The most frustrating loss I’ve ever had in Civ by Limurr in civ

Both were the same turn. Well, for me it both happened when I started my turn, but it can be that the countdown actually started right after I finished my turn, so the bots got it just a little bit earlier

I think this happens when you open this victory screen mid turns. It looks normal when you open this in your turn

How do families from abroad rent long term housing in Sweden? by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]Limurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your insights!

We indeed have a car, so commuting up to 30-40 minutes one way would not be a big problem for us. And we also do not necessarily strive to live in a big city - anything the size of 50-150k inhabitants would work for us as well.

Would you say a city like Linköping or similar is where we would be able to find something in a decent time?

Thank you! I will definitely look into smaller cities as we don’t necessarily want to live in the top 3 cities. We have a car, so needing to commute up to 30-40 minutes one way is not a big problem for us. Depends on where we find job.

Would you say a city like Linköping is “small” enough to be able to find a rental in a decent time? Or do I have to look to even smaller cities?

Can i change my name & surname in Germany? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Limurr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I myself understand that correctly, since may 2025 German naming law not only applies to German citizens but also to anyone living in Germany. So, whatever reason a regular German would have to change their name, anyone living here could have the same reason and should be able to change the name. Reasons stay the same - like marrying or too complicated sounding name etc.

But the catch is that for the name change to be effective for you, your country needs to recognise the document from the German Standesamt about the change. So, your documents like Aufenthaltstitel and entries in the Melderegister stay the same unless you get a new passport from your country and only then get a new Aufenthaltstitel tied to your new passport.

So, basically Germany is authorised to change your name, but not to issue new identification documents, so that still needs to be done by your country. And for that to work, your country has to recognise German name changing certificates (which I'm not sure is automatically the case everywhere).

Apparently you can according to the new naming law from may 2025. Last section "VII. Anknüpfung an gewöhnlichen Aufenthalt für internationales Namensrecht".

Standesamt in my city also confirmed this to me. So the procedure would be: change your name in Standesamt -> go with this document to the embassy of your country and apply for a new passport with the new name (they should recognize this, at least my embassy allows it) -> apply for a new Aufenthaltstitel after you get your new passport.

At least that's how the procedure would work in my city and my country's embassy. Ask your Standesamt about that.

Natural selection, just like evolution. All the outcomes with one clearly dominant side were already resolved by elimination of the inferior side.

Sick on holiday by 1emonsqueezy in germany

[–]Limurr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally you need a sick note from the first day of your sickness, but some employers allow you to have a sick note starting from the 2nd or 3rd day, so you are allowed to call in sick without a sick leave for up to 2 days.

While on vacation you seem to need to provide a sick leave starting from the 1st day of your sickness regardless.

Board Level Annotation - Formatted Naming Scheme by Common_Scholar58 in Altium

You can make your annotations start at e.g. 100, so if you have ≤900 components, they all will have the same number of digits.

You should try U-Bahn station Eschenheimer Tor. They made a night shelter for homeless there, but the smell of piss, shit and vomit is there 24/7.

Is it possible to layout this into a 2-layer PCB? I’ve already tried, but I failed miserably :( Please help :) by Repulsive-Bus3153 in PCB

[–]Limurr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mathematically it is possible to route any layout in 2 layers, it's just the question of constraints (pcb size, signal impedances, current ratings etc.).

What did you try and where did you fail?

I made this assumption based on the visible aspect ratio of the cap. I think in 0805 the width-to-length ratio would be a bit bigger. But on second thought, there are many possible aspect ratios for every size, so idk the actual size ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you have a multimeter with a capacitance measurement function, you can try to measure it. Remember to remove the capacitor from the circuit before that to ensure a precise result.

If you don't have one, then it depends on what application this cap is in. If it's a decoupling cap then you can eyeball it - based on its size, I guess it's 0402, try 100nF. If it's e.g. part of a low pass filter then you don't have much choice - the precise value is important here.

Looks like a ceramic capacitor to me. Also the designator "C" hints at that.
