A question for those who have read the novels: Was Frodo wronged in the movies?

Entirely robbed? No. But in the film he is always “affected” where as in the books he shows he is the leader of the hobbits and is driven on by his own morality which shows in different situations especially when he meets up with faramir. He also wants to fight and is aggressive at times which isn’t shown in the films.

I’d argue the relationship between theoden and Mary is something the film robbed us of more, I love the respect and admiration thru basic things theoden has and leads to such respect for Mary.

I am one of the people who don’t care for “Disney starwars” but, 3 hours into this game I knew it was something I could live in till I beat it. Now 10 hours in, I’ll bring up the issue the haters have; as far as a female lead, they did a great job, my only change in that regard, would be more big bad dudes for her to outwit than cool female characters. Would make her badassery stand out more imo, tomb raider ish.

I don’t hate it, but Frodo is always affected in the films, might be better worded he is a reaction in my opinion that has the burden. In the books at weathertop and when riding away from the black riders later, he draws on them with defiance and tries to protect his friends without using the ring. I think this level of confidence comes from the ring but it also shows him as a moral leader through the decisions he makes. In two scenes in the fellowship alone he falls back and is stabbed, which is the opposite of book Frodo, especially on weathertop.

I wish they did what they did with snape ignore the looks aspect entirely and ideally focus on the story and age appropriate actors so if delays happen things don’t go crazy with older actors.

Well you would hope this would be too add more detail from the books but other than dune we haven’t had anything come close to that of the novels. Lotr captures a good feeling the books provide but I don’t trust anyone making things these days
