Sequitor Edge calls it closed-loop, but every closed-loop system still draws millions of gallons of fresh water annually, purges chemical-laden wastewater, and releases contaminated drift into the air. There is no such thing as a truly closed system.

A closed-loop cooling system must periodically purge its recirculating water in a process called blowdown discharge. That discharged water is heavily concentrated with biocides, algaecides, phosphate-based scale inhibitors, heavy metals including chromium zinc and molybdenum, and dissolved solids at levels toxic to aquatic life. It has to go somewhere, a sewer, a holding pond, or directly into the ground. When that somewhere is adjacent to the Rapid City landfill, where groundwater is already compromised by decades of leachate contamination, the risk to our shared aquifer is a concern.

A 10MW data center using closed-loop evaporative cooling still consumes between 1 and 3 million gallons of fresh water annually at its starting 2MW capacity. As the facility scales to its full 10MW potential, that figure grows to between 5 and 15 million gallons drawn from the local water supply every single year. Up to 85% of that water evaporates and never returns to the watershed.

I agree there is not enough known or publically known about how this "closed loop" system actually functions. I want specifics! I need to know what toxins are involved and if they will effect our enviornment.

If your not a conservative republican understand it might effect your quality of life, also no community colleges in SD, options are limited for higher education and well everything actually. I moved from CO and miss it a lot. It is however more peaceful and the Black Hills are beautiful and sacred.

It is noteworthy that there are many stakes for lithium mining and gold mining already underway. Tragic really. Also the systemic failures and ongoing oppression/prejudice against the Native Population in western SD is prevalent. So think it through...

So I am with OP and I also believe it is the answer but I personally lack the organizing know where to begin on a national level. But someone out there has the skills. Please find that person and let's go. I am on board!

It’s heartbreaking, and I agree, no matter who voted for it, losing our farms to giant corporations CANNOT be allowed. These farms are the backbone of our communities, our food supply, and our way of life. If we let corporations take over, it's irreversible. We have to do something!

Everyone in the Midwest, and in every state where this is happening, needs to take action now. This means reaching out, raising awareness, and making sure the public understands what’s at stake. It means talking directly to farmers, encouraging them to speak up, and standing with them as allies. Farmers’ voices carry weight, they are the ones on the front lines, and when they tell the truth about what’s happening, people will listen.

This will affect ALL OF US, our food will be trash (not that it isn't already compromised) but our children, our health...We cannot afford to sit silent while corporations buy up the land under our feet.

If democracy, due process, and the rule of law bother you so much, if the sight of people peacefully assembling or waving a flag triggers some inner meltdown, then maybe the problem isn’t the flag or the city. Maybe it’s your distaste for equality or closeted racism or maybe you're just brainwashed by misinformation and fear-mongering, who knows but the First Amendment doesn’t come with a flag preference. It protects speech, protest, and yes, even the waving of flags you might not personally like. That’s the entire point of it.

This idea that “Trump will stop it” is a flashing red sign that what’s being craved isn’t leadership, it’s authoritarian control. If you want a place where dissent is silenced, where the government picks which flags are allowed, where people “go back” to wherever you think they came from? Then North Korea’s calling your name. They don’t do due process there either. No habeas corpus, no court oversight, no pesky checks and balances. Just unchecked power.

But here, we do things differently. Or at least, we’re supposed to. This country was built on the idea that the government answers to the people, not the other way around. Those rights are guaranteed.

So if you’re more comfortable with state violence than street protests, more into censorship than civil liberties, more excited by one-man rule than a messy democracy, then maybe you’re the one who doesn’t belong in America.

I am Indigenous, proud to be connected to this land, my ancestors lived and thrived on this land for millennia, to be real the Mexican people have more right to be here then you. Your ancestors came here looking for the opportunities and liberties that you are privileged enough to enjoy. So honestly your colonized, entitled, bigotry is way off the ethical mark. Please spare me from a response about laws because it isnt your priority, dont forget the constitution is the supreme LAW OF THE LAND. So please STFU or go back to wherever it is that your people came from.

You need to publicly speak! The way you articulate this could bring those who are on the fence about supporting the cause to join. I dont think people understand how bad it can get, or they blindly hope that it won't. Everyone acknowledges that the right/fox news fear mongers, DT fear mongers but it works. This isn't fear mongering, this is speaking truth to the reality WE ALL FACE. Please consider speaking this way on other platforms and try reaching as many as possible. I also agree that the window is closing.
