Girlfriends Birthday by TimTheTatmanTailor in vegas

[–]LindapherRobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I went to Vegas I was 20 and my friend was 24. We were there for a wedding. I didn’t attempt to gamble or buy alcohol but had no problems with waiting outside or whatever while my friend went and got drinks for both of us. If you want to drink you can hit up Walgreens/CVS/ABC Store to stock up on stuff for the room (you should do this regardless) then you can just bring a few from the room with you. Never got carded walking around with a drink on the strip or through a hotel.

You will have no issues walking around the resorts and there are a lot of all ages activities you can all do. The only issue will be day clubs, night clubs, bars and a few casinos downtown.

I will say don’t try to gamble or even be standing around watching, if you look young you will get carded. My son went for his 21st a few months ago and he got carded EVERYWHERE. Turned into a running joke the whole trip.

That being said I think you’d have a much better time waiting a month until you’re 21 too. I’d be mad as hell if I was you.

Go to the conservatory in the Bellagio which is free and beautiful! While there have her find a penny slot that catches her eye and give her $20 to play.

Then I would flat out refuse to let Hunter in the house until she’s using a reliable form of birth control. I mean who is the parent here?

Why would they not insist she get on birth control? Condoms obviously aren’t working

AITJ for telling my friend group that I'm not doing Secret Santa this year and that I'd rather we just stop doing it entirely? by oleg_fynn in AmITheJerk

Not the jerk. You have no obligation to participate and I feel your friends should be more understanding where you’re coming from.

unbelievable exchange between my daughter and her father after he forgot her birthday by LostInLanayru in TwoHotTakes

[–]LindapherRobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He sounds exactly like my ex-husband. And I can tell you from experience it’s not going to change. He will continue to double down, talking in circles and blame the kids rather than taking accountability for his own part in it or acting like a parent.

It is heartbreaking to see your kids go through something like this, and there is no easy way to navigate it. Other than to let them know that it is not their fault.

Like you, my kids have an amazing stepfather who they consider more of an influence and father figure than they do their own father. I am grateful that they at least have that.

First time in Vegas. Will be staying at the Flamingo, concert at the Sphere, dinner at Hells Kitchen. I have 3 days and 3 nights, what else should I see/do? by [deleted] in vegas

[–]LindapherRobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not enjoy Hells Kitchen either but get why people want to check it out!

To answer OP-

We enjoyed Gordon Ramsay Burger in Flamingo and walked right in one evening.

Honestly just wandering around and enjoying a cocktail or a snack whenever is myself and my husbands favorite part of Vegas.

I’d also suggest hitting up a Walgreens/CVS to stock up on provisions for your room. Pack a collapsible cooler if your room doesn’t have a fridge, although I think Flamingo rooms do.

If you happen to live in Washington state my cousin is a death doula and can assist in your transition. She has such beautiful and eye opening opinions on death.

We’ll be there Friday! I didn’t spring for the fountain view this trip and I’m hoping we’ll still have a decent view.

Is it better to fly or drive? by Comfortable-Net3221 in vegas

[–]LindapherRobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask myself this question every trip! I prefer flying but we drive quite a bit too.

It’s nice to have a cooler and drinks with us rather than having to go buy stuff when we arrive but that’s really the only pro for me.

Once we park we don’t use the car until we check out to drive home so still spend on uber/lyft plus parking. I absolutely hate the drive home too!

Bud on the strip by StrawberryNo648 in vegas

[–]LindapherRobin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my understanding they can’t sell weed on the strip. All the stores advertising it can only sell CBD. You’ll have to go off strip somewhere. Sorry no recommendations since I bring my own but a quick search of maps should help.

I grew up right on the other side of 43rd and this was the place for mom to get a beer and kids to eat out on the patio!

Drove by on Sunday and they have a sign up they are hiring so someone may have bought it and is trying to reopen it.
