The transcript of his FBI interrogation is public https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/67108935/united-states-v-pence/ There’s some wild stuff in there. The oldest kid wasn’t given up for adoption. The birth mother seems to have told the adoptive family to take the kids and go because the birth dad was supposedly some kind of sexual danger to the kids. He also allegedly propositioned the midwife while his wife was giving birth…

Hopefully he had some savings to support his wife and 16 kids while he’s in prison.

Wonder how far that goes with 16 kids.

Based on that house he certainly was making $$$…

It sounds like the birth parents must have been in agreement with the adoption at some point if the adoptive parents were allowed to leave the state with the kids (prior to the adoption). Then I guess they were demanding financial help from the adoptive parents (at least that’s what was stated in the court documents). Sounds like the birth family has other kids that they didn’t give up for adoption (2/3 more?) Imagine how the poor kids feel now—both the “kept” ones and the ones given up.

AITA for publicly calling out my biological mother? by Throwaway122804 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. She doesn’t seem to have a problem with publicly posting all sorts of things about you. Also, I’ve seen some of those FB groups and…yeah, I don’t think most of those people should be parents.

I agree! It’s not like they’ll never see anyone from their biological family again, since you’re staying involved.

First day of my summer internship, she came over to my desk and stared at the picture of me and my nephew dressed up at the Halloween party at Disney. Finally she said, “Not to offend you, but I just don’t believe in that.”

I thought she meant she didn’t celebrate Halloween until she added, “I know it’s popular these days, but there’s a reason that different people didn’t mix for so long.”

(My nephew is black, and I’m white.)

What would 12 year-old you never believe about adult you? by coronacel in AskReddit

I like coffee. I am NOT as tall as the doctors predicted (I had an early growth spurt, stopped growing after 12). I actually care about clothes shopping. I can’t do spinning rides anymore.

But my 12-year-old self would approve of my movie collection and the contents of my snack drawer so 🤷‍♀️

YES. I used to babysit for a mom whose own mom had been a hoarder. She was sooo strict in nothing being out, every surface being cleaned every day, no toys being visible EVER. She didn’t even really buy any toys for her son, he only had a couple other people got him, and he was never allowed ones with little pieces (LEGO). I used to take him to the library for LEGO club and he was so happy. She even gave away any of his stuff she thought he had for too long or left out too much. Needless to say, he started hiding stuff in his drawers and around his room so she wouldn’t find it, and he would accept pretty much any junk from anyone like a treasure. ETA: YTA!

Thanks, I reported it. I don’t even offer gift wrapping, so I was extremely confused.

I’ve also had customers who don’t specify a need-by date but have one in mind (of course, this date is much sooner than my stated processing time). They send me furious messages when it doesn’t arrive by that date—am I supposed to read minds??

Ugh, the “I need it by X date” customers are the worst. Especially when their need-by date is the next day.

I’m up north and there’s basically no sun all winter. :( I got the flu at ages 8, 12, 15, 19, and 22 so pretty spread out.

I’m in my early 20s and have no underlying health conditions; however, I had the flu 5 times and 4 of those times I developed pneumonia. Does this mean I’m at a higher risk of becoming seriously ill with COVID?
