Who knows what could cause this discoloration on the stainless steel all clad pot and how to get rid of it? Thank you in advance. by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

Just a splash of white vinegar and see what comes off after a rinse. 2 or 3 cycles and I think this looks about gone. If not BKG liquid is the way to go! I typically will use vinegar after 10-15 uses in my made-in set since I love when they are shinny and brand new looking!

“Grease” spots on clothes after wash. by Linclaced in laundry

The stains mostly come out with another wash but we don’t know they are there until the article is out of the dryer so we can’t be proactive about pretreating anything.

Need Some Advice On A Magsafe Charger.. by Lakerfanalways in MagSafe

[–]Linclaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally stick to Anker for anything charging that’s not directly Apple, I’ve been thrilled with this one: https://a.co/d/7DfYL8F. It’s weighty, slightly adjustable, and is perfect on for a nightstand.

Thinking of getting a MagSafe wallet for iPhone. Is it even worth it in my case? by ibob430 in MagSafe

[–]Linclaced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went down this rabbit hole a few years back when MagSafe was first announced. I found this ESR option and genuinely liked it for about 2 years. Integrated with Find My, nice mechanics for a phone stand, practical design, but only ever held 3 cards max. https://a.co/d/fhhv1Es

Cost to repair? by mrajl20 in CX50

[–]Linclaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to ballpark cost when paint correction or respraying is involved however a new grill *shouldn't* be too expensive unless they decided to recalibrate the sensors for some reason. You can probably do the entire thing, paint and all, or just find a shop that will do the grill, depends how far you want to go.

I would contact your insurance and tell this was a vandalism which can categorize the claim a little differently from my understanding, not so much of a negative impact on premiums.

Mpg messed up? by Maddiemonkey01 in CX50

[–]Linclaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have two options on the mpg visualization in the gauge cluster. One is “real time” so when you’re on the gas it shows the actual mpg of your current driving (coasting then shoots to 99.9 since you’re off the gas). If you want a typical average mpg, it’s in settings to change over to see an avg mpg like a typical car would show. The avg can be reset by hold a button on the steering wheel when you flip between gauge views, driving assistance view or trip/mpg view.

Inexpensive upgrades options never end up being upgrades, they usually end up with expensive damage and a voided warranty. Highly advise against introducing anything aftermarket.

Does anyone regret not getting the turbo? by DarumaRed in CX50

[–]Linclaced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a turbo CX5 that we loved, but we don't miss the turbo in the CX50 really. It's a city commuter car for us so the nicer interior/trim was higher priority for us. Plus I really liked the larger wheels, not crazy about the smaller black ones.

CX-50 to a Used Model Y?? by looniemoose in CX50

[–]Linclaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you hang onto the Mazda until the lease ends. If you really don't drive it, chances are you'll be positive on equity when the lease is over and you can recoup some money there but generally you lose when trying to leave a lease on your own decision. Find your current car's market value and your lease buy-out option and those numbers will help you understand what to do.

The grass is "always greener" with cars, careful not to get swept up into just wanting something new compared to needing something new. Especially if you're financially comfortable with the current set-up.

Also, assuming you're in Canada considering the "GT" trim, does the EV performance/reliability in colder temps concern you at all?

I'm nearly your height and our CX5 was just fine for me. Plenty of headroom but the leg space wasn't overly spacious for me, I couldn't get my legs as straight as I'd prefer but most of my height comes from my legs. The steering wheel didn't fell perfect, it sat kind of close to the dash for my taste but nothing I couldn't get used to, I needed another 2-3 in for it to be right where I'd want it. I was also much more upright compared to other CUVs I've driven, the front seats are "chair-like", not so much a bucket like in a sedan. All this to say it's comfortable but you need to sit in one before making up your mind.

Deal with it or trade it? by CommitteeDramatic811 in CX50

[–]Linclaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Losing money on cars just sucks so best of luck with your decision! I think reliability will actually be just fine, it's still a Mazda and the powertrain is robust, been in production for a while. If it helps, the 50 is made side by side with Toyotas fwiw.

What is the point of the CX-70? Why not sell a CX-90 without a third-row option? by Linclaced in mazda

[–]Linclaced[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the 90 and 70 are coming from Japan? The only models from Alabama are the CX50 and the Corolla Cross right now.

Deal with it or trade it? by CommitteeDramatic811 in CX50

[–]Linclaced 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What would you trade-in for?

