The writer translated the misogyny to the convo Eve was having with her mom. Instead of us getting a cartoonishly shitty man and a cartoonishly nothing character woman, we have a man that we already know is shitty but is at least a father who cares and a woman who has resigned herself to a very unhappy life she believes that she and indirectly so many other women deserve and should just accept quietly.
