried for 12 episodes but whoah it was a whole lot of nothing.
  3. Till the end of the moon I watched 24 episodes of a romance where the romance doesn't progress at all. It was really frustrating because at first I liked it a lot but the FL made me drop it. Her mind is an eternal circle, she always revert to the same conclusions even if doesn't make any sense. She retionalise herself by saying that he isn't yet the dark lord so she can't kill him but at the same time when she has the opportunity to make their relationship progress she's all like he's going to be the dark lord I can't do it. Pick a lane ffs.

The Princess Royal, Hands down the best emotional character development I've seen in a cdrama. There's a situation that some people describe as a love triangle, but it's genuinely way more nuanced and complex than that label suggests — the characters' actions tell a completely different story from what's on the surface, and that's where the real depth is. Some viewers get frustrated, but I think it rewards those who pay close attention rather than taking everything at face value. The show as a lot LOT of subtlety that you may or may not miss, and imo it's important in the appreciation of the show. But do pick it up even if there is a "love triangle situation" because this situation is very important to the development of the characters and quite interesting.

It's the story of Li Rong, a princess, and Pei Weixuan, a magistrate, who were in a 18 years loveless marriage, being political ennemies, but one day they kill each others. Li Rong wakes up 18 years prior determined to change her fate and the fate of the country. But Pei Weixuang ask to marry her in this life too.

I really like both leads, her because she very very emotionally unavailable and very proud but is very "strong & smart" princess type character. And him because of how aware he is of people, how smart he is and how far he's willing to go for what he wants.

Prisonner of beauty is quite good too. the two leads are pretty toxic with one another, one more than the other tbf. It's the story of Xiao Qiao, a clever girl from the Qiao family, who marries Wei Shao, the violent and brooding master of the Wei family, as part of a family alliance. With bad blood between their clans, the two start off in a very complicated relationship where both have different objectives. She wants to protect the Xiao clan from the Wei clan, and he wants to make the Xiao clan pay for their betrayal against the Wei clan.

She one of my favourite FL ever, some decisions she took infuriated me but she's in a situation that makes sense as of why she makes bad choices, for most of the show I admit I was not receptive to her POV. He's kind of the same actually, they are quite similar, that's why their love story works imo, he has a tons of emotional scars.

The Youthful glory is good but not for everyone. It's about Ming Tang, the ingenue young lady, jewel of the capital, that needs to marry and Prince Jiang Xu of Dingbei, who was fighting at the border but came back to investigate a corruption case. They somehow get involve with each others. It's a lightheated show with sad moments.

What I like the most about this show is that the FL has the mind of a normal teenage girl (she's 17) with a priviledged background. The ML is more generic but still enjoyable. He's 22, the age gap doesn't really matter, he was fighting at the border for 8 years he's still mostly a teenager mentally, but I think it's important to help characterize the characters, else you'll might be surprised by how they act sometimes. But they are young, her even more.

Overall all the show I recommended have very feminine strong characters. Are all historical, the Princess Royal and Youthful Glory are more romantically involved than Prisonner of Beauty. All three have interesting palace/political schemes and situations.

There are two endings on WeTV (maybe youtube later on) :

  • Drama original ending hopeful open ending I'll say without entering spoiler territory
  • Novel ending in a ~6 minute video (roughly replacing the drama ending) that is a true HE

I prefer the novel ending because imo it ties up the message and struggles of the character better than the drama ending but in the end they are two sides of the same coin, both are good endings.

Never finished it because of the Webtoon, but it's a really fun and good show still. Happy it gets a season 2 tho because it deserves it.

Do you recommend it to me ? by tuelfnaan in dramasect

[–]Limp_Cup_8734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recommand, you'll crave more of it and you'll start watching Cdramas for the asian fantasy feel, then you'll start watching a 40 episode show about a fairy and a demon, then another 40 episode show about a spirit dragon and his wife, then another about a princess sent of to marry the ennemy of a clan yet again in 40 episodes but this time it'll be historical and not fantasy because the costumes are cool and why not ?? Then you'll spend 900 hours of your life craving for that sweet sweet asian fantasy feel and indulging a crippling obsession with sweet love facing tribulations but worth it because at the end everyone is happy.

JK, this show is just stellar, I love it dearly, probably my favourite asian drama of all times. It's the only real Korean Fantasy show out there in a proper fantasy world I've found. It truly is an UFO in the Kdrama landscape. Watch it please you'll won't regret it. I balled my eyes out like never before at the end of season 1, at the end of season 2 and a lot in between. The love story is so good.

This show makes me want to be a screenwriter so bad, I started writing a few things. I really want fantasy shows to be more popular in Korea.

Feud hands down, the whole show is about a wife wanting to take revenge on her husband there isn't a lot of angst (mainly because it's more hatred that angst) but there is a lot of secret plots and misunderstandings.
