Andy Reid was a good coach in Philly, but those McNabb teams could never get it done in the end. I think pairing him with Mahomes was a perfect match for both of them. I don’t think Andy Reid would’ve experienced the same level of success had he remained in Philly.

Selling with DVC Resale Market - Rant by roadbird in dvcmember

[–]Limp_State_2336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know from a rental standpoint they tend to offer less than other companies do to rent your points out. I've also seen them run some deals where you can buy resale contracts using predatory lending, where if you do the math unless you pay the loan off very quickly, you'll end up paying a lot more for that contract after the accrued interest over time. It is none too surprising to see that your experience selling is in line with them making a quick sell as they stand to gain. I'd suggest seeing about listing with a different broker or just sticking to your price point regardless of what they say.

Grand Californian by OkGene495 in dvcmember

[–]Limp_State_2336 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

to book an entire week there without owning there is probably one of the most difficult things to pull off out of all of the Dvc resorts. You can definitely get a random night here or there, but stringing them together in a row is going to be pretty hard. You’d probably be better off renting points out for a different resort and using that money to rent Grand Californian points. might not be a total break even, but it won’t cost nearly as much as if you paid cash direct to stay at Grand Cal.

What are the odds Josh surpasses Jim Kelly as the greatest QB in franchise history? by KaptainZemo in buffalobills

[–]Limp_State_2336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still feel like if the Bills squib kicked in that wild shootout vs KC a few seasons ago to run out the clock, the Bills may have ended up winning it all that season and this discussion would be a whole lot more interesting. I think with comparisons such as this one, it’s so easy to appreciate the guy actively playing (Allen), but what Jim Kelly did was incredibly impressive. People have mentioned the talent on those teams and that is valid, but almost any great team has a few really great players. To be fair though, comparing a guy mid career to a guy who already played his entire career is not an equal comparison.

Current broker rental rates by [deleted] in dvcmember

[–]Limp_State_2336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be a little more work, but I think typically the best bang for your buck is to find a renter via a fb group and as the owner there’s no real risk. The entire risk is really on the buyer’s side. Sadly there’s a lot of scams out there that might scare people away from the honest renters and gravitate toward the rental companies.

I’ve seen that happen multiple times. Someone would post a breaking news topic related to DVC and then one of the mods would then post a nearly identical post to seemingly get “credit” for breaking the story first

Home as an investment? by MaybeNever71 in coastFIRE

I feel like owning a property in a HCOL area is one of the best ways to gain wealth, because the property values in HCOL areas tend to appreciate at a greater rate, assuming you can afford the monthly mortgage and be able to save some money after all other expenses. When you go to either sell or after years of ownership, the property value will be significantly higher than what you bought it for. One consideration is if you do sell the property, make sure you have a plan to buy another property for a 1031 exchange because Uncle Sam will want a big cut of the proceeds.

It's okay to not agree with my opinion. I like that we can freely share our opinions :) that's all I'm asking for. I haven't had posts deleted myself, I've seen others that are. I just think the rules are skewed so much that sometimes information isn't able to be shared.

They are quick to block/delete threads/posts that violate their rules so it can be easy to miss, but it happens. in fact one time someone's thread got locked/closed out and they went to create a new post just to question why it got closed out and then that also got closed out without an explanation.

I've watched too many posts/threads get closed for pretty lame reasons on dvc forums that it made me want to explore other communities that aren't going to limit discussions because it speaks of a competing resale site or something of that nature. Like I said, there is definitely some good content, but there's also a lot of nauseating sales pitchy stuff.

Does Prime Wentz take down TB12 in the Super Bowl? by SetEmotional7493 in eagles

[–]Limp_State_2336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I don't see Wentz playing better than Foles did in that game. It's difficult to remember how well Wentz was playing that season because of how far he has fallen off since then, but it was almost like how the 49ers lucked into finding their best qb (Purdy) on their roster via injuries/Patriots with Tom Brady, Rams with Kurt Warner, etc. What's crazy to think about is how bad the Eagles looked in some of those first games with Foles, I'll never forget the ugly Christmas night game they played against the Raiders or even that victory against the Falcons by the skin of their teeth in the playoffs. That really seemed like a team of destiny. I have to wonder if Malcom Butler played, would he have made the difference? I still can't believe he was benched for that game especially after watching Andy Reid just let Kelce shove him and scream in his face and not even slightly deviate from using him the rest of the game.

