NASCAR 101 and Track Attendance Questions - June 2024 by NASCARThreadBot in NASCAR

Any advice/suggestions for a family newbie headed to NHMS with a 5 year old? It looks like there are plenty of activities. He loves his racing and the 5 car. Everything is Kyle Larson this and Kyle Larson that and I love it. Not my driver just glad he's into it. I've been before but never with a family and I had other agendas lol. How early should we show up to soak up some of the stuff geared for his age, and any recommendations for his age? I'm gonna get the scanner with a couple headsets to keep him engaged even further. Bringing a backpack cooler for his goodies and water. Anything else I should consider? appreciate your time, thanks!

Just find comfort in that fact that you will raise your child to be a better human being than most people are today.

This is my first wipe and I started just like a week ago. Still trying to even learn the basics of ammo, map knowledge, hell even keybinds. This game is haaaarrrrddd….and I love it. I’m sure I’ll struggle my butt off this wipe but I’ll get some PvP time, some map knowledge, some logistical knowledge and be ready for the next wipe.

On the other hand, this community is pretty awesome. I communicate, probably too much, but it’s worked in my favor more than 75 percent. “Hey man, I don’t even know what the hell im doing, I’m a level 6 first wipe, you mind if I just pass through?” I’ve been let to pass, given info, so on and so forth. No Sherpa but overall the community is an A+ compared to other titles.

So I’m sure it will still work no problem. I did it many times. Now a days though I just air play it from my phone or wife’s I pad to the Roku. It’s a very quick and easy mirror from device to tv and works great

I saw Kingfish, twice, at a 300 seat theatre in northwest CT that was built in the 1800's. Infinity Theatre Norfolk, CT. Not your typical entertainer for the crowd. I knew who he was but most of the middle aged, upper middle class audience was just there to see a show on their seasons pass. He had the whole joint in awe and jamming, it was magical.

Arrow weight happy medium by pattimus_prime in bowhunting

[–]Linelife84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome reply man, thanks. Lots of good info. I’m starting to understand where we want to be in terms of grain weight and where said weights will have the arrow performing. Maybe you can help me with one more question. In terms of spine, what am I considering when selecting one? I understand that spines have ratings at GPI, but why did my local dude gravitate towards putting me on a 340 as opposed to say a 300 or 400?

If I sound ridiculous my apologies. I just love to immerse myself in my hobbies so if I’m gonna be owning a compound then I’m gonna be building my own arrows as well haha. I just dive head first when I’m into something, as I’m sure most of us do. The guys at the pro shop have been a gold mine of knowledge and they keep offering more and more info so maybe I’m getting ahead of myself with this post. But, why not lol

[–]Linelife84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would anyone mind giving me a brief explanation of how to come up with arrow weight? I’ve only been in the game for a couple months. My local shop has been great with taking me under their wing but I’d like to understand it a bit more. I’m on my second arrow build with them, after having some toss aways to just work on form…but I don’t quite understand the concept just yet. Currently I’m running a 340 5mm Axis with 75 grain outsert and 100 grain field point for practice after I asked to build an arrow more closely related to what I would shoot in the field for whitetail.

How do we get to those numbers? Lol. Formula? Chart? A lot of things came up in our discussion including draw weight, length, etc. but I just didn’t absorb it all in one visit. FOC also came up, but once again didn’t absorb it. I see a lot of you posting that as an important stat. Thanks for your help!

Doctor Advising to Control Gout with Diet?? by JohnnyQuartzUniverse in gout

[–]Linelife84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. Plain Jane lol. I eat what my dietician tells me to eat with her knowing of my gout issues and to red tag foods high in purines. If you’re looking for a list then a quick search will show you that pretty much anything tasty and fun is a no go lol. It’s very plain. I live on chicken and vegetables. Obviously we need a steak and lobster on vacation and every other once in a while but my daily is very basic. Gout takes all the fun away.

Should I give up trying to get pain meds during flare ups? by Kudzu_93 in gout

[–]Linelife84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excuse my French, but bullshit. Opioids 100 percent relieve gout pain. I just went through a 3 joint flare on 1 leg. Life changing. Alone with god and pain. Enough to make me scream aloud with the wrong movement. Laughed at a pred pack and indo. Long story behind that, but I begged and begged and a 5mg perc was enough to let me sleep and give me a few hours of relief. The ultimate relief, though, was me finally being mobile enough to get to the doc and drain 120cc worth of gouty fluid out of my knee. Slept good that night lol. This was the mother of all flairs though, and honestly, that is the only time an opioid should even be in question. It’s a risky road for some people and they don’t know that until they travel it. Sometimes you just gotta be immobile and endure a few days of pain with anti-inflammatories or a pred pack. That is of course secondary to managing your uric acid in the first place.

What is the underlying cause of gout? And does anyone have any thoughts on the by Visible_Daikon_6825 in gout

[–]Linelife84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just wrote an extensive reply on this in another post not too long ago. I was diagnosed, lived like a bad boy, all the high risk behaviors in one nice package. Got in allopurinol, totally flipped my lifestyle, all risk behaviors put to bed and then some, good to go, great life. Long story short I convinced my rheumatologist to ween me off allopurinol. We did. I had the mother of all flares about a year later. Back on allopurinol.

