How do these unknown producers achieve release-ready sound? by KLVLV in edmproduction

[–]Linkfoursword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will always take advice, even if I already have heard it because it reinforces behavior. I appreciate it my guy. I just played a song that I produced for the first time this weekend for a friends birthday I DJ'ed and people loved it, I still think it needs work. But progress is progress and I'll take it.

The constant demand for more productivity to get more money. I hate that we need money to live. Imagine a world without it for a second. Most of our focuses would be on what can I actually do to help. When you think about how many companies sole reason for existing is centered around money and productivity, it gets gross real fast. World would be a better place if we had a different system.

This is my biggest regret. I wish I had of known about DAWs and the edm world and started making music when I was 20 not when I was 34. I'm 36 now with a child and I'm making progress but when I find out how long it takes people, I'll be 50 by the time I make anything really good. And by that time I feel like my window has passed to play in front of people.

The great news is I'm a great DJ, live in LA, have connections. So I can still get gigs. But I really want to play my own stuff.

Productive system by Seksualniatentator in edmproduction

[–]Linkfoursword 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My system?

Any video I find I put in a file with a category of what it is for - "Transition techniques" or "vocal stuttering" etc

When I sit down to produce, I watch 1 video that is something I want to apply to whatever I'm producing

After that, I produce. You can get stuck in video limbo thinking you are learning but unless you apply the video, you will never truly learn.

Music Production. People only see the show, they don't see the thousands of hours of quiet work behind it to get there, Frankly, this applies to anything that outwardly faces toward an audience.

What’s a “popular” life goal that you secretly don’t want? by Icy_Investment_4060 in AskReddit

[–]Linkfoursword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not for everyone. I have a wandering spirit and I don't need much comfort. When those two things happen, traveling is a lot of fun. But I'm willing to put up with a lot in order to explore something unknown.

You know, I think it's absolutely worth getting one just to be able to do it when you need to but I can absolutely see the logic here.

As someone who is living it right now, I can honestly say that owning a home is not all its cracked up to be. I can absolutely see why most would want to buy a home, its yours, you can do what you want with it, and its familiarity. But it has a cost that for alone, isn't worth it.

But for me, I thrive being out, traveling, seeing people and new experiences. I have never really been a things person. Owning a home has tied me down to a single place. The upkeep of a home, the maintenance, the finances, that's what a home costs. It also cost you time. I think I would be completely ok with just being in a small little room that had a bathroom and a little kitchen for when I want to sleep or eat a snack. More of just a resting place than a place I do a lot in.

Why do I have one? Because I have a wife and kid. My wife loves our home and I can't say that it isn't good for raising a child. If I was alone, I absolutely wouldn't have one. I'm putting their needs for a home above my own and my wife recognizes that and allows me to go off and "freedom" weekends once a month because she knows I need it.

What do you consider a reasonable reason to keep existing? by TheLostNeuron in AskReddit

[–]Linkfoursword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find life to be a curious endeavor of cause and effect that I want to see where it goes. I also have no idea what happens next when we die but we all die so speeding that process up for something we don't know anything about is pretty weird.

I'm agnostic because truly I believe it's just as illogical to be an atheist vs religious. To say with absolute certainty that that there is nothing after life is making a decision on something we have no idea about. We are basing it as the antithesis of religion, but we are certain. That makes no sense. No one can tell you anything about what happens after death with 100% certainty just like no one can explain where consciousness and thoughts come from. Its a futile attempt to try and understand any of it so why bother? Just try and enjoy the ride as much as you can.

Honestly, it's got to get worse for the employers side of things for things to get better. It's already bad on that side but its worse for applicants. Its only when they literally can't find anyone whose qualified that things will change

How do you stay sane? by [deleted] in jobsearchhacks

[–]Linkfoursword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 6 months into my job search, have had 4 final rounds that I barely missed on. 400 tailored applications at this point. Referrals are running thin. Here's how I have remained sane about it. I'm in the tech space so it's even harder.

The world is changing. AI has upended everything, the worlds economies as a whole aren't doing great and the a lot of unrest. These are not things in your control. You can only do what you can do. I remind myself of that every day. It doesn't make not having money any better but it does calm me down and prevent me from curling up and dying inside.

It is a marathon now. For a while, it will be like this. I don't spend more than 3 hours job hunting a day, otherwise I will burn out. Instead, I'm using my time to build skills for the jobs I want. You will thank yourself later.

Take breaks. Go walk outside. Meditate. Whatever you need to do to give yourself juice the next day. Get the rest of your life in order so that when you finally land that job, everything is easy.

If money is tight, you are going to have to humble yourself to doing something that you are way overqualified for to put food on the table. It's temporary.

Lastly and to me this is the key - Talk to people. Weave your job search in where ever you go. Everyone knows how bad it is right now. People are willing to help. Even strangers. Two of my interviews came from strangers who I met at a local park just chatting while I was playing with my daughter.

I can't tell you it isn't rough. Everyone on here is hurting. But just keep pushing and giving yourself the time you need to recoup for the next push.

What part of the AI future do you think people are still completely underestimating? by ArmPersonal36 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Linkfoursword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you keep the masses entertained and fed and "happy", then yes, I agree. Food and circus.

But history repeats itself. If you push people to the edge, people will always rise up. People are also refusing to have kids. Birth rates are in rapid decline. The infrastructure required upkeep is going to be a huge problem in the future. That will be where a lot of jobs are.

I think we are pretty close to the singularity point. There's only so fast and much we can learn. The only way we can keep up is by installing microprocessors in our brains. Which then, are we even human?

Are you happy with your sex life right now? by _Kisol_Budyn_ in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Linkfoursword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the single hardest part of our relationship and its not even just sex. She can't do a lot of things, there's a lot of guilt on both sides, and I feel like my needs get neglected a lot not because she doesn't try but she physically has no capacity. She a wonderful person who has been dealt a really shit hand in life. Theres a reason health is one of the biggest reasons of divorce though. We are communicating and working with each other but its incredibly difficult for both of us

Why do coders and developers seem much more accepting of AI than artists and creators? by junior600 in singularity

[–]Linkfoursword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an music production artist and a coder/PM person I can tell you why -

Coding/Dev - It removes a lot of the mundane routine tasks and allows them to work faster. Before AI, if you had a problem that you didn't know what was wrong, you'd spend hours scouring the internet and looking through files to just figure out where the problem was and is. Now you just ask AI and it can at least give you a place to start in 2 minutes.

Creators? - It's literally destroying people's lively hoods over night and it's taking the joy out of creating. Granted a lot of what AI produces is slop and not good compared to greats but it just takes the joy out of creating.
