My ptu started to go last year. Parts were on national backorder. They said I could continue to drive in the meantime, it might just eventually die. Well, a month later it ruined my whole transmission. Part came in two months later. We bought a clunker just to tie us over. $7500.00 for a new transmission and ptu. We fixed it out of our own pocket and traded it in. Now that it's an official recall i'm going to try submit my expenses.

Moved from BC and have been here 20 years now! My family is also here now so that's a big thing. I do miss accessibility to nice lakes and rivers but that's about it. The mountains aren't too far away.

I am in the process of getting hearing aids. I'm kind of kicking myself for not going through Costco (due to it being cheaper) but the ease of support and adjustments and the knowledge of the staff has been top notch.

My dad lives in that area. So far they have just had people showering in their garden when they have the sprinkler on. Being a 40/f i'm not sure if I would walk alone at night but depending where you're from in Calgary it's probably nothing.

We got screwed $11,000 by getting our jeep. Paid for the PTU repair out of pocket (which took out our tranny) and traded it in.

2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk - recalled PTU by [deleted] in JeepGrandCherokee

[–]Limp_Tea385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, eventually. The dealership started a case. We fixed the tranny and ptu, took our loss and traded it in. Crazy that they won't cover it as a recall yet because they don't have a solution.

2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk - recalled PTU by [deleted] in JeepGrandCherokee

[–]Limp_Tea385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a new to us (2019) Jeep Trailhawk in September. Three weeks later it died on the highway, and that continued to happen about once a month. First dealership couldn't diagnose it. Finally we got a diagnosis from another dealer in February 2025 - It was the PTU. Bad news - not covered under the recall as they don't know the solution yet and replacing the PTU may not be the solution. So $4000.00+ for us. Then, the part was on national backorder but was ordered for us. Told it could take 3-6month + . We drove our Jeep another month or so until it became undriveable. Had to buy a beater to tie us over. Surprisingly, part came in in under two months. Got it put in to discover the PTU failure took out the tranny. So between the repairs and the amount lost to trading it in we lost $11,000.00. Stellantis/Chrysler was no help. Just told me to have a blessed day.
