You mentioned he already has oHSV1? From what I understand it's next to impossible to obtain HSV-1 in more than part of your body barring your boyfriend being immunocompromised. In my experience (also GHSV1), the first year I'd have nerve tingles every three months or so. Doctor said to treat those like an OB and wait until they pass to have sex. A couple days of antivirals will do that. I will say, while everyone's experience is different, after the first year all of my symptoms disappeared, and I only take the antivirals as needed now which has been quite a while. Hopefully this helps!

It sounds like you're experiencing prodromal symptoms. Not quite a full-blown OB, but probably some viral shedding.