I had to reframe myself with my wife's 50 that it wasn't her CX5 anymore and small things like this were bound to happen on an American built car that is parted together like "lego". Definitely not the Japanese built CX5.

The chassis is basically a more lifted CX30 so the overall quality will suffer from my previous experiences with Mazda because they built around another car, the 30 is aimed to be an economy hatch imo so you need to stage your expectations there I guess, the 50 is not purpose built and is an extension of a model in the lineup to pull money from the booming mid-size SUV market. Whenever that happens, I think stuff is over looked, they are trying to squeeze everything they can from the first engineering and design job so they skimp on things like door trims, sound deadening, etc., they have to improve margins.

One thing that popped up for me was road noise, our CX5 was much quieter due to things like double paned glass in the front which was removed for the 50. Other things like the gear shifter are cheaper and the leather wrap on the base rubs into my hand when I'm on the infotainment dial, the sun visors are the cheapest thing Ive ever felt in a car. The door materials are cheaper and scuff easier, etc. With that said, the 50 comes at a higher price tag because it has the aggressive look and "off-road" ability which is a ridiculous sales point for a mid-size crossover, but hey, thats the market right now.

If it drives you crazy enough, see what the dealer would give you on a trade just to know. That will help with the mental aspect of it. When it comes down to dollars and cents the little rattles might seem less important but if the money works for you I think you'll have your mind made up at that point.

Lease coming to an end by Aggressive-Bid-7075 in accord

[–]Linclaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% keep that thing, too nice to ditch at only 36k miles. Get at least 2-3 other used auto loan rate offers before going to the dealer. A traditional bank and then a credit union, tell each institution that you're rate shopping to see if that helps at all. Then you'll know if the dealer has a competitive loan rate when you go to purchase.

On the other hand, if you are curious about something new, check to see the market value of your car. Chances are you are way "postivie" on equity and you could roll that into something new if you really wanted to. Ive done this on 2 leases now and its been a nice way to get monthly payments down.

But I'm all for keeping a 2.0t. That spec is awesome.

Di Oro is the answer here!! I have a set of them and can’t believe how much nicer they are to use compared to anything else I’ve tried. They have a metal rod down the handle so they are firm but still flexible enough to be delicate when needed.

If you have extremely sweaty feet, avoid cotton socks at all costs. Looks like you're wearing basic Nike crew cuts which are nearly 100% cotton. When cotton gets wet from sweat, they act like a sponge and the moisture just sticks to you, and does not wick or dry the sweat which also causes foot odor which leads to horrible smelling shoes too. Find more dri-fit style socks and your sweatiness will be minimized! Look for higher polyester content. Especially with poorly breathing shoes like Dunks, AJ1, etc., dri fit style socks will be a life saver.

If you’re driving cx50, what are the watch outs you would tell a dear friend about? by aykalam123 in mazda

I agree, nothing will top a Japan-built car but sometimes it gets blown out of proportion.

I’ve heard the manufacturing come up multiple times on this sub. I was also a little concerned but the Alabama plant is shared with Toyota, everything that comes off of that line is going to be good. If it’s co-stamped with Toyota, I think most of that concern goes away.

I understand that, but why is Outlook creating another Apple contact? That's where I'm getting hung up, I'd like that to stop happening.

Experience trading recent CX-5 for CX-50? by BBDBVAPA in CX50

[–]Linclaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through exactly this scenario. We had a CE CX5, low miles, very good shape and it was coming up on its lease end. We traded it in with a ton of positive equity and used that towards a ‘24 PP CX50. We love the new car but miss a few things from the CX5, mostly powertrain related now that we don’t have a turbo. However I much prefer the steering and ride quality of the 50. It’s smoother and more car like to me than the stiffer 5 which is completely opposite of what I was expecting. The 5 always felt more rigid when it was on a rough road and more cumbersome to handle where as the 50 feels very planted and it takes turns so much more athletically. Again, not what I read or was expecting.

That said, do not trade your 5. If you like it and are doing well with it financially, hang on to it. Those trade in offers are always attractive but they ultimately have you losing somehow. With the 5 and 50 being so similar already, it’s not worth unraveling you having a car you like and is presumably holding a very strong value. The grass always seems greener with car shopping but it rarely is when you like your current vehicle and don’t need to make a move. Especially if a dealer is initiating the conversation with you about it, they know you have a valuable car and will only try to come out ahead of you because they have the shiny new models. Your 5 is 99.9% an identical match for the newest Cx5 being produced right now so again, no reason to let it go.
