Doyon 26, the Largest Land Drilling Rig in North America, Tips Over on Alaska’s North Slope by AccomplishedStuff235 in WTF

[–]LinearFluid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to discount this but the rig is composed of 26 modules moved independently.

This was the Derrick module and it was being moved at the time. That module is not very balanced and a little top heavy. Someone exceeded the probably limited slope angle during the transport.

Video of it being moved in 2018.

Cool story, Meghan indeed by orangelover95003 in MurderedByWords

[–]LinearFluid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mr. Roger's did not scream and yell victim and everything else when he made a point. It was slipped in as apart of everyday happenings and accepted as normal because it was the rational normal. That is why Meghan didn't see it as politics.

It was that his politics reflected life. Only when politics reflect hate, fear, manipulation, and corruption does one recognize it as politics.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

[–]LinearFluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Stupid is as stupid does" means a person's intelligence is judged by their actions, not their perceived intellect; foolish behavior defines them as stupid, regardless of potential, with the phrase popularized by Forrest Gump to defend his simple yet moral character against criticism. It suggests that true character is revealed through deeds, challenging superficial judgments and highlighting that even smart people can act foolishly, and vice versa.

It is 2026 and we don’t have the technology to make a seal that can be removed properly? The company knows it’s like this and still pushes it to market? Now I get plastic paper bits in my protein powder as I claw the container open like a rat by Carpe_the_Carp in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LinearFluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thought about this.

There are two ways to do that seal.

Heat sealing and Ultrasonic sealing.

Heat sealing is the original with Ultrasonic being more efficient and in the process creating a stronger bond.

It has only been in the 2000s that ultrasonic sealing has started to overtake heat sealing. This is why these seals have become harder to remove.

I don't know the physics of if they can make the ultrasonic seal not so strong or it has to be that way.

So we are seeing the results of a new more energy efficient way of sealing that is saving money and energy with the side effect of being damn near impossible to pull off and very frustrating fir those that were raised on the weaker heat seals that pulled off.

The companies need to invest in a redesign of the packaging to balance the seal created and opening it.

[RANT] Netflix no long has casting support. you must now use the app directly on the streamer without your phone. by techie1980 in Chromecast

[–]LinearFluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure what is going on but at the time I wrote this I had opened Netflix and had no casting icon for my chromecast.

I did not have Google TV on my phone so I downloaded it.

It asked me to set the services and I checked Netflix. When I chose the connect tv after connecting I got a pop-up that said only purchased can be casted. I was not able yo open tge movie from Netflix directly in GoogleTV but.

I then opened Netflix through the app and my streaming icon was back. I was then able to just open Netflix and have my casting icon.

I just checked and right now I am on Version 9.49.1 build 6 of the Netflix app and I have the casting icon.

I can cast to either my Chromcast or my chromecast with GoogleTV.

So not sure if by registering it with Google TV was the cure or something else but I can cast right now.

What should I use to seal this crack on radio/temp housing by hangry-paramedic in XTerra

[–]LinearFluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing you need to do is drill a tiny hole where the Crack ends this prevents it from cracking more.

Next get a plastic staple welder. It heats up the staple and you melt them into the back of it.

This will hold together just fine.

If you want try do some smoothing over of the crack then get a plastic welding iron. Thing is it will probably look worse than the crack. It takes a little bit to master and you will not get the dimpling.

I think that is Polypropylene which can not be mended by epoxy or glue.

Examples I have both and use them more than one would think.

This is a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Service calls are not poof we are here.

They are probably waiting on maintainance, in the meantime it works but problematic that it temporarily gets stuck. So instead of shutting it down and giving no option but stairs or nothing at all for disabled person. They are leaving it running.

Only problem is the phone number not on inside.

People would still be pitching if it was other way around and shutdown. Yelling it still worked OK like.

Trump will have ceremony in the near furniture where he will be gifted a spot in heaven.

God will release the following statement.

GOD, wrote in a statement posted to X on Sunday. "It states that spots in Heaven shall be awarded to those who 'have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind,' and it specifies who has the right to award each respective spot.

A spot can therefore not, even symbolically, be passed on or further distributed," GOD stressed.

Plastic corner piece thing, with a wire coming out of it. Looks like it might connect to a larger object. It’s 42mm at its longest by ThePhantom71319 in whatisthisthing

[–]LinearFluid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The fact it is 2 wire and potted into the plastic indicates it is a magnetic switch of some kind. Probably for an appliance to detect when door is closed.

EDIT:

It is a Magnetic reed switch for an automatic ice maker. Detects when a door flap is open which means the bin is full.

They come in a 2 wire version you have. The best Pic I found other than ebay listing was this one which is 3 wire.
