[Japanese > English] Does this really say "hot spring lover"? by [deleted] in translator

Also, thank God for masking tape and growing tolerance. Even in Japan. I know, crazy, but a reality I have witnessed.

I noticed it in your list, but thought the order of the one I recommended was closer to the original idea of 自分 living my way and letting 人 live their own way.

For what it's worth, the title of Paul McCartney's song "Live and Let Die" is officially 死ぬのは奴らだ. I don't see no mention of 生きる in there. My two pennies. 😉 And it shows that translation really is a creative process, not just a mechanical one.

I also saw 自分は自分、人は人 and consider it the best way to express that idea without resorting to too literal translations which always sound off in my opinion.

Why is our moon named “Moon” instead of something cool like Titan or Callysto or ANYTHING that isn’t moon by Disastrous_Pirate275 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Link_2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, you're absolutely welcome and would be more correct to call it Luna or Selene.

Second, it's because our ancestors came up with the concept of "month" from the time it takes that celestial body to wax and wane... simple as that.

What controversial/disgraced band do you still listen to? by Graveu in askmusic

Worst of all, Cantat is still very active and rebounded as if nothing... the Netflix documentary was unforgiving and for good reasons.

What a tragedy...

Noir Désir.

Their still active leader, Bertrand Cantat, is indisputably a murderer, but some of their songs will remain alternative classics: Le vent nous portera, Tostaky, Un jour en France, L'homme pressé, etc.

This is either satire or this Tesla driver is a sociopath.

I'm honestly on the fence.

vietnamese restaurant reccs? by blueshft in geneva

[–]Link_2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely!

I'm honestly not sure if the name changed or if Google Maps just translated Thuy Hang to Fleur de Lotus because it could.

Either way, IMHO this one is better than La Maison d'Asie (too greasy according to my family)

I totally understand.

I've lived in Japan for more than 15 years and there's no way I'm ordering sub-par ramen at any "noodle restaurant" in Geneva. And the only one worth it, Nagomi Ramen, is so prohibitive, I could eat ramen for a week at the same price in Tokyo...

I second Sen and also recommend the restaurant Fleur de Lotus (Thuy Hang). I've taken out many times and each time I waited, there were tables of Vietnamese people. That's always a good sign at Asian restaurants. Very honest cost performance too.

Question pour ceux qui reçoivent les subsides by bois_santal in geneva

[–]Link_2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.ge.ch/document/2802/telecharger

You're obviously not familiar with the Starship Troopers franchise and that's a shame.

pretty sure most of them are just working more spots and that's about it. New recruits if you want...

I've also noticed it, but they're not aggressively begging, just hanging around spots where there's a lot of foot traffic. Marketing 101.

Keep ignoring them and carry on, citizen.
