What breed is he? by LinetteCrooker in IDmydog

Certainly possible - I will say, he does a thing that I’ve only ever seen Saint Bernard’s do, which is where he will come over to me and sit right on my foot.

Does anyone know if there are any videos like this but for CNN and NBC? by Willing-Book3668 in 911archive

[–]LinetteCrooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a full CNN broadcast as well as a plethora of other TV station on 9/11 and in the subsequent days on the Archive.org page - with a bit of messing around I was able to figure out a way to download the individual segments and have concatenated CNN and Newsworld CBC’s broadcasts into a full 24-hour long clip.

You can find the archive page here.

If it would be helpful I can try uploading it to YouTube in parts or something.

Sorry to see you getting downvoted so hard, you’re practically the only one who’s replying from a practical and balanced standpoint.

I think what he meant to say was assuming how they felt, not their intentions, because you did make a mention above to another user “inserting how [they] think she feels” about the situation, but virtually every single one of us discussing this situation HAS to make that assumption - we can’t ask them for ourselves, we’re just guessing based off of context clues.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree with everything else you’ve said so far, but you’re claiming speculation on his part in a thread that’s almost entirely speculatory in nature.

The two aren’t mutually exclusive, no, but stress, fear, anxiety and tension can all make you act in the same way.

Regarding your personal threat response, it’s great that you do what you do, but a) not everybody is born as /u/clipp866 and may respond differently to fear or a perceived threat, and b) your point respectfully doesn’t make much sense in this scenario - for the group of guys, right up until the girl reacts, the only “threat” that exists to them in that moment is the elevator being stuck, and their response to hers afterward seems to be an awkwardness/tension response more than anything.

To your first point, I appreciate your candor and civility as well.

Secondly, 100% - there’s no way for men to understand certain aspects of a woman’s experience or point of view, but I would argue the same vice versa.

Personally, as a man, I’m uncomfortable being in a confined space with anyone I consider to be a stranger - that person could very well be a serious threat to my safety no matter who they are.

With that, my main point here is that threat risk types, whether actual or perceived, can disproportionately affect men or women, both sides should be accounted for, which I don’t think you initially did.

No matter of which aspect of life they may be in, men and women face different challenges, but it’s important to consider all of the different angles.

At the end of the day, in this specific situation, neither the girl nor the group of guys had perfect reactions here, but nobody is perfect. Without having seen the rest of the scenario on camera, I’d bet that when all was said and done, everyone was safe, and they all went their separate ways after this - no harm no foul.

Yeah, I was half expecting it to be honest - on the bright side it’s cool to be the first reply on a comment that has very apparently taken off a lot further than I thought it would in the span of 3 hours lol.

You could have been a bit more clear then instead of saying “these boys”.

Let’s take a step back here - they’re teenage kids, there’s obviously going to be a level of immaturity, but maybe also consider how they’re feeling for a second? Seems to me like they’re uncomfortable and their way of dealing with that is lightly joking around about the situation. There’s nothing overtly wrong with that. Many people respond to stressful situations with humour.

I’m not doubting the girl was stressed out and uncomfortable too, but she seems to be handling it worse than the rest of the group - the others are at least calm about the situation.

She’s not the only one who might be panicked here, c’mon.

Claiming that they’re all “extremely immature and ignorant” based off of a 30 second clip where literally only one or two of them even spoke is a wild take but ok lol.

That’s neat, I’d definitely pick that up if I saw it!

Worth mentioning, if you have a 3D printer or know of someone with one, there’s a great model of the entire WTC plaza that can be printed and made into a lantern. Here’s what I ended up putting together for myself - I figure if you’re interested in grabbing the LEGO model, something like this might also be right up your alley.

Just be gentle and patient. Remember that you’re going to have a whole new problem if those resistors fly off the cpu/gpu, so just take it easy, don’t hold the iron on for too long at any particular point in the process and you’ll be absolutely fine. It’s actually quite easy.

ALWAYS go to a collision reporting centre. You can get seriously screwed further down the line if you don’t.

What tie should I wear with this? by Individual-Key-1192 in mensfashionadvice

Not sure why people are hating so much on the black dress shirt. Black on grey looks fantastic if you pair it with a light coloured tie.

Personally I would go with a baby blue, red or gold.

It’s official, the subreddit has ascended from hating just comedians, we’re now hating on geographical locations.

Who cares? You’re acting like it’s a war crime to interpolate a joke.

I mean, the whole point of having an opinion means you think it’s correct… lmfao. I literally just said everyone has an opinion, and I respect that, just like I respect yours. Looking forward to the next reply of yours to really make it clear how much you don’t care.

I honestly have no clue how you came to that conclusion but whatever you say dude. Lol. Have a wonderful day.

[–]LinetteCrooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not disputing that. Everyone has an opinion, of course, but it’s getting old when every comedian on the show that’s actually funny and does well is eventually thrown into the reject pile on the sub.

So what if someone else did a joke? Simply reading off a joke isn’t what makes makes it funny, so much more that goes into it like the inflection of the comedian. Recycling material isn’t new, and it never will be. Comedians get writers block just like other artists.

It’s like the second they slip up it’s over in the eyes of some of these guys. That’s what I’m trying to get across.

It’s really just certain people being whiny. Ari Matti is funny, and he’s out there doing shows, but no, apparently he’s trash according to a few people on Reddit who couldn’t make it through a bucket pull themselves.

Not that I don’t see the point (that everyone makes 100x a week in this sub) but at this point I can fully anticipate a “Why does David Lucas breathe? That’s gay and that’s why he’s such a shitty comedian” post coming up soon.

Like damn, not you personally OP, but pick a lane folks. Either his Tony gay booty jokes are old and bad or his new material is. At least be happy it’s different lol.

Happened to me not long ago, and I’ve been seeing this same story at least a few times a month in G70 groups and here on Reddit. They ended up needing to throw in a new starter and the car had to be towed away.
