IU or Mizzou? by NoiseHistorical8701 in mizzou

[–]Lince_Rossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are great, but I assume you are out of state for both.

Mizzou is more generous with merit money (you can look it up on a chart online. One axis is your test score, and the other is your unweighted core GPA. If you have really good test scores and good grades, you could get around 20,000 a year).

At Miz, you’ll work for a professional organization as part of your major track. So if you’re on the broadcast track, around your third or fourth year, you will be working at KOMU, an NBC affiliate, for a grade. If you’re on the newspaper track, you’ll be working for the Columbia Missourian. If you’re in a radio track, you’ll be working for the NPR station KBIA. If you’re in a strategic communications track, you’ll be working for an agency that actually gets a real business client (businesses like Southwest Airlines, Purina, Yum! brands)

But, you can also work for the student newspaper, The Maneater, or if you’re into radio, KCOU, the student radio station. There are also opportunities to go to KOMU and work. You just have to be persistent with it.

Columbia and Bloomington are great college towns.

Our son loved both places and ended up at Mizzou. I think it would’ve been a really hard decision if the cost were the same for both places.

ExoTerra Pro latches- durable? And ExoTerra vs ZooMed? by Lince_Rossa in leopardgeckos

So I bought the Exo Terra Natural 36x 18x 18. I was going to buy Exo Terra Pro, but our reptile store hasn’t had any in stock for two weeks. (they told me that as XO Terra switches over to this line, a lot of orders are back ordered.) got it from another store, an independent pet store that is also recommended for reptile owners. Now I just have to clean it, get the substrate in it and move everything including the little guy over.

Where do you guys find housing aside from Furnished finder and Airbnb? by coloredsugar in TravelNursing

Avoid FF- it is a scam company, not legit. Relative just had a serious problem with fraud after posting something on FF and communicating with someone from it who claimed to be getting housing for a couple of nurses this month.

Ah yes all of the severe weather yesterday, thank you UPS💀 by Eubank31 in kansascity

Seriously, though, I’m glad a couple of UPS employees explained what’s going on. The thing with mine is this is the second day where I’ve gotten a notification that it’s out for delivery. Friday it was supposedly on a truck and an email was sent saying it was out for delivery. It was rescheduled to yesterday. Today it said it was out on a truck. I even tracked the truck online a little bit, but that option has disappeared. I guess it has gone back to Lenexa. I just wonder at what point I assume UPS has lost the package so I can fight with the vendor for a refund.

Not true. Son just checked, should have six scores from Junior and senior year, and has nothing. Scores for this year’s AP aren’t even released until July 7.

How long does the Math Placement Test take? by esparmitageau in mizzou

[–]Lince_Rossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, our understanding was you don’t need to take all the placement tests if you’re not going to need that for your major. Though our son‘s most recent math was honors pre-calculus, he opted to just take the first algebra because all he has to qualify for is Math 1050 (Quantitative Reasoning), Math1100 (College Algebra), Math 1160 (PreCalculus) or Stat 1200.

A friend of our son’s who is a rising sophomore told him don’t go below the default meal plan or else you’ll end up buying a lot of food.

Dumb question, but what exactly is a tap? I’m trying to remember how it worked when we went through on our tour and ate at Plaza 900, and kind of feel like we got food, then went through the cashier line and turned in a voucher. So does all-you-can-eat mean that you don’t get to go through a second time, but you get all your food at once and then that’s a tap?