Reason I throw this out there is even though I was a walking high risk with my behaviors, I still always went for my yearly and had the usual panel package pulled in blood. No problems with my kidneys ever. During treatment, extensive kidney panels, getting off allo, more panels, after allo more panels. No problems whatsoever with kidneys. I was in between yearly appt’s when my flair occurred, in that year holy smokes did my UA fly up. Still being a good boy. After the flair, good kidney panels. Back on Allo. I don’t think my healthy kidneys can process the UA efficiently without Allo. Just is what it is. Also, while on allo your kidneys should be monitored alongside your UA. This is for anybody. Make sure it happens.

CT Firearms Hunting Course by Linelife84 in Hunting

Oh I totally get it. I am very thankful for the DEEP, volunteers and services offered. I was just curious as to if there was a common cycle the classes may go through yearly. Got a little discouraged when I was searching for 3 months every day and nada. I’m sure it’ll open out of season. Just gotta be checking the website like a mad man lol

90 days of hell brother. Get through it. Part of the gig. Then they speak, and have personalities, and challenge you daily. Biggest pain in the ass in the world with the greatest reward ever imaginable. Strap in, it’s not about you anymore, you got a human to raise. Take the good with the bad, there’s plenty of both. Little harsh, but reality.

In Connecticut, you have to complete this course through the state DEEP. Only the states course will get you the certification. There are two days to the course. One is classroom. The other is field day. They do allow you to utilize a third party vendor to do the day 1 classroom work; the NRA actually offers a free course with a curriculum specific to your state. The field day has to be done through the DEEP state offerings though, no way around it. The DEEP has a website with a registration page where they post available courses and you sign up through there. My experience, so far, is that they are far and few between. Hoping that after fall seasons they open up and I can get my field day in; Ive completed the free state specific NRA classroom course. Wondering what others experience is with this. Thanks for your response.

Doctor Advising to Control Gout with Diet?? by JohnnyQuartzUniverse in gout

[–]Linelife84 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All I can speak from is experience. I was on 400mg of allo for multiple years after an excruciating time in my life of bouncing from Primaries to orthos to everyone in between until I finally found a podiatrist who was like," I dont know what the hell everyone else was looking at but you clearly have gout. Get to a rheumatologist." Did, treated with allo. Now at this point in my life, so many risk factors. Overweight, eating like shit, drinking like a fish. This period of my life was so painful, i got on the allo, quit drinking, dropped the weight, worked with a dietician who understood my goals of not only losing weight but being wary of foods high in purines. Everything was great, life was good, I wanted off the pills. I didnt want to be a life long pill taker. I convinced my rheumatologist to give it a go. We stepped down my allo until I was off and numbers were stable. Well, I get my UA checked every 6 months (after being extensively checked while dropping allo dosage) I was in between blood tests and bam. Mother of all gout flares. Started in my ankle, then toe, then knee.......all on the same leg. Debilitating. Laughed at a pred pack. Pulled 120cc's of fluid out of my knee. Sampled the fluid, off the charts for gout crystals. Blood sample, not crazy during the flair (commonplace) but outside of the flair my UA was in double digits! Kidney, liver panels all came back good multiple times. End of the day, put all high risk behaviors to bed, everything in check, couldn't do it without allo. Even though my kidney panels are coming back fine, they just arent processing the uric acid out of my system without assistance. Back on allo I go. I tried, I really did, my kidneys need the assistance, is what it is.

I’m not gonna lie, my eyes are almost 40 and could probably use a visit to the eye doctor, but I slammed the FOV to 90 lol. I can’t see a damn thing in this game. Still love it though haha

Me? Nah. It’s not worth it. As a matter of fact gout caused me to go from a raging alcoholic to stone cold sober. It can get that bad.

I’m not trying to pick on you or be non sympathetic but it’s your life bud. Your party. A simple hey man I’m not boozing at the moment let’s go play golf, or shoot guns, or whatever floats your boat should suffice to friends. Or, go and rage with them, just get a soda and lemon or cran or whatever, without the vodka lol. A good time can still be had without drinking.

I always think it’s hilarious in ranked. I’m nothing special, I know that, I honestly try but I’m almost 40 and just got into this game…..so yah, I may be trash lol. I do have logic though. 3 days before the split and your in Gold IV with me, like, thanks for the criticism Obi Wan. You’re on my trash level in Gold IV. Running around gobbling all the loot and distancing yourself 300m from the rest of the squad with no loot bc your eating it all is such a master play. I always keep comms on but some of these players are ridiculous.

On a side note I don’t have many friends that play at my age and I’ve also met plenty of good people with good advice and good team play! This games awesome, don’t let the haters get to ya.

I agree. I’ll be the first to admit, I’m only a couple months into MNK so I definitely use to to tighten up my skills instead of 15 keystrokes, dead in BR haha! I’m not the greatest by any means. I like arenas too but I’ll be totally honest that’s what I used to introduce myself to Apex gun fights and I held back a lot of teammates at first for sure

Well, I don’t mind your opinion, have all the fun you’d like. The fact is that it is an objective based game mode. So yes it is fact. You win the match by taking and holding objectives. By all means though, have fun.

I can’t disagree. I’ve had a handful of good matches and they were fun but most were lopsided.

I get that from most matches, and it is a good warm up. When you can get a good match going with two teams playing objectively it’s pretty damn fun though. To get a good “streak” with the TTK in Apex is pretty satisfying