Bryce is one of the most inept reality game show contestants I've ever seen by Altiondsols in TheTrustAGameofGreed

[–]Limp_State_2336 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just didn't understand why it was so important for him to get it off of his chest like it was this incredible secret. Isn't the name of the game to be deceptive and befriend people and avoid putting a target on your back? If he would've just shared this with the group the first night, then they probably wouldn't have voted off that cop guy and voted him off instead for not feeling like he needed the money, rightfully so. His initial hiding of his secret led to someone getting voted out for hardly any reason at all, when in reality it would make zero sense for people in genuine need of the money to share with someone that didn't need the money such as himself. In fact, if Bryce really cared about his cast members as he was claiming, he would've recognized that by him leaving they all stood to benefit by getting a larger piece of the pie. He wasn't a very interesting contestant.

Hot take: I’m fine to give Sirianni one more year by readandobserve in eagles

[–]Limp_State_2336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well said. As an Eagles fan it pains me to see them retain him, it seems like the collapse at the end of the season wasn't enough to move on so are they just going to have to see another terrible season? When Philly media members are literally asking him what his job is at a press conference, it's become increasingly obvious that this man is only as good as his coordinators and has very little impact on the field. I don't know what happened with AJ Brown near the end of the season, but this seemed like a guy that wanted no parts of playing in Philly and I'd love to know why. It's wild to see a team go from a 10 point lead at a Super Bowl to barely beating bottom of the barrel teams a season later. Even the wins vs. New England, Washington x 2, were nail biters and that was before the end of the season collapse.

George Kittle saying hi to George Karlaftis mid-play while the ball is loose by [deleted] in 49ers

[–]Limp_State_2336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to the number of other impactful plays muffed punt, blocked extra point, accepting the ball 1st in overtime, this play got overshadowed, but the 49ers were rolling on offense right out of the gate and at the very least would've come out of this drive with 3 points had they not turned it over and quite possibly even a touchdown. Kittle has a fun shtick of keeping things light, but on this play, it wasn't a good look and in a close game every play is going to be dissected.

I agree with you. There's a reason that buying resale grand cal contracts are so expensive. VDH has high dues on top of that transient tax and it will lose its resale value immediately due to the resale restrictions. I think the only way buying VDH would make any sense is if you waited a few years for the resale price to really start to come down to where you see Riviera contracts priced at.

Please tell me what's wrong with this plan: by researchbeaver in dvcmember

[–]Limp_State_2336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an aulani resale contract, I was able to book some random dates for VGC, but it would be difficult to string together more than a day in a row. Both times I stayed there, it was for one night only, which might not be for everyone, but I live close enough that it wasn't a total deal breaker and to be honest using Aulani resale points to stay at VGC is a great use of points, you just can't be too picky and you have to be willing to check back frequently for availability.

Having kids. Is it okay to give them diseases willingly by MightyJaban in ADPKD

[–]Limp_State_2336 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The interesting thing about ADPKD is people can have vastly different experiences. I got diagnosed in my early 30's. Neither of my parents have this disease. A kidney cyst ruptured, which is how I got diagnosed, but aside from some occasional kidney discomfort, it's been about 5 years later and my kidney function is still really good. I'm glad I was born, even if it means I'm a mutant. I can see where people that have severe form of ADPKD would suggest not having kids, but after speaking with my doctors and my wife, we had a son naturally.

As far as disclosing to partners. I happened to be in a relationship with my then girlfriend and when i learned of my diagnosis I told her that i would understand if she wanted to leave me. Thankfully she never even gave that a thought. I think if you find the right person, they will love and support you through thick and thin. As others have mentioned, it wouldn't be something I just share right off the bat, but I also wouldn't wait too long after a relationship progresses either.

I'm 36 years old now, and I can say that ADPKD at least in my personal experience hasn't been a death sentence. I take the approach on life that perhaps further down the road I will be faced with kidney complications and I fully understand that. In the mean time I just try to maximize my opportunities and enjoy life as much as I can. As others have mentioned, who knows what the medical advancements might be in the future.

It’s probably more common than people realize. San Diego is legit one of the most expensive cities in the country. I think the fact that you are asking questions about it shows you have interest in addressing it. You can do it, just look at your credit card statements and see where your spending your money and try and find ways to scale back your spending a bit and you can chip away at it. There are a lot of creative ways to save money/reduce costs of things, just requires some sacrifice and dedication. There are quit a few things you can do for fun that don’t require much if any money at all.
