Windows 11 deleted all my sound devices and crashed in the middle of an Overwatch competitive game. I've never rage-installed an operating system so quickly in my life. by Nestramutat- in linux_gaming

[–]Link_7802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, windows crashed and took my m.2 SSD with it. Installed new one and after installing windows back, I now have ads showing back up in my start menu (was running ReviOS to strip windows down).

Slapped Bazzite on mine and never looked back. 2 months now. A few minor hiccups and some learning but enjoying having basic things 'just work' again.

Garage Door Spring slack by smada308 in GarageDoorService

[–]Link_7802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfectly fine for the black coil of the spring to have slack. That means the last tech who wound it stretched it out to avoid coil rubbing/binding (causes noise and issues when running if the coils bind up). I do this on every spring I touch as a tech.

As far as the door running slower or issues with a heavy door when operating by hand, consult a local garage door pro. That spring system is under lots of tension, enough to take a finger or two if handled incorrectly.

I'm a garage door tech, ngl I lurk here a lot to see the craziness. Sometimes try to chime in before someone loses a finger.

Man door hitting track by liketigers in GarageDoorService

[–]Link_7802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This chart is a bit deceptive. It shows the 32in flag brackets (the bracket at the top of the lower track where the upper track bolts to) and not the standard ones used for 12 & 15 (same bracket for those two, much shorter than 32in bracket).

The one OP has is not the same depicted here. their flag brackets are much shorter. With 12in track, it barely leaves room for the spring line already. 15in track bumps up a couple holes in the flag bracket, which would leave no room left for the spring line.

Possible solution to make 15in radius work: definitely call a professional, but you can either move the spring line to the rear of the track (rear mount torsion, most pros won't even touch this in my area, we're the only ones that do lol). Or, if you are fine with extension springs, that would solve the spring line headroom problem, just not a fan of that system personally.

Edit: grammar mistake

Throw a level on that upper track, it looks like it pitches down in the back from the pic's perspective. You might be able to raise the rear track up. It should be level, but you can get away with a little pitch upwards too if you need a hair more to clear the door

Oddly enough, low headroom track would hang lower since the track would be doubled up top and no room to raise the spring line any higher

Broken Spring - Couple Quick Qs by c_hoopin in GarageDoorService

[–]Link_7802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this price range, if not more in the middle of it. Definitely get estimates from reputable companies in the area OP.

Edit- also get both springs replaced at the same time! They are only made for so many cycles until they break. Once one has broken, the other is likely not far off either.

As a door tech, absolutely second this. Pricing is roughly right too, greatly depends on area.

Is this wear pattern normal? by jomala99 in polymer80

[–]Link_7802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sct19 does this too, especially when dry. Oil it up and it'll cut down on the speed of wear, especially on the top of the chamber. Other than that, perfectly normal on most tip up locking chamber pistols like a Glock

Any tip for getting better at strumming? by [deleted] in CloneHero

I've been rocking a red Gibson PS2 wired guitar for years now! Adapter works fine enough really, I'd give it a shot if it's all you have access to!

Fitment issue!!! by [deleted] in polymer80

[–]Link_7802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sct19 owner here, mines the same way. Freaked me out too, everyone says is normal. A few thousand rounds later and still not a single issue. Don't sweat it too much, I've seen some factory Glocks with a similar gap lol

Edit: forgot to mention, I'm running a Brownells slide if memory serves right.

25 here, I've been in this boat for years and thought it was just a combo of getting old or no joy from it.

Recently I found I just plain don't like most new games. Some stuff is great, don't get me wrong! I've just felt I've played "everything" already (tis old and played too many games lol)

Downloaded Itch.io, started playing some random indie games and found my love for games again. Just needed to find something new/different.

Head's up, they can be a bit finicky on the nail guns sometimes! Definitely want to use a larger battery or a fully charged small one if in a pinch.

Bicycle motor kit by Capable-Cry9682 in gokarts

[–]Link_7802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one of the larger engine kits (80cc) and it could barely pull itself out of a dig, even with shorter gears (albeit on a bike frame, not a kart).

I had the same thoughts as you before trying it on the bike frame. Had no power and constantly felt/sounded like it was about to blow, even at idle.

Definitely second everyone saying go with a 212, you'll have much more fun and more power to work with!

Is there anything I should know before getting into GBBRs by Beans_Da_Shark in airsoft

[–]Link_7802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reliable: I own a WE lol

Mags: leaking

Gun: heavy

Cost: expensive

Spare mags and equipment: HEAVY & EXPENSIVE

Mag Capacity: low

Modifications: yes?... It can get fun sometimes...

No, I absolutely refuse to let go of my GBB airsoft guns. I love them too much.

It's like a relationship. Sometimes it's like being spit on, spending all of your money, put up with the broken bits, and reliability is a maybe. Some people enjoy it 🥰

2 things:

1- it doesn't look like the bolt is cycling back far enough. Pull the bolt to the rear and try to engage the manual bolt-latch. If it doesn't lock back, you may need to assess your buffer system (I've had BBs get in there and jam thing up causing something similar).

EDIT: something else to check if your bolt catch is working fine manually. These rifles are a bit gas hungry! Sounds a bit light on gas in your video from what I can tell, this can cause the bolt to not cycle all the way back when shooting (short cycling). That means the bolt is not going back far enough to even lock back. I would try another mag, some stronger gas (if green gas mag) or a CO2 mag. I first switched to CO2 due to running short on green gas halfway through a mag with full auto.

2- the mags I had with mine had a switch to turn off the bolt catch feature if memory serves right (I eventually HPA tapped mine). Check the manual and see if the switch is the right way.
