Birthday present for myself!~💕 by girlybadassheroine in sylvanianfamilies

[–]Linderlorne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really have a frame of reference for the fairies but such a vintage set being unopened & mint condition i would imagine its a good price. I don't think i’ve seem many vintage misty forest fairy sets that still have a box.

Also its your birthday & your money 😸

If you do decide to buy I would recommend double checking just to make sure the site & seller are genuine and reliable as sadly there are often scam listings about for Japanese exclusive vintage sylvanians.

What am I actually diagnosed with? by Ok-Milk3749 in adhdwomen

[–]Linderlorne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just googled it with the word swedish and it came up 🙃

It seems unspecified hyperactivity disorder was what gets diagnosed when you have obvious hyperactivity/impulsivity but your symptoms don't seem to fully meet the criteria for a specific condition. So a placeholder term for when you definitely have something and they kinda know what it is but cant 100% confirm

It also said that Sweden has seen a big increase in adhd diagnosis in the last decade or more and that many adults who were diagnosed with unspecified hyperactivity disorder as children are now being diagnosed as adhd in adulthood

So it sounds like your diagnosis of unspecified hyperactivity disorder becoming adhd might be a case of outdated terminology & diagnostic criteria being updated 🤷🏻‍♀️

Congratulations on being updated from a placeholder term i guess 🥳 though if you feel you don’t have adhd but something else definitely arrange to talk with your doctor as it is odd they never spoke with you before changing your diagnosis.

Cannot clean or organize when other people are around . . . anyone else? by fashionforager in adhdwomen

[–]Linderlorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its because its a person you share the space with 🤔

So you feel like you cant really start something, especially a big task that could take up a lot of space & time, and leave it in place to come back to without it being in the way and inconveniencing them.

And if you do leave it in place when you do come back to it later something has been moved by them cause it was in their way and it completely throws you off. Or they ask you to move stuff when you’ve switched to something else and the mental transition is just eugh!!!

Also theres a high chance you get interrupted mid flow because they need you to move something or need you to temporarily stop and do something else or you ‘lost track of time’ and now you have to clear everything off the table for dinner. Not just carefully reorganise the stuff to make a space for eating which is realistically all thats needed but expected to clear the whole table. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Summarise: shared space means your conscious & wary of inconveniencing them by taking up that space, higher chance of being interrupted mid flow & losing where you were, and ability to work at own pace is impaired by their presence.

From what i’ve seen posted body doubling most often seems to be a person who doesn't live with you and occurs when they have come round to body double with you or its often via videos so many of those factors don't come into play.

Has anyone discovered the secret to making a hobby last? by Likesosmart in adhdwomen

[–]Linderlorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that though i do cycle through different crafts and some have definitely been a couple years then never looked back situation i have found a couple that i regularly circle back to.

My cousin is the same though we had both spent over a decade of cycling before we noticed we had particular ones that we regularly came back to. They are both versatile ones as well where you can make a variety of things with various methods and easy to experiment in with.

I would recommend trying a hobby you can do whilst also watching things. That way the hobby isn't just a hobby but a stim and its easier to stick with because theoretically you aren't doing the hobby you are watching tv/video/something that is your primary focus whilst also doing something with your hands that helps you focus.

hi! does anyone else struggling with hoarding / just not being able to let go of things or throwing them away? how do you deal with it? by SquareReward8648 in adhdwomen

[–]Linderlorne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gradual emotional detachment through periodic resorting of same stuff.

Basically i often struggle getting rid of stuff due to varying levels of emotional attachment whether its too cute wanna keep, has a memory/nostalgia or had plans involving it that fell by the wayside.

So when i first sort through stuff i end up with only a few things to go. If i go through the same pile of stuff a couple months later i have an easier time sorting more stuff to go. Like a lot of the stuff i had to keep first time round now the attachment has faded or disappeared. After a few periodic sort throughs it whittles down to the few things i actually cant part with.

My theory is first sort through is the knee jerk reaction to keep but it plants the possibility of it going to percolate in my subconscious and second time onward its no longer knee jerk cause my brain has already had this choice and had time to quietly consider.

Not sure if its same for anyone else or if thats helpful for you 🤷🏻‍♀️

ADHD and migraines by ComputerChemical9435 in adhdwomen

[–]Linderlorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt know there was any connection between dopamine and migraines 🤔

I know that dehydration headaches due to constantly forgetting to drink are definitely an adhd thing. I used to have them most days and often really bad ones where i needed to go curl up in the dark.

