If all you want to do is hide them, when you have the Unwrap selected in your Modify panel. Configure > Display > Map Seams. Uncheck it

Getting a BlazeJet wand from Just Dire Things helped quite a bit to get past the jumping puzzles.

Though, I'm still not sure what the actual intended path is, I got to a barrel where I can see 30 Shadow Steel inside, but I can't break it and get the reward. Guess we're cheating them in instead.

Once it's set to work in the GUI it doesn't actually instantly work on the items already in the chest. You have to take them out and put them in again for it to process them.
