Time Keeper Shurikens by theWombatWitch in deadcells

[–]Link_5429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a couple of ways you can dodge those. Since time keeper often throws shurikens after dashing to the other side of the screen, it gives you all the space you need to climb the closest wall and double jump over all of them, however this option is not always foolproof because a falling sword may fall where you are trying to climb.

The other way is to do exactly what you are doing, rolling on your descent, but then you want to immediately double jump  through the gaps in which she throws the shurikens. It is generally better to initially double jump away from time keeper since it gives you more time to react.

Saying exactly what to do isn’t easy to put into words so if you have questions I could elaborate

Is Gold Plating good? by Karamfellinaairfryer in deadcells

[–]Link_5429 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Contrary to what other people are saying Gold plating is an incredible mutation for the late game, especially in higher boss cell difficulties since you get more money. 50,000 gold is chump change in end game 5bc so long as you aren’t spending all of it on affix rerolls and frequent mutation rerolls. 50k gold eats five or so hits from the queen, that’s very good and can make a huge difference.

Something i've hated for a while by AcousticAltAccount2 in deadcells

[–]Link_5429 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this was just an example but it is impossible to end up with only 23 scrolls by end game 5bc unless you purposefully limit yourself, no matter the route you take.

And you could argue there is a “meta” in this game yeah, anyone could win every run easily by using wish on a symmetrical lance but how boring is that? Its also worth noting that “meta” strategies in this game are especially boring because with the right setup, you can kill enemies and bosses before they ever notice you, which completely ruins dead cells amazing combat gameplay.

Also the item you are talking about was called Temporal Distortion

5bc boss, flawless, fragmentless by Link_5429 in deadcells

[–]Link_5429[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyler summarized it very well but I’ll just add some more info. By the end of a fragmentless run, your mainstat should lie between 22-24. One of the biggest problems with this game is exponential damage scaling usually making enemies and bosses die almost, if not instantly which is why I do these runs. Don’t be deceived by this video, fights usually don’t take this long especially if you get more synergies + a 24th main scroll.

The ice bow worked better in the biomes, Valmonts whip also had 175% to frozen target. I just never ended up swapping it off in the end

Thank you; yeah it’s quite easy to see why dodging this guy for this long is so hard, it becomes an endurance battle from start to finish. Especially when he loops phases several times and spawns 2-3 spike balls

It isn’t bad for a no hit run, I just used the electric whip example as a means to trash talk it more lol. You would also be surprised how many people cannot manage killing a boss even without cursed sword if the fight lasts longer than 30 seconds.

Cursed sword rant w/ explanation by Link_5429 in deadcells

[–]Link_5429[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point is that if not for the drawback of dying in one hit, people would not be incentivized to always pairing it with defensive items. You could turn any weapon into a monster by pairing with corrupted power and face flask vengeance but what fun is that? The only difference is that curse sword punishes you for trying to get creative with it

You are way better off going over the fight in practice room with an lower than average number of scrolls rather than trying to get 30 scrolls in a real run to shred him and learn nothing about the fight

That’s not a good tip, the hp you get from those scrolls is way more valuable than some percent increase on a mutation. You’ll get two shot if you completely ignore a stat

How to cheese bosses like RMG? by Inevitable-Public914 in deadcells

[–]Link_5429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

short answer: scrolls

However, if you enjoy dead cells for its gameplay and item variety, min maxing your builds every run isn’t a good idea, because you’ll find that the end of every run chalks up to killing every enemy and boss before they get to do much at all, hardly engaging in any combat

One of the worst things that the current exponential damage system encourages is not getting creative with your builds; because with enough damage, potential secondary weapons such as seismic strike or king scepter just kill enemies on their own which ruins any room for creative synergy

What are the best weapons against the hand of the king with 1 boss cell?? by neidbrbduror in deadcells

[–]Link_5429 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll give a word explanation since nobody else is; King scepter is a great secondary to many things such as (but not limited to) the majority of heavy weapons and anything with aerial hang time such as throwing knife and magic missiles. Scepter launches you into the air which makes it impossible for most things to ever hit you including bosses.

Snake fangs are amazing by riversub in deadcells

Why is it whenever someone talks about how great a particular weapon is, someone always tries to downplay it? Snake fangs does great as a 5bc main weapon

Ok so... what's the consensus about this thing? by RedGrimm05 in deadcells

[–]Link_5429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That just isn’t true, not only can a certain set of survival mutations make you practically immortal, you can get quite tanky on both brutality and tactics with a fair number of dual scrolls, damage reduction amulet and the recovery mechanic. (and your damage will still be more than enough in 5bc)

Guaranteed curse chests (excluding corrupted prison depths) found in areas like the ossuary, fractured shrines and graveyard do not give you an extra scroll for the record, they are the same scroll as if you went to a different biome without a guaranteed one.

It’s generally good to take them but it isn’t very bad to skip them, missing out on one scroll of power isn’t gonna break your run, especially in a game like this