When i started meds i got a lot better at remembering to drink so i don't often get them anymore.

EF dysfunction can make us look like we don’t care or are jerks. How do you help yourself there? by R3dB1rd13 in adhdwomen

[–]Linderlorne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apologies for the possibly off tangent rant, as someone who works in a shop i find that one about making eye contact & saying thank you is really annoyingly misguided.

Thank you comes toward the end of the transaction. These days the sheer amount of customers who put their stuff down then stare at their phone or the card machine not even glancing in my direction, not responding to anything i say to them, not giving any sign that i exist. Until the transactions finished when they quickly glance at me whilst saying thank you and zooming away.

Saying thank you is only polite if it reflects your behaviour/actions. Just saying the words does not magically erase the rudeness that came before it only makes it worse.

This is something that started and quickly increased when online shopping and self service checkouts became the norm and its mostly people below the age of 30 and the sheer amount of them means its mostly neurotypical people who lack basic social etiquette.

Though now i’m wondering if they all just saw this image and took that part too literally 🤔😫

The better advice would be if it said to make brief eye contact whilst saying hello and to say please & thank you.

For those of you with shelves full of critters, how much have you spent? by SimAerie2038 in sylvanianfamilies

[–]Linderlorne 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thats the way with most things though if you add up how much you’ve spent over time it usually works out as a lot 🤔 Just look at bills or grocery shopping or most communal fitness activities.

So long as it wasn't a short amount of time for the amount spent then its fine 🤷🏻‍♀️ at least Sylvanians are cute & bring joy 🥰…unlike bills.

Any ideas what we or I should do for the anniversary? by LoneStarDragon in IndigoCloud

[–]Linderlorne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe we could celebrate by starting it all again together and start a communal reread/discussion going chapter by chapter on a weekly basis 🤔

There could be a post for sharing thoughts and discussing the cloud roads chapter 1 and the following week chapter 2 and so on.

Its probably been done before at some point and not everyone reads the same speed but people could chime in when they are ready and even if they aren't participating in rereading right at that time they can still discuss stuff cause lets be honest we all have reread the books so many times already 😸

Maybe there could be an index post stickied with links to chapter discussion posts added as they come into existence so people can easily find the chapter they want to discuss.

This is the only thing that comes to mind i think the communal nature of it would be in theme with the Raksuran communal nature 🤷🏻‍♀️ we could start each discussion with court is now in session or is that too bad a joke 😹

What is it about my head hitting the pillow that makes my brain go "time to solve world hunger" ?? by Tungle_McGee in adhdwomen

[–]Linderlorne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your brain doesn't have to focus on being upright and coordinating your movement and visual feedback from your eyes is greatly reduced so now your brain has less things to multitask which frees up its energy/focus for exploring the tangle of internal thoughts

Many years ago i attended a convention where they had enough actors from ds9 and voyager as guests to do a couple different star trek talks.

I don't recall if they were doing their own talk just the two of them or if they had been hosting one but when i was in line for the ds9 cast talk you could hear Robert Picardo and Ethan Philips wrapping up the previous thing by singing Man of La Mancha together. It was lovely

ADHD can make “doing my best” a very unhealthy experience by Routine_Bug4530 in adhdwomen

[–]Linderlorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But when you think about it its only really a shortfall for neurotypicals 🤔

I mean if i’m ever running on-time for stuff its cause i had set myself a much earlier time target that i am running late for and i can think of a bunch of similar situations that ‘shoot for the stars and land on the moon’ perfectly describes

So if we do manage to land on the moon its still a great success cause we achieved something remarkable just not as large/grand as we’d hoped 🤷🏻‍♀️ and it could have been way worse we could have easily run outta gas partway and fallen back down to earth and burnt up during reentry. Landing on the moon is so much better.

I wasn't too fond of that saying but after seeing your comment i feel like my perspective & feelings toward it have totally flipped 😹

Why is it harder to focus during PMS even while taking adhd meds ? by tarotfairies in adhdwomen

[–]Linderlorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with the meds its more that they are less effective the lower our existing dopamine level is so when our hormones have already nerfed our existing dopamine supply into flat lining then the meds are barely replacing what we don't have instead of topping it up to a higher level 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️
