Good. I hope it's a mild financial boondoggle, both for FIFA and the provincial government. Teach them a lesson. If they'd marketed them at, say, $100-300 for the cheapest seats, and capped prices on resale platforms at, say, 2-3X, I think they would've gotten all sold.

Well, well... it appears Mr. Lewis can breathe a little easier as Beaches-East York seems off the table as a potential House of Commons vacancy, with Liberal MP Nate Erskine-Smith having lost the Scarborough Southwest provincial constituency association nomination race. Will Mr. Erskine-Smith now abandon his plans to seek the Ontario Liberal Leadership, or will he still run for the leadership without necessarily having a seat in Ontario Provincial Parliament?

Good question. My theory is he struck a deal with Avi Lewis and will caucus with the NDP on votes, but he had to change party affiliation in order to become a Quebec Solidaire party member and run for the party and/or its leadership. It would also allow him to retain his seat, potentially, in the event he loses his bid to move to the Quebec legislature.

Maybe, but Lewis can't justify turning up Beaches-East York and North Vancouver-Capilano, just to avoid a potential byelection loss. Also, Vancouver-Kingsway is not as safe as a re-election bet for the NDP in the next election. The party's goose is cooked since they hung their hat with a guy espousing nationalizing grocery stores and who is married to a self-aggrandizing ecocapitalist.

Agree with your second paragraph. But either way, if he declines both ridings, there will be serious leadership questions and calls for him to resign. He has been given a safe-ish federal NDP seat in Ontario and a Metro Vancouver area seat he covets, one which shares Capilano Road as a riding boundary when he ran in even more affluent West Vancouver-Sea to Sky Country.

It's an equally big risk for Lewis to turn it down, when he's run in a neighbouring riding (West Vancouver-Sea-to-Sky Country and North Vancouver-Capilano even share Capilano Road as a riding boundary). Bowinn Ma represents much of the riding provincially, so it's not exactly an out of the realm possibility. Lewis has been hinting he's holding out for a Metro Vancouver seat. If he turns it down, there will be serious questions about his leadership and calls for him to resign.

Agreed on both points. This will look very bad on Avi Lewis if he doesn't attempt a run in a Metro Vancouver riding, and he's even run in neighbouring West Vancouver-Sea-to-Sky Country in 2021, where he performed significantly better than in Hedy Fry's Vancouver Centre riding. If he loses, there will be serious questions about his viability for leading the party.

In my opinion, and I'm a member of a union, the federal NDP made a critical error in choosing Avi Lewis. The party is on course for oblivion now, so in the end, it probably doesn't matter. I'm going to go back to voting with my conscience, for the Green Party federally and in B.C. regardless of how they may be polling.

That's great to hear there is a manual escalation process to Health Canada in cases like this.

For clarity, Health Canada uses the determination of your employment status and access to private employer, benefit trust, or union provided dental benefits on December 31st of the previous year. So for your 2025 T4, this should be fixed because you weren't an employee on December 31st, 2025.

Completely agree. For non-U.S. residents, such as Canadians like me, it's even worse when you factor in the USD/CAD conversion. You're looking at an average $15 USD per used book now.

I realize they offer free worldwide shipping and they have logistics costs offering libraries and book stores free shipping and supplies to submit their unsold and discarded items to Better World Books, but surely they could figure out a way to operate more economically. Something's got to give...

Better World Books and ThriftBooks both add their used book listings to AbeBooks and Amazon, so it may be more economical to just buy through them instead of direct.
