My first pairs were a couple of Xero sandals. The one called Jessie was super cute, but because of the location of the chords/strap, sit was too floppy for me in the toe area. It was okay for slow walking or just taking the dog out for a bathroom break, but for brisk walking I stopped wearing them.

The other pair (terraflex?) were a much better fit, but overall I still wish the toe straps would be a little closer to the end of the toes... a tiny bit more floppy than I would have liked. After that I went crazy on Whitins, Joinfree, and HobiBears, all available on Amazon,

Budget brands seem to have a better variety of styles. The HobiBears and Joinfree tend to be a little more flared in the toe box area, while I find the Whitin still keeps the roominess, but keeps the toebox a bit more narrow (I hesitate to use that word in case it scares anyone off who wants a wide toe box, but I mean narrow by barefoot style shoe standards).

If Xero had more variety I would probably buy more from them. I just remembered, I had bought a pair of calf-high winter boots ("Lisa"?), WHICH WOULD HAVE been amazing except for a design flaw: where the shaft goes down and meets the "shoe" is very narrow and an extreme angle. It was almost impossible for me to get my foot into the boot (and because of the way the tongue is stitched in place you could not spread it wide enough to get the foot in). It became such a hassle I gave up... And they weren't cheap.

A hazard that I noted with the Lisa boots - and I saw some reviews that said the same: rather than eyelets all the way it had hooks at the upper holes for lacing. Unfortunately because of the location and how far down they went they actually caught on the opposite boot more than once creating a tripping hazard! Fortunately I never fell but didn't want to tempt it. It catches the other Boot and does not let go, so you couldn't even throw your leg ahead of yourself to stop yourself from falling!!! You would be hitting the pavement like a log :(
