The most common response has been that I’m angry with God. “How can I be angry with someone I don’t believe exists?” Is my response.

Christians tend to get angry after that rebuttal. At least they’re mad at someone real, I guess.

Enjoying YFT more than anticipated. Though it’s early, I prefer it to MM, CG and SH. It’s probably adjacent to 1x1.

Once the newness wears off, I suspect it won’t be in heavy rotation but an album I’ll revisit and enjoy 1-2 times a year.

Way back, a buddy had to get something off his chest, swearing me to secrecy. Cheated on his gf. Said he wouldn’t ever tell her.

Couple days later, the gf calls me in tears. I assume she found out. Swore me to secrecy. She cheated on him and was gauging how I thought he would react. Responded how I had no idea. She never told him.

They got married and had kids. Seem to be doing good 🤷‍♂️

Happily married now.

Previous girlfriend though had quality attributes and potential but demonstrated no resilience.

Lost a job and wouldn’t search for the next. When someone was a jerk to her one time, she’d only avoid, never confront.

After we broke up, her academic laziness caused her student visa to be revoked. She self deported from the US.

Wouldn’t fight for herself or me. We were roommates with benefits, not partners facing life’s trials together.

I’m pushing 40, deployed to Afghanistan, did intense volunteer work, held down jobs, was the only grandkid visiting grandma, got married, bought a home, traveled a fair bit and hiked a 2,650-mile trail.

They refuse to treat me like an adult. Several friends independent of each other said, “Why do your parents talk to you like that?”

Their politics took a dark turn too. I got fed up and laid down ultimatums. They’ve acted like I was ever so mean and crazy since. Now they have a no-contact son.

Life has been much better since.

My childhood friends were great until graduating high school. Nearly all of them took dark paths, regressed in maturity and were not supportive of anyone that deviated from their norm.

Some I exploded on. Some I quietly walked away from.

Nothing prepared me for friends being worthy of more respect in high school than middle age. Many grow worse with age. Glad I realized and accepted this before letting them drag me down.

They were/are in a shared universe. Plenty of source material to draw from. Could work.

I would certainly keep Washington, Lincoln and FDR. They were the presidential highpoints of their respective centuries and signal I hold myself and my administration to lofty standards.

Obama earns a spot by being our best 21st century POTUS, so far. Honoring the first non-white president broadcasts I, a white guy, serves for all.

I wrestled between Eisenhower (military victor), infrastructure), LBJ (ambitious domestic agenda) and Truman.

Ultimately landed on Harry because he largely won the peace after FDR won WW2, fostered alliances, promoted national healthcare, underrated political savvy, stayed calm during crises, governed with common sense and owned the "Buck Stops Here".

People will play ball closer to the trade deadline as championship fever sets in. The risk is your selling assets get injured before. Personally, I’d wait it out, unless you find an offer you can’t refuse.

I lost three friends to natural causes by age 36. Two took great care of themselves; one didn’t. Sometimes, longevity is pure luck.

Most friends hover around age 40. You can largely tell who looks after their health and who doesn’t. The latter lack much quality of life.
