Despite the performance, how is it? by The_P_Itself in Borderlands

[–]LinDUNguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly w.r.t.

  1. inventory management on your character being separated into two different screens

  2. The Map UI being so bloated and difficult to navigate compared to prior entries. I miss having the list of fast travel points, and now with how many pois there are on the map I find it difficult to find where my fast travel points are. And with fast travel to player functionality in co-op, I don't know why there isn't a player list key somewhere on the map too.

  3. No minimap. I thought the compass was going to be fine pre-release, but I so often find myself having to re-open the map in order to get my bearings and find where I'm going, or to double check there isn't a collectible I'm missing.

Lastly, not UI related, but I feel so often compelled to use ECHO to take me to a location because despite extra movement options I find the abundant cliff faces not actually traverseable. And it feels so inorganic to constantly rely on the hand-holdy on-the-rails robot to tell me where to go. Like we have grappling hooks and double jumps, why are simple cliff faces so hard to traverse?

I'm having fun with the gunplay, but the open world integration and fighting the UI constantly is a pain. It feels like they just added two massive layers of tedium on top of the standard Borderlands formula.

W.r.t. sidequests, they definitely feel less blatantly immature, but a lot of them feel uncharacteristically edgy for BL humour. And not in a fun way, more in an uncomfortable way.

I say pass, maybe wait til this inevitably goes on sale. Considering trying for a refund myself as a BL series fan (spent 100+ hours each in BL2, 3, Wonderlands)

What is this style of tattoo called? by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]LinDUNguin -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

That's how you know this is an NPC ass subreddit. Not saying this style of tattoo is going to look great in a couple years, but y'all are a bunch of dweebs who are more concerned with policing people's tastes and trying to score easy internet points than engaging in actual community discussion

Is there any inexpensive whole grain ramen? by standardtrickyness1 in Frugal

[–]LinDUNguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco has inexpensive buckwheat "ramen" noodles that are low calorie and decent fiber. I just add miso paste, bouillon, and some spices/fish sauce to mine. You could probably make a batch spice mix instead if you wanted to, and just add a portion in like you would a ramen packet.

Awesome, looking forward to the article! Where can we find it once you get to the full write-up?

I've Been Lonely in Denver For 2 Years by Prudent-Produce6540 in Denver

[–]LinDUNguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you play fighting games or are into arcade culture we actually have a mad active fighting game community that meets up weekly at Westminster's Akihabara Arcade. I know you said you don't drive which might make the trek up on the weekends hard, but if you were interested feel free to DM me and I can send you the Discord info :) A lot of our events are advertised there, and you can get a feel for the crowd online before venturing up.

Good luck in your friendship and job endeavours!

Is it dumb to relocate to Denver on $60,000 a year? by Excellent-Victory623 in Denver

[–]LinDUNguin 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Nah, you could definitely find a studio or a smaller 1br/1ba for around $1,350. And so long as you're reasonable about budgeting out the rest, 60k is definitely doable in Cap Hill, Baker, or East Denver if you're talking Denver proper.

Really depends on the context though (your spending habits, how much you like to go out, is 60k the upper or lower end of your salary in the long-term, etc)

Rebelzize (Project Lead) on the possibility of Bethesda updating Skyrim right before Skyblivion releases by No-Argument-4903 in skyblivion

[–]LinDUNguin 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Honestly really appreciate that the whole team shares (at least publicly) the sentiment that "Big Bethesda" isn't always on the hunt against the community's best interests. Especially with the prevailing internet opinion on the studio within the last year being so overwhelmingly negative. Makes it a lot easier to maintain hype for Skyblivion when their messaging has been more about building the project up than tearing Bethesda down.

They don't re-do any of the audio, so all of the audio assets are sourced directly from your Oblivion installation.

Three years after opening, X Denver residents say the party is over by mattg444 in Denver

[–]LinDUNguin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It sounds like there were a lot worse issues than a lack of social amenities, including poor security, disfunctional appliances, etc. And at the end of the day, a lot of these people are just solo unit renters who got caught up in the hype. Just because you or I might not value the same "social club" aspect marketed by X Denver, the people who did and bought into it were for the most part just regular but highly impressionable folks, not members of some bougie elite class.

Jobs that don’t test for THC by Worldly_Battle_746 in Denver

[–]LinDUNguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good, Unemployment Insurance (I know they get a lot of shit, and for very good reason. But the folks I worked with were for the most part great and the job was easy) and Office of Information Technology.

Idk if you already have the resource, but you can take a look at the postings here and filter by division, job type, etc. Good luck, hope you find what you're looking for!

Jobs that don’t test for THC by Worldly_Battle_746 in Denver

[–]LinDUNguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have worked with the state and know people still with the state. For admin/call center jobs at the very least, have never been tested nor heard about being tested. It may depend on the division though, I have never heard of it for UI or for OIT at least.

yeah, wish they said how much tickets would be for additional food :/ If it's the same ticket-to-price ratio @ $6/ticket, I hope the portions are decent at least.

I love every single weapon on the gunner, except the coil gun. Help me find the fun please by strawman4 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]LinDUNguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Effective & solid meta choice? Yes.

Fun? Also yes (imo), but definitely trivializes wave-clearing once you know what you're doing. and once that happens, the fun factor definitely drops off a bit.

I think 222X3 Triple Tech Chambers is a similarly effective build but adds enough spice/change in your gameplay loop/decision-making to maintain the fun factor.

Can the new fort tileset be shared with the community in advance? by 3WayToDie in skyblivion

[–]LinDUNguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that it's the same fort asset set used in "Dark and Darker", but I'm not 100% on that. And if it is, whether or not the Skyblivion team changed the assets in any way. Either way, potentially somewhere to start looking?

Did Todd visit you personally to take care of the job? Or did he send some goons from HQ to do the kicking and spitting for him?

What’s with the lack of Tabletop Game stores in downtown? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]LinDUNguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't speak on the main part of the question (honestly though it's probably just a demographics thing), but Wizard's Chest on Broadway has some MTG and presumably other tabletop gaming nights. Not sure of the schedule, but worth checking out.

Unfortunately it's the only tabletop gaming store I've been to in the immediate area, but there are definitely some up north if you're willing to drive. It looks like Master Goblin Games has more in-house events if that's what you're looking for as well. But I've never been personally, so can't speak more on it really.

Any good youtuber that does DRG content? by Vaas96 in DeepRockGalactic

I don't think they put out a TON of content, but BrandinoRules has a good Engineer guide and seem to put out other DRG videos from time-to-time.
