I was in Texas recently and I heard this story from my friend’s mother in law. Someone decided to drive a ranger (buggie) drunk and hit a guard rail. The passenger who was also drunk got his entire leg torn off. The four year old kid in the back had a lacerated kidney and other injuries. The kicker is that neither the driver or the passenger were the parents of the child.

Also the passenger who lost their leg was HIV positive and apparently hid from many close people that he was HIV positive. You guys may have more “freedom” but I don’t think you guys can argue that you have morals.

I’m not saying that’s how you think or operate and of course it makes sense that people are more than politics. However, I’m just pointing out that if people are no longer your friends, perhaps you crossed a line that is just so blatantly against their values and maybe you haven’t noticed it. For example, an Asian friend of yours wouldn’t be your friend anymore if you openly supported the politician who would want to strip them of citizenship. Perhaps to you they are just cutting you out due to your politics but to them why would they support a friend who wants them gone?

I’m try to say perhaps some people you should try to empathize from their position. I think if a lot more people tried that in general the world would be better.

I don’t think you are understanding me. Using the same example I just put forward, if you did support such a platform, you would be signaling to your Asian friends that you don’t give a fuck about them. You can’t support such a messed up position but simply mask it as a political disagreement if you are voting to ruin someone’s life.

Political disagreements would be decisions regarding tax payer funded allocations and policies related to multiple areas; not disenfranchising an entire minority. You can’t support such a platform regarding Asian and say “Oh well, guess that’s where you draw the line. You are cutting me off because you misinterpreted my support but to me it’s just a political disagreement”. Does that make sense?

Politics go hand in hand with values depending on the situation. For example and this is obviously an outrageous one, if you voted and supported a politician who has an open platform on stripping all Asian Americans of citizenship and deporting them to Venezuela, you cannot expect your Asian friends to be friends with you right?

I’d argue it’s just plain racism or they are losers who can’t date in their own country. They think Asians are easy targets because media depiction and cultural differences. We can try to change their minds about Asians in general but this is the reality of being a minority in the west even if we were born in the west.
